The Australian National University Classics is an accessible museum established in 1962, displays over 600 items that provide fascinating insights into the cultural practices of the ancient Greek & Roman worlds.
The museum offers step free entry via paved pathway approach. Inside is spacious with wide ailses. Accessible parking can be found in the car park across from the venue. Accessible toilets can be found just under 1km away at Barrine Drive & just over 1km away Australian National Botanic Gardens.
The collection, which is open to the public, spans the Mediterranean & beyond. It features examples of ancient art and objects of daily life from Greece & the Roman world, including Egypt & the Near East. From very modest beginnings, the collection has steadily grown through the years with the support of ANU & University House, and with loans from the Australian National Gallery & the Parliament House Art Collection.
