Community Craft Workshop for Beginners and Hobbyists Alike
What does Open Maker offer?
Open Maker is a community craft workshop which provides opportunities for both hobbyist and beginner crafters to hone their skills, meet new people, and work on personal projects. Open Maker runs multiple times weekly, and offers two key types of events - Open Makers Workshops, offering demonstrator led workshops focused on education and learning new technical manufacturing skills, and Open Makers, a broader, self-driven events in which more confident crafters can work on their own projects. The facility features many enticing workshop tools, such as 3D printers and laser and die cutters.
Important Notes
Open Maker Participants:
- Must Be 16+
- Hold a City of Canada Bay Library Membership
- Complete a Safety Induction (available to book for free on the Open Maker and City of Canada Bay websites)
- Must book sessions in advance
Open Makers (self led community event)- Operates every Monday and Thursday,
Open Maker Workshop (demonstrator led, educational workshops)- Operates on 18 April, 2 May, and then every second Saturday for the remainder of the year starting 30 May.
HOW TO GET THERE? - Parking & Transport
Public transport is available via the nearby Rhodes station, which features lift access to both street and platforms, as well as bus stops along both Marquet and Gauthorpe streets.
There are disabled parking spaces at the front of The Learning Space.
ACCESS FEATURES
- Accessible toilets in venue
- Makerspace accessible by wheelchair, no stairs in building
- Additional side entrance along Shoreline Drive if library entrance is non-viable
- Note- Makerspace tables, while designed for seated use, are not height adjustable
- Note- Support workers are welcome but a second ticket must be booked for them (tickets are free)
