♿ How accessible is Woodstock Community Centre?
Woodstock Community Centre is a heritage-listed landmark and easy-to-reach meeting point on Church Street, Burwood — surrounded by parkland and right in the heart of town. It's a welcoming, step-free base for our Mapping Day, and a great spot to visit any time.
📍 Getting there by car
There's accessible parking on the streets right around Woodstock, so you can pull up close. There are two accessible parking bays shared between the Fitzroy Centre and Woodstock Community Centre: one sits directly in front of the kerb ramp that connects to the Fitzroy Centre and the Council building's accessible toilets, and a second is a little further south in the parking complex. You'll also find at least four accessible parking spots along Burwood Road — including near 195A Burwood Road, Burwood NSW 2134 — all just a 2–3 minute stroll away on flat ground.
🚆 Getting there by public transport
Burwood Station (Railway Parade) is within easy strolling distance (10 mins) and is fully step-free. It's designed to support passengers with low mobility and wheelchair users, with lifts connecting all levels and platforms, accessible toilets fitted with grab rails, and boarding ramps offered with staff assistance. It's served by the T2, T3 and T9 lines and is staffed around the clock. Tip: let staff know when you arrive so they can have a ramp ready, and notify them of your stop so the destination station can prepare for you. Several bus routes also stop close by on Church Street and Burwood Road.
🚪 Getting inside & moving around
An accessible ramp at the front entrance brings you straight into the building, where the indoor surfaces are flat and easy to stroll or roll across. The ground floor is accessible to all, and a lift provides full access up to Level 1. There's also an accessible change room and air-conditioned meeting rooms throughout.
🚻 Accessible toilets
You'll find the accessible toilets on the ground floor, at the end of the corridor on the right-hand side. The door is manual, and the handrails are on the right-hand side of the toilet. The neighbouring Fitzroy Hall also has accessible amenities inside the building and right before entering, so there's more than one option on site.
All flat, all welcoming — come and map it with us! Keep rocking (and rolling)!
