A crafty day out, with accessibility in mind.
Art, crafts, handmade treasures and all sorts of creative whatnot, all made by disabled, d/deaf, neurodivergent and chronically ill artists and small businesses. Take your time browsing, meet the people behind each piece and go home with something that makes you smile.
Access has been planned in from the start. The organiser uses mobility aids and knows how much difference a little extra space makes, so the aisles are planned wider. Wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility aids can move between the stalls without getting stuck, and there’s seating if you need a break.
Access at a glance: the 3 P’s
Place
Ashfield Town Hall, 260 Liverpool Road, Ashfield, with step-free entry.
The whole market is in one large hall, with wider aisles between the stalls and seating for a rest.
Good to know: there’s no separate quiet space, because the market is all in one room.
Parking
There’s a drop-off area on Liverpool Road.
Ashfield Mall next door has 2 hours’ free parking, or 3 hours on the roof. Use the Norton Street entrance for the roof car park. There are 4 accessible parking spaces next to the lift, and you can also be dropped off there.
From the roof, take the lift to level 3 and turn left towards the mall’s front entrance. Outside, the path and the automatic glass door on your right lead into the Civic Centre foyer. The Town Hall is off the lower level of the foyer.
There’s also some parking on the street.
Peeing
There are accessible toilets in the Town Hall.
Backup: Ashfield Station has an accessible toilet, which needs an MLAK key.
Public transport
Ashfield Station is less than 200 m away and has a lift.
Buses stop on Liverpool Road and around the station.
