On-street accessible parking

This accessible parking space is located on Cumberland Street in The Rocks, near King George V Recreation Centre.

There is one parallel accessible parking space, approximately 2.5 metres wide and 9.4 metres long. The space is marked with a wheelchair parking sign.

The parking space is on an asphalt road. The surface is generally flat, although there are some joins and patched areas. The space is directly beside the footpath, but wheelchair users should take care when getting in or out of the vehicle because of passing traffic.

The footpath beside the parking space has a hard surface and is generally flat. There is a kerb ramp nearby, but it is not directly next to the whole parking space. Some wheelchair users may need to move a short distance along the road to reach the step-free access point onto the footpath.

Some parts of the footpath are quite wide, but parking sign poles, trees and bicycle parking may reduce the available clear space.

Overall, the accessible parking space is clearly signed and located close to the footpath. However, there is no wide marked side transfer area, which may make side transfers more difficult for some wheelchair users.
