Cuckoo Callay

The Town Hall Newtown  next to Newtown station can be reached from the same pathway once you get out of the station. It’s a very big venue that encompasses wide corridors and space inside the venue. There is in an incorporated garden at the very end of the ground floor of the venue. 
 

Disclaimer: most tables are hight tables. The only short ones are in fromt of the bar, in a space of  or more private, cozy area.
 

The lift can be found on your left if you have just entered the venue, right in front of the main bar. 
The accessible toilets are located in the same area, right next to the lift. They are spacious and sometimes filled with unrelated items that can easily be relocated for your convenience. The only way to open the door for the accessible toilet is asking  staff to  it for you with their management key. We recommend the staff know that you intend to use them. 

There is only one accessible entry, ou might need of someone assisting to open the door because it’s not an automatic one and it was not open from the outside when we got there. However it was easy to manage with one companion that can enter and open the door from the inside for you. 

The closest accessible parking found in in Whateley Street. However, there is a quiet loading zone area in Newman Street. Also a secure parking in 328 King Street in Newtown who has some designated accessible parking spots.

We recommend you let them know in advance of your arrival.

The entrance is step free and wide enough for a wheelchair. The door is manual but kept open for easy access. There is space for a wheelchair by the tables. No outside seating. No toilet. Yo-Chi is a dessert chain, specialising in ‘make your own’ frozen yogurt. This store is located on King Street in Newtown.

Yo-Chi has some accessible parking options. Whilst there is no parking on site, there is a car park behind King Street, Lloyd's IGA. This is roughly 5 minutes travel to Yo-Chi. There is limited street parking, with King Street being a clearway for most of the day, however there are plenty of alleyways with side street parking within the area. 

There is step-free access into the building. 

Yo-Chi Newtown has moveable indoor seating, with some of these being stool tables and seating, and others being low tables. Whilst the space may be slightly cramped, these tables can easily be moved to accommodate wheelchair users. 

At night, there is usually a long line to get into the building, which can decrease the amount of room within the building, however the double doors are always kept open, which means the building is easily accessible. 

It is a self serve venue, and the machine to get the fro-yo, and well as the benches for the toppings may be considered high for some wheelchair users. In this case, there are always staff positioned at these stations who are able to assist with serving, upon request.

There are no bathrooms on sight. The nearest ambulant bathrooms are in the pub ‘Kelly's on King’, and the nearest accessible bathrooms at at Dendy's Newtown.

This place has a pretty groovy and chilled atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. 

There's a level front entrance, with a standard doorway. Wide space between tables and bar, easy to get through to back area and to the toilets, as long as bar isn't 5 deep. 

There's a mixture of high tables and stools and low tables and sofas. The back area opens up into a fairly wide space. 

The toilet is semi-accessible - it has no rails and is not marked as accessible (it's the one marked for women). There's a small lip to get into toilet, so you need to pop a wheely if you're in a manual chair. A powered chair should have no problem (see the photo). If you need rails to transfer you will have to bring a friend or carer in to assist.

A unisex wheelchair-accessible bathroom is located next to one of the lifts. It includes handrails, a manual swinging door, and is relatively spacious inside.

The platforms are hard-surfaced, wide, and generally easy to navigate. For boarding assistance, a portable wheelchair ramp is available by calling ahead or speaking with station staff at the central office on Platform 3.

The main entrance to the pool centre is wheelchair accessible, with flat, even ground and wide automatic doors.  A clearly signposted ramp is located on the side of the building to provide access to the attached café. Signage above the ramp is visible and clear. However, the door to access reception and make bookings is manual, though it is lightweight and easy to open.

There are two pool ramps: a wide ramp into the 50m pool and another into the program pool used for classes. These ramps are made of metal with tall railings for support but are not clearly signposted. There is no ramp access to the shallow kids’ pool.

The surrounding terrain is flat and even, with wide walkways around the pools. An accessible toilet is available and clearly signposted, though it also functions as a family change room with wide doors and no key required - it locks from the inside

The 50m pool is equipped with a hoist to assist with entry. Aqua chairs and a pool hoist are also available and can be booked in advance, though booking is not mandatory. Same-day bookings are accepted at: https://secure.activecarrot.com/public/facility/browse/1451/1932/. Note that accessibility bookings are generally not available online until after 6:30 am. According to staff, accessibility equipment is only required for pool entry—not exit—as lifeguards assist guests in leaving the pool.

Staff also noted that the gym includes wheelchair-accessible cardio and resistance equipment for programs.

Inside, the restaurant features a large, open space with numerous movable tables and chairs, ensuring flexibility and comfort. A ambulant-accessible restroom is also available for added convenience. While there are temporary roadside parking spaces nearby, no designated disabled parking spots are provided.

Blackbird & Co

The Copper Mill is a welcoming café offering a relaxed dining experience with a spacious outdoor seating area on the sidewalk. Guests can enjoy the flexibility of numerous movable tables and chairs both outdoors and indoors, with the interior providing ample space for comfort. The café’s main entrance features a gentle ramp, ensuring easy access for wheelchair users and individuals with mobility challenges. However, it does not include an accessible restroom, and while there are plenty of temporary parking spaces along the street, no designated disabled parking spots are available.

The Copper Mill

Carriageworks is one of Australia’s most significant creative industry hubs, renowned for its dynamic cultural events, performances, and exhibitions.

The entrance to the venue is located on the left side of Wilson St, alongside the sidewalk, requiring a short walk downward to access. A ramp is positioned to the right of the stairs at the entrance, providing convenient access for individuals with disabilities. The main door itself has no steps, allowing free and easy entry.

Inside, the venue is entirely step-free, with all dining areas situated on the ground-floor hall for maximum convenience. A wheelchair-accessible restroom is also available within the venue. Additionally, multiple wheelchair-accessible parking spaces are located on the left side of the building, with additional spaces further to the right. Overall, the venue is highly accommodating and disability-friendly.

Carriageworks

The park has parking available next to a central toilet block, though only one space is designated as accessible. Entry to the park is stair-free, but one of the entrances is partially obstructed by two bollards, which may make access more difficult for some wheelchair users.

An accessible bathroom is available near the parking area. It features handrails and ample space, but has a manual swinging door that is quite heavy. A secondary ramp access wraps around the other side of the toilet block, though this ramp is narrow. There are also two unisex ambulant toilet stalls.

The path around the oval is wide, flat, and has a hard, even surface, making it suitable for wheelchair users.

There is a children's playground with flat, accessible terrain, though it does not feature any wheelchair-adaptive equipment.

Camdenville Oval

Both entrances to the Metro have ramp access with wide automatic sliding doors. While there is no formal signage, the entrances are clearly visible and easy to identify. 

Accessible unisex ambulant toilets are clearly signposted and located throughout the Metro, split across its two main sections. These toilets have button-operated locks for both entry and locking.

The walkway connecting the two sides of the Metro does not include stairs, making it navigable for mobility aids. However, the ground surface becomes more textured and slightly bumpy in this area. The food and dining zone features wide, outdoor tables with space for wheelchair users.

There are lifts throughout the centre, providing access between the rooftop parking levels and the main ground floor, as the travelators are marked unsuitable for wheelchair use. A moderate number of dedicated accessible parking bays are available near the central lift, alongside bays designated for prams. The central lift is prioritised for ambulant and wheelchair users.

Temporary motorised scooters and complimentary wheelchair hire are available. These can be booked either by calling the Metro directly or in person at the Centre Office Management or Security Office on weekends.

Marrickville Metro

Both entrances to the Metro are wheelchair accessible, with wide automatic sliding doors. While there is no formal signage, the entrances are clearly visible and easy to identify. Ramp access is available at both entry points.

Kürtősh at Marrickville Metro offer great  coffee and amazing baked goods. The Front entrance and entrance to outdoor seating area are massively wide and fully accessible. The counters are low so wheelchair users can be seen. The space itself is massive with plenty of room to maneuver around and there is plenty of space between tables to allow wheelchair users to pull up  to a table comfortably and still have plenty of room for people to pass by without bumping or kicking your chair. Staff are friendly. There are fully accessible bathrooms in the shopping centre the 2nd floor accessible bathroom (accessible by lift) even has a hoist, and shower in it. 

Kürtősh

Deus Ex Machina Camperdown is a unique destination that combines a café, retail space with trendy apparel, and a custom motorcycle workshop, all under one roof.

The store has two entrances, both with gentle ramps for easy access by wheelchair users and those with mobility needs. It offers a cosy indoor dining experience with flexible, movable seating that can accommodate different guest needs, including those with disabilities. Accessible restrooms are available, they are quite spacious and easy to go through, they are located next to the other toilets. Located on a busy street with ample temporary parking (though no designated accessible spaces), the restaurant provides an accessible environment for all, with wide halls and spaces with low tables ready for you to enjoy a motorbike-style coffee or lunch.

With its industrial-chic design, vintage motorcycles on display, and a laid-back café serving delicious food and coffee, Deus Ex Machina Camperdown attracts enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.

Deus Ex Machina Camperdown

Sydney Park offers a main circular walkway that is wide, hard-surfaced, and generally well-maintained. While most of the path is smooth, some sections may be slightly uneven or bumpy. There is one steep slope leading up to a hill, which may be challenging for some users. Several narrower side paths branch off the main route.

The park includes a number of benches spaced throughout, which may benefit ambulant users. It’s also a shared space with cyclists, though the paths are typically wide enough to accommodate both without significant issues.

A café/kiosk is available with open outdoor seating that could accommodate wheelchairs. There are several playgrounds in the park, though none include wheelchair-accessible play equipment or adaptive swings.

Accessible parking is available near a well-signposted bathroom block, which includes a unisex accessible toilet with side rails. However, the stall is narrow and has a manual swinging door. Additional accessible parking and bathroom locations are marked on the park’s maps.

Sydney Park

The outdoor seating is spacious and conveniently located on the sidewalk, offering a relaxed setting for guests. However, the restaurant's only entrance has a high step, making access to the indoor space less friendly for wheelchair users or those with mobility challenges. Additionally, the canteen does not have a restroom, and while there are many temporary parking spaces available nearby, none are designated for disabled drivers.

Lit Canteen

Accessible entry. Outdoor seating available. Inside cramped, Plenty of street parking available with 1 or 2 disabled spots.on the street. Accessible toilet but a bit of an obstacle course to get to it. No signage advertising accessibility.

Darling Thai

Seymour Centre is the University of Sydney’s multi-venue performing arts centre, engaging diverse audiences through programming that celebrates great ideas and great performance. It is home to the York Theatre, Everest Theatre and Reginald Theatre.

Access parking is located on Maze Cres within the University of Sydney and a short distance to Seymour's entrance.

Wheelchair access
There is lift access to all levels of Seymour and wheelchair seating is available in all venues. Patrons can stay in their wheelchair or transfer from their chair to a seat and we can reserve an adjacent seat for companions. If you require wheelchair seating, please advise Box Office when booking.

Hearing loops
Hearing loops are available in the Everest and York Theatres, amplifying sound for specific areas of seating.  If you require hearing loop access, please advise Box Office when booking.

Seymour is a Companion Card affiliate. We provide Companion Card holders with a second ticket for their chosen companion at no cost. Cardholders must present their card when booking and attending a performance.

Seymour Centre

The Grumpy Barista is not named after its owner's attitudes (Mel + Carlo are awesome!).
The entrance has a high step. Indoor tables are close together. 
Bathroom is not accessible and is quite cramped.

The is a small cafe on Abercrombie St. It has a level entrance with an extra wide doorway and also outdoor seating. The staff are friendly, There are no accessible toilets.

Percentage Patisserie

Located on Gadigal land, the Chau Chak Wing Museum is a hub for sharing the University of Sydney's extensive collections with the wider community. 

The main entrance of the museum is step-free, ensuring convenient access for all visitors. Elevators are installed throughout the venue, providing seamless access to every floor. Within the exhibition halls, there are no steps, allowing for easy navigation between different galleries on the same level.
