The International Brigade Memorial is located in Canberra Nara Peace Park & commemorates the 70 Australian volunteers who fought in the International Brigades on the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War.

The monument is a wall of sandstone blocks with red brick courses accessed via paved level pathway approach.  There is a low sandstone & brick parapet on its north east side.  On the wall is a bronze plaque above a bas relief map of the Iberian peninsular showing where towns where major battles took place during the war

There is an accessible parking bay situated next to the toilet bloack with an accessible unisex toilet.

The Beijing Gardens are located at Lotus Bay on Lake Burley Griffin, adjacent to Nara Park & Lennox Gardens. The gardens are a Canberra Centenary gift from the Beijing Municipal Government.

There are level stone lead-in pathway around the gardens however there are rock steps at some parts.  A team of Chinese artisans came from China to create the garden's sculptures & pavilion using traditional Chinese stone masonry & methods. They also created the paths, rock gardens & beautiful landscaping using the same methods.

There are BBQ areas at Lotus Bay reserve with scenic views, there is also another BBQ area closeby at Lennox Gardens.  There are also bench seats dotted around the gardens.

Accessible toilets can be found under 700m away at Old Parliament House Rose Garden & Australia Parliament House.  Accessible parking can be found closeby at the Hyatt Hotel (customers only) or further away at Car Park 10, 21 Queen Victoria Terrace.

Beijing Garden

Snapper & Co is an accessible fish & chip restaurant situated at Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club offering tranquil views over Lake Burley Griffin.

This relaxed family atmosphere venue features step free entry with three different spaces including The Deck, The Courtyard & The Lawns.  

The Deck is the downstairs area with an alfresco full-service dining space boasting glorious lake views, along with an indoor area with tables & chairs.  The Courtyard features the accessible Container Bar, a gelato bar, loads of seating, a casual dining menu & unrivalled views. National Museum of Australia is an accessible venue located on the shores of Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin. The Museum's stunning architecture provides an extraordinary place to explore the rich & diverse stories of Australia & its people. The stories are brought to to life through compelling objects, ideas & events where you can take a guided tour or go solo through the many exhibitions.

With step free entry into the spacious Museum, lifts are available for accessing each of the Museum’s three levels – Ground, Lower Ground & Level 1 (sometimes called the Mezzanine). Accessible parking spaces for visitors with mobility impairment & the required permit are available free of charge, about 40 metres from our main entrance. The route is not protected from the weather.  Coach bays 5 & 9 are suitable for coaches fitted with mobility access lifts, hoists or ramps.

The Museum has a Changing Places accessible public toilet with adult change table & hoist, on the Lower Ground floor.  Unisex accessible toilets, baby change tables & an ambulant toilet are available on the Ground floor, off our Gandel Atrium.

National Museum of Australia

The Museum Cafe is an accessible cafe located inside the National Museum of Australia.

There is step free entry via a ramp into open foyer to large open glass doors.  Inside the venue is spacious with easy access to the counter lots of freestanding tables & chairs, long communal tables & fixed banquette seating.  There is a large outdoor area with plenty of seating & sweeping lake views. 

Accessible toilets can be found onsite along with Barrine Drive.  Accessible parking can also be found onsite. 

The Museum Cafe

Five designated accessible parking bays can be found outside the entrance to the Treasury Building.

The bays are situated next to each other with a large accessible vehicle dropping area inbetween.  All have drop kerb with access to paved level pathway.

KOTO is an accessible Japanese restaurant located in The Lobby building in Canberra's King George Terrace.  KOTO is an intergral part of the national Triangle's new precinct, The lawns of The Lobby.  KOTO has been designed to protect the legacy of The Lobby building & continue the hospitality history in teh 50-year-old pavillion, including private dining.

KOTO offers step free entry to large entry doors into a spacious lobby via paved pathway approach.  Inside there are freestanding tables & chairs along with communal bar counter seating.  There is also outdoor seating.

Both accessible parking & accessible toilet are both onsite.

KOTO Restaurant

Rosa's is an accessible venue located at the idyllic Lawns of the Lobby serving pizza, paninis & drinks throughout the day, along with pastries & coffee for breakfast.

The venue features large open decked seating area with frestanding tables, chairs, high tables with stools, some umbrella shaded seating & access to the counter.  

Accessible toilets can be found at Parliament House, accessible parking in the large car park next door.

Rosa's

National Library of Australia is an accessible library with step free access via the Library foyer, Main Reading Room & exhibition galleries through automatic doors.

All other areas on the Ground Floor, including the Bookshop & Bookplate café, are accessible through open doorways.  You can access the building by the ramp on the south side of the building.  There are 15 stone steps leading to the front entrance. The steps have handrails that are lit at night.

Inside there are lifts with control panels at convenient height for people using wheelchairs.  Wheelchairs are available from the Foyer Information Desk on the Ground Floor.  All reading rooms have wheelchair-accessible desks.  There is a wheelchair-accessible photocopier in the Main Reading Room.  Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available on the Ground Floor and Lower Ground Floor.

There are 8 accessible car spaces are available in the carpark off Parkes Place, on the south side of the building. Signage and road markers show these areas.

National Library of Australia

Bookplate is an accessible cafe located in the National Library of Australia offering a warm & inviting indoor dining space as well as an outdoor terrace with magnificent panoramic views of Lake Burley Griffin.

There are freestanding tables & chairs both inside & outside.  The restaurant offers an array of breakfast options, a large range of housemade cakes & petit slices, coffee, fresh-pressed juices, healthy smoothies, classic & craft beers, local wines, lunch & brunch options.

Accessible toilets can be found onsite with further ones at the Treasury Building & Old Parliament House Rose Gardens.

Bookplate

King George V Memorial is accessed via paved level pathway approach situated outside Old Parliament House.

Originally commissioned in 1936, King George V Memorial was not completed until 1953, due to the Second World War.

The work consists of a bronze statue of George V on one side of a granite pylon and a stone statue of Saint George on the other, to symbolise the leadership of George V through the First World War.

In 1953 it was located on the central land axis, directly across from Old Parliament House, but was moved to one side in 1968.

King George V Memorial

The Aboriginal Tent Embassy is located on the lawns opposite Parliament House, Canberra & is a permanent protest occupation site as a focus for representing the political rights of Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people.

Strictly speaking this is not a tourist destination or an "embassy" in the normal sense of the term. Rather it is a place where you may go to learn and understand something of the story behind the "Embassy".

Accessible bathrooms can be found at Old Parliament House, Rose Garden & Treasury Building. Accessible parking can be found at Questacon, Car park 23, 31, 19 & National Gallery of Australia.

On 26 January 1972 four Indigenous men set up a beach umbrella on the lawns.  Describing the umbrella as the Aboriginal Embassy, the men were protesting the McMahon government’s approach to Indigenous land rights.

The  Aboriginal Tent Embassy is situated on the lawn with paved level pathways around it.

The Museum of Australia Democracy at Old Parliament House is an accessible venue with step-free access to every level of the museum.

The entrance to the museum is at the front of the building, up the central staircase & through the glass doors where reception is.  Courtesy wheelchairs & strollers are available from reception. Mobility scooters may be used in all areas of the museum.  As a heritage building, Old Parliament House has some small rooms & narrow spaces.  Some areas of House of Representatives & Senate chambers are not accessible to wheelchair users.

There is lift access, via the doors on either side of the staircase. These doors have signs marked accessible entry.

Accessible toilets are located on the Lower floor & on the Main floor. Baby changing facilities are located on the Lower floor & the Main floor.

Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre is an accessible, interactive science communication facility in Canberra’s Parliamentary Zone which offers interactive & hands-on experiences in themed galleries.

The venue is open for timed sessions to inspire imaginations with the world of science & technology. Tickets must be pre-booked online for all visitors in your group, including babies and children. It is recommended to book early as tickets for each session are limited.

The minimum 2-hour session visit to Questacon (although some visitors will need longer) includes travel from the centre of an earthquake, to the heart of a beehive, all the way to outer space.  The Awesome Earth exhibition highlights the mighty power & stunning beauty of our planet & the universe.  Q Lab offers a dynamic experimental environment along with Evening Experiences, sessions starting at 5 pm or 7 pm.

Questacon is committed to enabling Centre-wide disability access to their facilities & services with step free entry.  

Atomic Café at Questacon offers step free entry & easy access to the counter, freestanding tables & chairs & outside covered seating. Locally owned & operated by Atomic Catering they pride themselves on providing delicious products & excellent service in a relaxed environment.

Questacon - National Science and Technology Centre

The Federation Centenary Fountain can be found in front of Old Parliament House.  They feature paved level pathway approach but unfortunately the heritage-listed fountains are broken & not operational.

The Fountains were envisaged by Walter Burley Griffin in his plan for Canberra but were not commissioned until 1968.  They were refurbished between 1997 & 2000 but from 2000 to 2013 only operated intermittently, ceasing completely in 2014.

Accessible toilets can be found at the Museum of Australia, Old Parliament House Rose Gardens & Treasury Building. 

Accessible parking can be found at Questacon, Car park 23, 31,  19 & National Gallery of Australia.

Federation Centenary Fountains

The Centenary Trail is an accessible 145-kilometre self-guided, non-motorised loop trail for walkers, rollers & touring cyclists. It showcases urban & rural Canberra, as well as iconic sites & hidden treasures.  The trail is designed to be accessible for as many walkers & cyclists as possible. It follows management trails, walking tracks & shared paths. It is designed for low intensity use by all walkers, rollers & cyclists of moderate ability, with less than a 10% gradient overall.

The Centenary Trail is divided into daily sections. You can join or leave the trail in many locations. The entire trail can be explored as a 7-day walk, averaging just over 20 km per day or 3-day ride, averaging just over 45 km per day.

The trail can be explored into seven sections 1st being Parliament House to Watson, 2nd Watson to Northern Border Campsite, 3rd Northern Border Campsite to Hall Village, 4th Hall Village to Black Mountain, 5th Black Mountain to Stromlo Forest Park, 6th Stromlo Forest to Tuggeranong Town Centre, 7th Tuggeranong Town Centre to Parliament House.

Accessible toilets can be found along the trail at Australian Parliament House, Old Parliament House Rose Garden, Boundless Playground & Manuka Terrace.

Canberra Centenary Trail

Six designated parking bays can be found outside Parliament Square.  

Two bays are situated next to each other with a further four on the other side of the entry steps to the building.

There is a dropped kerb to the level paved pathway.

Parliament House also known as Capital Hill or simply Parliament is the meeting place of the Parliament of Australia situated on the southern apex of the Parliamentary Triangle atop Capital Hill, at the meeting point of Commonwealth, Adelaide, Canberra and Kings Avenue enclosed by the State Circle.

Parliament House offers paved pathway approach to step free entry with daily guided tours to explore the architecture, history, art collections, Great Hall Tapestry, Chambers of the Senate & House of Representatives,  & behind-the-scenes experience (bookings are essential). Parliament House contains offers 4,700 roooms with many roooms open to the public. The main foyer contains a marble staircase & leads to the Great Hall with the large tapestry.

There is a Parliament Shop offering step free entry with space to move around the ailses & easy access to the counter.  

There is also the Queen's Terrace Cafe with step free entry lots of space to move around, freestanding tables & chairs & easy access to the counter.  There is accessible outside tables & chairs with umbrela shade.

Parliament House

Captain Cook Memorial Jet is located in Lake Burley  Griffin, the Jet shoots water 114 metres in the air, the water is drawn from the lake through a 50 metre intake tunnel. The Jet is often coloured to commemorate a special occasions. When this is done ,the best location for photos is The National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point.

The Jet is opened everyday from 11am to 2pm.

On the shore you can admire The Terrestrial Bronze Globe highlighting Captain Cooks, many voyages . 

Paid parking available in plenty of areas Regatta Point has accessible spots.

Accessible bathrooms are available one being at Acton Park about 9 min roll.

Captain Cook Memorial Jet

The National Rose Gardens is an accessible open area with level access pathways throughout.

The Rose Gardens were developed at a time when flight was still in its infancy, yet were planted to resemble two roses when viewed from above. The idea was put forward in 1928 but no work was undertaken until 1933, when the Minister for the Interior, John Perkins, planted the first shrub and announced that 2000 of the planned 8000 roses would be planted within a week.

The beds are located on either side of the central lawn in front of Old Parliament House and are open for all to enjoy.

National Rose Gardens

There is a large uncovered car park located on Barrine Drive, Canberra with plenty of regular spaces.

Accessible toilets can be found at Acton Park  off Barrine Drive.  

The toilet block can be accessed via paved level pathway approach with spacious car park next door.  

The car park does not have any designated accessible bays.

Acton District Park covers 10.4 hectares on the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin’s West Basin.

There is an accessible paved level path around the park, picnic tables, gas & electric BBQs, drinking water, sheltered picnic area, boat hire & ferry rides.

On the eastern shoreline, you can fish from the vertical stone walls. There is also a sandy beach but the water is not suitable for swimming.

Accessible toilets can be found at the park & large car park with no designated accessible parking bays but the car parks is spacious. 

Acton Park

The National Archives of Australia is an accessible building with wheelchair access through the main entrance on Kings Avenue or through the rear entrance facing the Western Carpark entrance.  The small car park at the National Archives' main entrance includes disability spots.  

Inside is spacious with room to move around the exhibitions & bench seating.  The collections trace events & decisions that have shaped the nation & the lives of Australians.

Cafe Constiution is an accsssible dining venue located in the heart of the National Archives.  Open for breakfast & lunch the culinary delights are supplied by local operators Tree Eighty3.  The cafe offers freestanding tables, chairs & easy access to the counter.  Accessible toilets can be found on the ground floor.

National Archives of Australia

Three designated parking bays can be found outside the National Archives of Australia building.

There is a large car park with regular bays across the road.

The Captain Cook Memorial Globe is an accessible Terrestrial Globe around 3 metres in diameter & shows the three routes of Cook's voyages, which are described on the surrounding handrail. Meridians of longitude & parallels of latitude form this open-cage globe, with landmasses depicted in beaten bas-relief copper.  There are paved level pathways around the Memorial & along the waters edge with a large grassed area behind.  

The Captain Cook Memorial Jet is also located here in the Central Basin of Lake Burley Griffin, directly in front of the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point.    The Jet sends water to a maximum height of 152 metres, pumping it from,& returning it to, the lake. The exit velocity of water leaving the nozzle is 260 kilometres an hour.  Jet operates daily from 11am to 2pm. It is often turned on or coloured for special occasions & the best location from which to take photographs is the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point.

Captain Cook Memorial Globe

Cafe Constitution by TreeEighty3 is an accessible venue located in in the heritage-listed National Archives of Australia building in Parks.  

The venue offers strep free entry with a range of freestanding tables & chairs, high tables & stools with floor to ceiling windows & lots of room to move around.

Accessible toilets can be found 200m away at Old Parliament House Rose Garden, National Galery & Bowen Park.  Accessible parking can be found closeby at Car Park 05 & Windsor Walk.  

Cafe Constitution

Margot is a small accessible espresso & wine bar situated on the lakes edge of Lake Burley Griffin in Parkes right in the middle of the Parliamentary triangle. Flanked by national institutions their focus is on local produce, producers & celebrating the nation’s capital.

The venues alfresco space is fully accessible drawing inspiration from Europe’s best outdoor bars & cafés with freestanding tables & chairs under shaded umbrellas & easy access to the bar counter.

Accessible toilets can be found 30m away at Commonwealth Place Western Kiosk & 70m away at Old Parliament House Rose Garden.  Accessible parking can be found at Car Park 33, 25 Parkes Place & Questacon.

Margot Wine & Espresso Bar

The International Flag Display in the centre of the National Triangle is situated in Canberra's Parliamentary Zone & colourfully acknowledges the international presence in the National Capital.

The Display consists of 110 flags in total, representing 108 Missions that have a diplomatic presence as well as flags for the European Union and the United Nations, as well as flags of the European Union and the United Nations, identified by a plaque at the base of each flagpole. All national flags are positioned alphabetically, starting closest to the High Court of Australia. The first country listed is Afghanistan and the last, alphabetically speaking, is Zimbabwe.

Originally launched in 1999, by the Governor General, the Hon Sir William Deane, the display has become an important attraction for tourists and locals alike.

The flags are flown 24 hours a day and are lit at night. The display is accessed via paved level pathways with concrete benches dotted along the path.

Waters Edge is an accessible 1 Hat restaurant located in the middle of international flag presentation on the shore of Lake Burley, Griffin.

There are also the Dining Dome Experience which features exclusive individual domes with tables of 2, an extra large dome with other 5 x tables of 2 or corporate  dinner for 14. The Little Burley Market is located on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin, Queen Elizabeth Terrace, with its picturesque location the markets are on every Saturday 9am to 2pm, where you can taste and enjoy many stalls while  taking in the views

The markets are very accessible as they are set up on a wide cement road and pathways. Other areas of the markets are grassed but flat for easy access. 

If parking on Parkes Place West the path along Queen Elizabeth is flat with a kerb ramp. Best time to get accessible parking would be to get there at 9am . Toilets are close by that are Wheelchair accessible and have both right and handed rails for assisting. Other wheelchair bathrooms are accessible at Questacon.

The Little Burley Market

The bays are situated next to each other & located near National Capital Exhibition Canberra & Region Visitor Centre.

Canberra Contemporary Art Space is an accessible art venue located on Queen Elizabeth Terrace, Parkes with a second gallery in Manuka.

The gallery features step free entry via paved level pathway approach to the large open gallery with exhibitions by local, national & international artists.

 Open Tuesday to Saturday 11am - 5pm during exhibition dates. Entry is free.

Accessible toilets can be found 120m away at Commonwealth Place Western Kiosk, 400m away at National Gallery, National Library & Treasury Building.  Accessible parking can be found on Parks place way at car park 33 & 31.

National Capital Exhibition is an accessible exhibition which tells the story of Canberra as the capital city of Australia, located at Regatta Point. 

There is step free access to the venue via paved level pathway approach.  Inside is spacious & you can explore displays featuring the people, events, history & design of this unique, modern, planned city. Discover the people behind the design – Walter Burley Griffin & his wife Marion.  You can learn more about what was here before the city, how the site & the design were chosen, what it might have looked like and what may happen in the future.

The Walter Cafe offers step free access via paved level pathway approach.  Inside are freestanding tables, chairs & large covered balcony with more seating & views over Canberra's iconic Lake Burley Griffin.

Accessible toilets can be found in the Regatta Point Building & Comonwealth Park Multi-use.  Accessible parking can be found closeby on Barrine Drive.

National Capital Exhibition

The accessible toilets in Commonwealth park can be found in-between Regatta Place & Parkes Way.

There is level paved lead-in pathway approach to three unisex toilets.
