Darlinghurst Courthouse was constructed in 1835-1845 in response to overcrowding issues at King Street Courts.  It was the first purpose-built criminal court in the colony and has been used ever since as a courthouse. The District Court took up residence in the early 1900s, and a new wing to the courthouse was added. In the 1920s, the newly founded High Court moved in, and additional courts were built. Today, Darlinghurst Courts constitute seven courtrooms and hears Supreme Court and District Court matters.

Access to the Courthouse is limited for those with mobility issues  due to it being a historical budiling. Entry is via Oxford Street and a ramp will be deployed to provide access to the venue and an accessible bathroom with be available on-site during the Sydney Festival.

Sun Hot Bakery

Healthy Nuts, on the ground floor of the Kings Cross complex under the famous Coca-Cola sign, is a spacious and welcoming shop that’s perfect for grabbing a healthy snack or drink. The shop is easy to access from the street, with a flat, wide entrance that makes it simple for wheelchairs or mobility aids to get inside. Once you’re in, there are cozy couches that add a relaxed vibe, and they can be moved around if needed to make more space.

The counter where you order isn’t too high, so it’s easy to see everything they offer and place your order. If you need a hand, the staff are super friendly and happy to help. While the shop has two floors, the lower level can only be reached by stairs, so it might not work for everyone.

There aren’t any toilets inside the shop, but don’t worry—the Kings Cross complex has public restrooms that are wheelchair-friendly. Just head into the complex, follow the ramps to the end, and you’ll find the restrooms on the left side.

It’s a chill spot to enjoy some healthy treats, with staff who go the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable!

Penny’s Hotel in Kings Cross is a super welcoming spot, made easy and comfortable for everyone.
 

It is located on a wide footpath, so there’s plenty of room outside, and while there are stairs at the main entrance, there’s a lift right on the left side of the building for anyone who needs it. 

The lift takes you straight upstairs, where everything is clearly marked for a smooth experience.

Inside, there’s loads of space, and the bar is not so far from the lift entrance. With wide paths between tables and easy access to accessible bathrooms, with handrails at the back of the first floor, you can order right from your table, and the friendly staff are always around to help, making sure you have a relaxed, enjoyable time at Penny’s!

Pennys Hotel

Chula, a cozy Mexican spot in Potts Point, offers a warm and vibrant vibe paired with authentic Mexican dishes. It’s easy to get to, thanks to a ramp in the connected building complex that leads straight into the restaurant. Once inside, you’ll find smooth flooring and movable tables and chairs, which make it a bit more flexible for anyone using a wheelchair or other mobility aids.

The pathways between tables are fairly spacious, but they might need a little rearranging to make things more comfortable for larger mobility devices. While the main areas are mostly accessible, the restrooms can be tricky—they’re on another level with two steps to navigate, and the hallway leading there is pretty narrow.

Simon Says Juice in Darlinghurst is a renowned café celebrated for its fresh juices and healthy offerings.

They’ve recently given the place a fun makeover, making the ground level way more accessible and welcoming. The door is wider, so getting in with your mobility device is a breeze! Just a heads-up: the seating has booth tables, so your device might have to hang out at the end of the booth in the middle of the venue, which could make it tricky for others to get by. But we think it’ll work out just fine! They’ve added a couple of small tables in front of the counter facing the street, making it easy to have a quick stop while waiting for the bus or passing by.

One major inconvenience is the lack of restrooms, which means you’ll need to head to the nearest local pub, The Beacham (10 meters), which has accessible toilets. However, keep in mind that it may not open very early in the morning if you’re an early bird.

Their famous juices are a hit all around Sydney, and the new menu includes a variety of smoothies and bowls, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and a sustainable twist.

Sonora in Potts Point offers a welcoming and lively Mexican dining experience, where friendly service complements an innovative menu. Sonora features curated tasting menus, including a chef’s “Feed Me” option on Wednesdays and a decadent brunch with tacos and margaritas on the weekends.

Sonora is fully accessible, accommodating both wide and smaller devices. The main entry is at the corner of the street, accessible through their ample door threshold. Despite being a small, charming venue, the tables are spaced apart, providing enough room both inside and outside, in the terrace. The friendly staff will be happy to guide you to an appropriate space in the dining area.

Toilets are located on the right-hand side of the venue, and you won't get lost on the way to the restrooms. There are two restrooms, both equipped with handrails and enough space to maneuver a device.

Sonora Potts Point

Whether you're a ramen enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Bones Ramen offers a delightful dining experience in the heart of Kings Cross.

The restaurant is located on the hill of Bayswater Road and is mostly accessible from the footpath. The entry features a flat surface that transitions into a slight step on one side of the door threshold, which is manageable to navigate with a bit of assistance if needed. Otherwise you can always have some food in their outdoors area. The outdoors tables are quite small and the available spots are on the hill. However, if you can manage a slight steep hill, you can always enjoy their food.

While the dimensions of the entry are not large, they are sufficient for entry. Once inside, the space is somewhat limited, but there is often the possibility of finding a table for you and your guests upon entry.
 

Please note that they do not have accessible toilets, but you can attempt to enter them since the path from the main dining area is relatively easy.

Table service is provided, but it's important to keep the accessibility limitations in mind when planning your visit. For instance, you won’t be able to access the toilets inside the venue. However, if you are visiting, oxford street is right around the corner while Bootsdarling Café rests in a tranquil corner in South Dowling Street.

Bootsdarling

The Glider is right on Victoria Street in Potts Point, just a hop away from Kings Cross Station, making it super easy to get to with the adapted roads. The café has a lovely outdoor area that's perfect for chilling out. You’ll find a few tables right on the main street, so you can sit there without worrying about blocking anyone’s path. The outdoor space has a faux garden floor and a driveway kerb ramp that makes it easy to access the cosy little terrace.

Inside, there’s a noticeable step up to the main café area, so you might have trouble getting in with a mobility device. But don’t sweat it! You can always ask for table service on the terrace, and the friendly staff will be more than happy to help you out.

They don’t have toilets at the café, but no worries, Kings Cross Station is just a few meters away, and it has fully accessible restrooms that are easy to navigate.

Glider Cafe

The cinema is fully accessible, with accessible seating available with no steps or other barriers from the entrance. These seats and spaces are reserved for customers who have a genuine need and are only released by cinema staff in person at the cinema or over the phone.
For hard of hearing or visually impaired the auditoriums are setup with the Fidelio headset & neck loop options.  These receivers are available at the box office when tickets are purchased.  The neck loop option works in conjunction with the hearing aid + the headset has adjustable volume to boost the dialogue levels.

Palace Verona

Palace Cinema is an accessible venue with  step-free entrance on side.  Entry doors are left open.  Access is signposted inside.

The Kashbah Hotel on William Street is a lively, fun pub with a great atmosphere and a solid selection of drinks, perfect for a casual night out.

However, being an older building and due to strata regulations, the pub isn’t able to make renovations to improve accessibility. There’s a step at the entrance, and since William Street is a bit hilly, there's a small (about 5 cm) step that helps balance the building, which can be tricky for mobility devices to get over.

Unfortunately, there’s no outside seating area either, so the pub isn’t really accessible for those with mobility needs. It's a great spot for those who can navigate the steps, but not the best choice if accessibility is a concern.

Strand Kasbah

While the pastries are tempting, it’s worth noting that the café is a bit tricky for wheelchair access. The main entrance has a medium step, which can be a challenge for those with mobility issues.

The counter opens up to the street, making it super convenient to order takeaway or grab something for the outdoor terrace. There are tables and chairs set up along the main road, protected by cement blocks. Konger Café is located on the ground floor of Victoria Towers on Victoria Street, a quiet street with sunny, inviting areas like the outdoor reception space of Victoria Towers. A cement ramp serves as a loading zone and provides easy access from the footpath and main road.


There’s seating available in a spacious open area out front, as well as a few seats inside, all on level ground with no steps. It’s a small, cozy cafe, so seating is limited. Unfortunately, there’s no accessible restroom on the premises.

Customer toilets are located in the building next door, but access requires navigating steps in the corridor. Alternatively, public restrooms are available at Kings Cross Station.

There is step-free front/ramp into UNSW Galleries for access to courtyard, can also access from side street.  
Entry doors are manual/swinging for UNSW Galleries otherwise no door for street entrance.
There is an accessible cafe, accessible toilet, wheelchair access/ambulant access at Galleries/Arthouse Kitchen.

Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Surry Hills, Tento offers an exclusive Japanese dining experience, featuring meticulously handmade, exotic dishes that are truly one of a kind. This charming café is perfect for casual lunchs or lively morning coffee gatherings.

Tento is tucked away in a hidden spot at 3/8 Hill Street, Surry Hills. To access the venue, you’ll need to ascend a few steps, but the good news is that a lift chair is available for assistance. Please call the venue in advance to ensure they can accommodate your arrival, as the lift chair is the only way to access the restaurant. Once you’ve used the lift chair, the pathway to the venue is flat.

The café offers a spacious outdoor seating area in front of the main kiosk and counter, as well as an indoor dining space. The indoor area is easily accessible, with a wide and open threshold, allowing you to choose between the terrace and the indoors. The friendly staff are always ready to assist and ensure a comfortable experience at Tento.

If arriving by car, accessible street parking is available:

407 South Dowling Street (Westside): Between Flinders Street and Hannam Street, a 5-10 minute stroll to the venue.

Campbell Street (Southside): North of Little Bourke Street, featuring a parallel parking space (3.2m wide by 7.8m long, 4P Mobility Parking Only, 8am-10pm).

While drop-offs in front of the café might be slightly tricky, they are still manageable. Tento’s commitment to accessibility and its welcoming ambiance make it a must-visit spot in Surry Hills.

TenTo

Right next to Tuyo Cafe in Potts Point is Melted Monster which is a quirky yet inviting cafe that specialises in all-day breakfast, good coffee and the ultimate comfort foods. The staff are very friendly and thoughtful. The atmosphere is casual and fun, making it a great spot for food lovers looking to satisfy their cravings.

The interior is bright and colorful, featuring playful decor that enhances the relaxed vibe. It’s designed to be a cozy place where guests can enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family. However, there is a big step at entry level that might hinder its access. The cafe is located at street level and it provides a terrace area on the other edge of the curb. The space between tables isn’t/t generous but sufficient to enjoy a coffee break or lunch.
 

There is unfortunately no accessible toilet on the premise. But Kings Cross Station only a few minutes away, offers free public toilets, accessible to all.

Melted Monster

Tuyo Cafe in Potts Point is a charming spot known for its relaxed vibe and inviting atmosphere. Everyday of the week you see locals saying G’day to each other in this cozy casual café . The café features a cozy interior with a blend of rustic and modern decor, creating a warm and welcoming environment. the café is known by its newspapers readers and people enjoying a book or a caffeinated catch up with friends.


Its main seating area is outdoors on level ground which is perfect for those with mobility devices.  The café outdoors area is located on the curb so quite easy access if you are having a morning walk. Please be advised that to access the counter inside there is a high step up and no ramp but all seating and tables are outside. There is unfortunately no accessible toilet on the premise. The closest toilets are located in Kings Cross Station.

Outdoor seating is available, offering a more spacious alternative if the interior feels too confined. The restrooms are adapted for disabilities but may require staff assistance for access. Rest assured, the friendly team is likely to help with a smile.

PIÑA

Pina in Potts Point is a cozy café with a laid-back vibe and a menu full of delicious, seasonal dishes inspired by modern Australian cuisine. It’s also wheelchair-friendly, so everyone’s welcome to join in on the feast!

There’s plenty of outdoor seating, making it a great spot for a quick lunch or a relaxed brunch with friends. Just a heads-up, though, it’s a pretty popular spot, so it can get crowded. While it’s still accessible, space might feel a bit tight.

Getting inside is easy thanks to a small ramp at the entrance, but the interior is a little snug, which could be tricky for larger mobility devices. The toilets are at the back, and the path to them is flat and wheelchair-friendly, though a bit narrow. On the bright side, the toilets are spacious and have handrails to make things easier for anyone who needs extra support.

The Butler in Sydney is a chic and stylish restaurant nestled in the heart of Potts Point, offering stunning views of the city skyline and Sydney Harbour.

The entrance has a step, making accessibility challenging, as you need to go down this step to enter. Since it’s an old building, modifications are difficult, so accessibility is limited.

If you can manage the step, the street-level dining area is relatively flat and spacious. The friendly staff are happy to accommodate you at the bar, where they can serve food from the dining menu.

The toilets are located on the street level and are reachable from the dining area, but there are no accessible toilets available in the venue. The restaurant offers beautiful views of the city, and while access to the dining area and terrace (one level down) is limited, the views from the bar(accessible)at the top level are still worthwhile.

As for reaching the venue, the footpath is smooth and easy to navigate, allowing you to move comfortably along the street. There are curb ramps on Victoria Street, and most street parking is free for one to two hours

The Butler

The café is elevated above the sidewalk and accessible via stairs, but a convenient ramp on the left side ensures wheelchair and disabled access. It features a spacious outdoor seating area and a step-free entry to the indoor dining space, which is equipped with plenty of movable tables and chairs. Additionally, the café includes a fully accessible restroom for disabled guests. The restroom is located inside the hotel next door, ask reception and they will lead you towards the right until the end of the corridor, where accessible toilets can be found. While there are numerous temporary street parking spaces nearby, there are no designated disabled parking spots.

Shuk Elizabeth Bay

The Organic Bread Bar in Darlinghurst is a vibrant and inviting take away bakery known for its delicious organic breads and baked goods. The space features a lovely open layout, making it feel welcoming to smell the delicious fresh baked goods.
 

Accessibility is a priority here, as the bakery has a wide open area that caters to people with disabilities and mobility devices. There’s an embedded ramp connecting the footpath to the bakery, ensuring easy access to the counter, which is at a slightly higher level. Despite the height of the counter, ordering is hassle-free, and the friendly staff are always ready to help you.

The bakery has limited space, and while you can see the bakers working on your fresh goods inside, the outdoor area where the bread is displayed and where customers place takeaway orders only allows for ordering and taking away their incredible local products. Public toilets are not provided or available.

Café St. Blue in Potts Point is a cozy little spot just a quick stroll from Lawrence Hargrave Reserve, reachable through a wide hill, accessible friendly. After enjoying a nice stroll around the neighbourhood, you can easily stop by the café and follow the footpath to the small park nearby, which has gardening activities and a dog-friendly space. Perfect for taking a breather from the city's hustle and bustle!

While the café has a step at the entrance and isn’t accessible, you can always grab some takeaway and head over to the park. The nearest accessible toilets are right in front of the park at the police house building. After your visit to the café, just follow the curb to Potts Point Square, where you’ll find public restrooms that include accessible features, right in front of the Park. Enjoy your day out!

St. Blue Cafe - Coffee and Food

The café boasts a spacious outdoor dining area with movable tables and chairs, offering flexibility and comfort for guests. However, the entrance features a small step, which may require caution for disabled or wheelchair users. Unfortunately, the café does not have an accessible restroom, and there are no designated disabled parking spaces in the vicinity.

Cafe C&M (Rushcutters Bay)

The Australian Museum offers permanent galleries including the popular Dinosaurs exhibit, temporary and touring exhibitions; and has a collection of more than 18 million objects spanning culture and natural history.

The Australian Museum is fully accessible to visitors using wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The main entrance features a ramp with no steps, ensuring easy access for disabled individuals and wheelchair users. Inside, two elevators connect all floors, allowing seamless navigation throughout the building. While most exhibition areas are step-free, the Westpac Long Gallery on the G floor includes some steps. The UG level houses a dining area that can also be accessed via a ramp or elevator. Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available on every floor, enhancing convenience for visitors. Although the museum does not have a dedicated parking lot, the nearest parking is located at 70 Riley St, Darlinghurst.

The venue has step-free front but slightly narrow to a swinging door & a few steps inside. 
Table spacing is  likely too cramped plus steps close to front door, the seating is not fixed to floor.

Mr T is an accessible restaurant with step-free front but has a swinging narrow door & no portable ramp.
Wheelchair could fit round the low tables, benches & low stool, but might be cramped.
Seating is not fixed except for the bench along one wall.  
There is outside seating at night but needs to be validated.
No accessible toilet onsite but ones can be found on the ground & lower ground floors of Broadway Shopping Centre, along with parking.


Mr T Restaurant

The Frisco Hotel, located on the edge of a quiet neighborhood, presents some challenges for entry due to its age and the lack of recent renovations. As a result, the main entrance has two moderate steps almost impossible for any mobility device, so that can hinder mobility for some individuals, although others may be able to enter with a bit of assistance. Inside, there are spacious corridors, but the restrooms are not accessible.

This restaurant and bar offers a unique dining experience where you order food and drinks directly at the counter, and the staff is happy to help if needed. Although it is not fully adapted for mobility-impaired individuals, you can always enjoy a drink at their outdoor tables.

Frisco Hotel

The venue is wheelchair accessible with lifts to the lower ground floor where we are located via the lobby of Paramount House Hotel. Access to the cinema is via small ramps. 
In the cinema, there are reserved accessible seating available towards the back of the room, only available to be booked through one of the staff members. 

Golden Age Cinema & Bar

The Apollo, located in Potts Point, Sydney, is a renowned contemporary Greek restaurant that blends traditional Greek flavors with modern Australian cuisine.

The Apollo is not accessible for individuals with mobility challenges. The primary accessibility issues are its entrances, which have stairs. The restaurant can not provide a ramp to enter the premises. The Apollo has a somewhat narrow and compact layout, which can further restrict easy movement for individuals using mobility aids.

Significant structural changes are difficult, however they have a street-level terrace where customers can enjoy a succulent meal. The staff c an easily accomodate a table to your convenience.
