    National Museum of Australia is an accessible venue located on the shores of Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin. The Museum's stunning architecture provides an extraordinary place to explore the rich & diverse stories of Australia & its people. The stories are brought to to life through compelling objects, ideas & events where you can take a guided tour or go solo through the many exhibitions.

    With step free entry into the spacious Museum, lifts are available for accessing each of the Museum’s three levels – Ground, Lower Ground & Level 1 (sometimes called the Mezzanine). Wheelchairs & motorised scooters are available, booking 24 hours in advance is recommended. Phone +61 2 6208 5110, with pick-up from the Information Desk in the Gandel Atrium.

    The Museum shop is located just inside the main Museum entrance stocking homewares, glassware, jewellery, First Nations products, toys, books, bath & body products, candles, gifts & more.

    The Museum Cafe combines stunning architecture & spectacular views over Lake Burley Griffin. Broadbean Catering is the Museum’s exclusive caterer sourcing local produce, with menus designed to match the season. There is seating inside on the deck or on comfortable lounge chairs with room to move around & easy access to the counter.

    Accessible parking spaces for visitors with mobility impairment & the required permit are available free of charge, about 40 metres from our main entrance. The route is not protected from the weather. Coach bays 5 & 9 are suitable for coaches fitted with mobility access lifts, hoists or ramps.

    The Museum has a Changing Places accessible public toilet with adult change table & hoist, on the Lower Ground floor. Unisex accessible toilets, baby change tables & an ambulant toilet are available on the Ground floor, off our Gandel Atrium.

    Trained, registered & visibly identified assistance animals are welcome when accompanied by their handler.

    Many of the Museum exhibitions & events are free, but costs apply for some. Companion cards & most major concession cards are accepted.
