A fantastic accessible place to spend a few hours in, especially if it’s not such great weather - plenty of space to hang out in the gallery lounge area, the cafe and also in the large garden out the back too. 

The exhibition spaces are roomy, and not too crowded. The entrance door is wide and comes directly off the wide and flat St Kilda Road pavement. The gallery is around 300mtrs flat roll from Flinders Street station. There is a lowered accessible ticket desk and several accessible toilets. 

National Gallery of Victoria

We have visited the NGV twice in the past few years.  Neither time were we happy.

To begin with, the security guards were rude to the carers accompanying us.  They also questioned all of the emergency medical equipment that we need to have with us at all times, plus they tried to remove our AAC device.

On both occasions, we visited to view special exhibitions.  Both times, there were lots of narrow corridors and bottle necks, which made navigating the space extra difficult.
