Vivid Sydney Barangaroo and Walsh Bay
Festival of Light, Music and Creativity
Description
Barangaroo has had a full renovation — and this Vivid, it's putting it all on show. A flat, wide accessible waterfront promenade running the entire length of the harbour, brand-new Metro station on the doorstep, and some of the most spectacular free installations of the whole festival. From the Vivid Fire Kitchen to the 23-metre Molecule of Light, this is a precinct worth taking your time in. 🌊
💡 Our recommended route: Arrive via Barangaroo Metro → use Metro toilets first → explore Barangaroo Reserve → stroll south along Wulugul Walk → continue to Darling Harbour, or get picked up at Walsh Bay. Easy, flat, and spectacular.

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Barangaroo Metro really the best way to get here?
Yes — our top recommendation without hesitation. It's fully step-free, avoids all the road closure chaos, and puts you just 300 metres from the Stargazer Lawn. Skip the parking stress entirely.
Can I connect Barangaroo with other Vivid precincts?
Yes! Head north along Hickson Road for Walsh Bay and The Rocks (~900m, flat along the water). Head south along Wulugul Walk for Darling Harbour (~20–30 min, completely flat and accessible). All Sydney Ferries are also accessible and connect precincts beautifully.
How do I get from Barangaroo to The Rocks?
Take Hickson Road through the wharves — flat and around 900 metres. Avoid the direct route up towards Argyle Street as it's quite steep. Hickson Road is the recommended accessible route and there are installations and events along the way!
Do I need an MLAK key?
Yes — unlike Darling Harbour, some toilets in this precinct (Wulugul Walk and Wharf 4/5) require an MLAK key. The Metro Station and Town's Place toilets do not require one. Bring your key just in case!
