Explore the Nations Capital at Enlighten

Explore Canberra's iconic buildings with artistic architectural projections

Enlighten Canberra is the best opportunity to explore the best of the Nation's Capital buildings through artistic, stunning and innovative architectural projections. It is hosted once a year and gives the opportunity to explore and roam throughout Canberra at night to view creative installations on iconic monumental buildings such as Parliament House, Old Parliament House, Questacon, National Library of Australia, National Archives of Australia, National Portrait Gallery, National Gallery of Australia and The High Court. It can even be explored from the comfort of your own car! Enlighten also hosts a food and beverage park and live music and performances.

Enlighten Festival is committed to reducing barriers and delivering an accessible and inclusive event. The installations and varying attractions are accessible by wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walking frames and strollers. There is a main accessible carpark behind Questacon. Other accessible parking and accessible bathrooms in the National Triangle as well as the accessible route around the illuminations can be seen on the Accessibility Map provided.

There is also a mobility marquee on-site. For mobility hire and booking enquiries please contact scooters@netspeed.com.au or send a text message to 0403 242 584. It is strongly advised you book in advance but please note same day bookings are possible by sending a text message to the above number. Enlighten is also accessible by public transport or by free shuttle buses which are all wheelchair accessible. First service departs from Constitution Avenue/Civic Pool at 5pm and the last service departs from the Parkes Place East and King Edward Terrace stop at 11:15pm. For more details on the shuttle timetable and stops please refer to the Enlighten Festival Website.

You can also experience the Canberra Balloon Festival which is also held at the same time. Held over nine days, an array of hot air balloons take to the sky each morning around 6am and drift across the dawn sky and is free for spectators. Weather dependent updates are posted on the website and EventsACT socials. Whilst you can view the balloons across Canberra, they launch from John Dunmore Lang Place, which is the ultimate spot to see them float over Lake Burley Griffin.
