Carrum Beach is located on Melbourne’s Port Phillip Bay, stretching for 2km south of the Patterson River mouth towards Seaford.  The calm waters make this a family friendly beach with a big playground on the foreshore.

The beach is easily accessible from the accessible parking, providing access onto the decked and paved pathways, through the shelter of the Carrum Surf Life Saving Club and straight on to the beach. 

The beach has been equipped with adjustable beach matting which stretches 70 metres and provides access directly to the beach. A floating wheelchair is available during regular patrol hours (noon to 5pm, Sat-Sun-Public Holiday, mid-Nov to Easter). While they don't take bookings, you can call the Club on 9776 0504 during those times to confirm availability and suitability of conditions. 

The beach also offers mobile hoists, accessible shower, accessible toilet & changing places. There are lead up pathways, a park directly attached to the facilities & plenty of places to eat & retail within 150 metres.

Desginated parking can be found at the Surf Life Saving Club.

Carrum Beach

Mordialloc Beach was one of the first accessible beaches in Victoria 25 minute drive south of Melbourne. 

There is a wide flat beach with a 300 metre long pier.   During the summer, beach patrol hours on weekends and public holidays between 12-5pm a beach a mat is rolled out along the sand towards the water. Free use of the Hippocampe beach wheelchair is avaialble via the Mordialloc Surf Life Saving Club, just turn up on the patrolled day and ask one of the lifeguards. There is no booking system. 

There is an accessible Surf Life Saving Club with great wheelchair access along with a disabled toilet. There is car parking and disabled parking outside the club house however on busy summer days it tends to fill up pretty quickly. There is a great walkway along the top of the beach which is wheelchair friendly as well.

Mordialloc Beach and Foreshore

Roy Dore Reserve features a playground with huge, wooden, shaded Pirate ship; complete with cannons, wobbly netted bridge, ladder & tunnel.  There is a smaller ship for little ones with slide & lots more climbing apparatus, hiding spaces, slides, swings & sandpit.  

There are accessible footpaths, accessible parking, accessible toilets & baby change facilities.  

The reserve also features two large sport ovals, tennis courts, fenced dog park, rebound wall, cricket nets, bike stands & trails, drinking fountains, showers, seating, shelter & outdoor gym equipment.  

Roy Dore Reserve Playground

The Bicentenial Park in Chelsea caters for all ages & abilities with accessible pathways, accessible parking, toilets & Changing Places Facility.

The centrepiece of the park is the huge fenced adventure playground, which comprises of two long slides, a Smurf village with a music hut, a story hut & a play hut complete with a mooing cow.  Sculptural garden, a shaded sand pit, a giant basket swing, hammock, the Mount Chelsea Express train, huge green grasshopper, stand-on spinners, spiral slide, rope climbing frame, stepping stones, chain traverse, tic-tac-toe, monkey bars, flying fox, a wooden structure with various ladders, poles, slides & a Liberty Swing for accessed with a MLAK key.

The park features numerous shelters, BBQs, picnic tables, seats, water taps, drinking fountains, outdoor gym equipment, baby changing station

There is also a skate park with small ramps perfect for scooters and bikes & large ramps for the more experienced skaters.  Next to that is a basketball & netball court, bike trails & stands, bowling green, rebound wall, soccer goals, oval,  pump track, rebound wall, dog off-leash area, natural shade & wheelchair friendly.  

There are kilometres of walking trails connecting up to the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Trail & the Longbeach Trail, a fitness track which is home to the local Park Run and a Disc Golf course.

Bicentennial Park Playground

Pencil Park Playground at Hidden Grove Reserve in Keysborough features a neighbourhood level playground catering for the needs of children of all ages & abilities.

The equipment includes a zip-line, huge climbing structure with net tunnel & rock climbing walls, inclusive carousel, swings, musical chimes, small obstacle course, spinning net pyramid, nature-inspired kanope, inground trampoline & wet-land themed play panel. 

The park also features a lovely lake with ducks & frogs with a walking path over the bridge & through the wetlands.  There are wide level pathways to sheltered picnic area with water fountain, BBQs benches, tables & plenty of open fields.

Unfortunately there are no toilets onsite, the closest accessible ones can be found 1km away at Ian Tatterson Leisure Park on Cheltenham Road along with Parkmore Shopping Centre 2km away & Braeside Park Grovernor Road Car Park.

Pencil Park

Chelsea Beach is a 1.5km long sandy stretch, with sand dunes dotted with beach huts & natural habitats behind. The beach is patrolled by Chelsea Longbeach Surf Club.

There is access to the sand via a ramp on both the left & right side of the lifesaving club.  A wheelchair can be hired from the life saving club, contact them on 9772 3029.

There is a nautical themed playground overlooking the beach with a lighthouse & wooden climbing structure, large sand pit, swings including one with supportive swing seat. 

There are picnic tables & benches, BBQ facilities, drinking fountains, shelters, seating, showers, wide accessible pathways, bike stands & trails, grassed areas & dog off leash area. 

There are 2 accessible parking spots at the playground with further parking at Safeway just over the road. Accessible toilets with handrail & baby change station can also be found at the playground.  

Chelsea Beach

Victory Park Playground is only steps away from the lovely Chelsea Beach in Melbourne.  

The nautical themed park features two separate areas with a giant light-house with telescope & binoculars.  There is a wooden castle with lots of climbing equipment, sandpit with diggers & a hidden cubby underneath.

There are some shaded areas nearby but the playground is not shaded.  There are picnic tables & benches closeby, BBQ facilities, water taps with wide flat accessible pathways.  Chelsea Beach also has an accessible pier.

Accessible toilets can be found at Victory Park Chelsea Foreshore & Kelvin Grove Foreshore Chelsea Yacht Club. 

Accessible paid parking can be found out front with free parking in nearby streets.
