It was the first purpose-built criminal court in the colony and has been used ever since as a courthouse. The District Court took up residence in the early 1900s, and a new wing to the courthouse was added. In the 1920s, the newly founded High Court moved in, and additional courts were built. Today, Darlinghurst Courts constitute seven courtrooms and hears Supreme Court and District Court matters.

Access to the Courthouse is limited for those with mobility issues  due to it being a historical budiling. Entry is via Oxford Street and a ramp will be deployed to provide access to the venue and an accessible bathroom with be available on-site during the Sydney Festival.

They’ve recently given the place a fun makeover, making the ground level way more accessible and welcoming. The door is wider, so getting in with your mobility device is a breeze! Just a heads-up: the seating has booth tables, so your device might have to hang out at the end of the booth in the middle of the venue, which could make it tricky for others to get by. But we think it’ll work out just fine! They’ve added a couple of small tables in front of the counter facing the street, making it easy to have a quick stop while waiting for the bus or passing by.

One major inconvenience is the lack of restrooms, which means you’ll need to head to the nearest local pub, The Beacham (10 meters), which has accessible toilets. However, keep in mind that it may not open very early in the morning if you’re an early bird.

Their famous juices are a hit all around Sydney, and the new menu includes a variety of smoothies and bowls, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and a sustainable twist.

For hard of hearing or visually impaired the auditoriums are setup with the Fidelio headset & neck loop options.  These receivers are available at the box office when tickets are purchased. Sun Hot Bakery

Healthy Nuts, on the ground floor of the Kings Cross complex under the famous Coca-Cola sign, is a spacious and welcoming shop that’s perfect for grabbing a healthy snack or drink. The shop is easy to access from the street, with a flat, wide entrance that makes it simple for wheelchairs or mobility aids to get inside. Once you’re in, there are cozy couches that add a relaxed vibe, and they can be moved around if needed to make more space.

The counter where you order isn’t too high, so it’s easy to see everything they offer and place your order. If you need a hand, the staff are super friendly and happy to help. While the shop has two floors, the lower level can only be reached by stairs, so it might not work for everyone.

There aren’t any toilets inside the shop, but don’t worry—the Kings Cross complex has public restrooms that are wheelchair-friendly. Just head into the complex, follow the ramps to the end, and you’ll find the restrooms on the left side.

It’s a chill spot to enjoy some healthy treats, with staff who go the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable!

Penny’s Hotel in Kings Cross is a super welcoming spot, made easy and comfortable for everyone.
 

It is located on a wide footpath, so there’s plenty of room outside, and while there are stairs at the main entrance, there’s a lift right on the left side of the building for anyone who needs it. 

The lift takes you straight upstairs, where everything is clearly marked for a smooth experience.

Inside, there’s loads of space, and the bar is not so far from the lift entrance. With wide paths between tables and easy access to accessible bathrooms, with handrails at the back of the first floor, you can order right from your table, and the friendly staff are always around to help, making sure you have a relaxed, enjoyable time at Penny’s!

Pennys Hotel

Chula, a cozy Mexican spot in Potts Point, offers a warm and vibrant vibe paired with authentic Mexican dishes. It’s easy to get to, thanks to a ramp in the connected building complex that leads straight into the restaurant. Once inside, you’ll find smooth flooring and movable tables and chairs, which make it a bit more flexible for anyone using a wheelchair or other mobility aids.

The pathways between tables are fairly spacious, but they might need a little rearranging to make things more comfortable for larger mobility devices. Otherwise you can always have some food in their outdoors area. The outdoors tables are quite small and the available spots are on the hill. However, if you can manage a slight steep hill, you can always enjoy their food.

Once you’ve used the lift chair, the pathway to the venue is flat.

The café offers a spacious outdoor seating area in front of the main kiosk and counter, as well as an indoor dining space. The indoor area is easily accessible, with a wide and open threshold, allowing you to choose between the terrace and the indoors. The friendly staff are always ready to assist and ensure a comfortable experience at Tento.

Inside, there’s a noticeable step up to the main café area, so you might have trouble getting in with a mobility device. But don’t sweat it! You can always ask for table service on the terrace, and the friendly staff will be more than happy to help you out.

They don’t have toilets at the café, but no worries, Kings Cross Station is just a few meters away, and it has fully accessible restrooms that are easy to navigate.

Glider Cafe

The counter opens up to the street, making it super convenient to order takeaway or grab something for the outdoor terrace. There are tables and chairs set up along the main road, protected by cement blocks. If you’d like to enjoy the terrace, just keep in mind that you’ll need to navigate a step down, as they don’t have ramps or other accessibility options.

Although you can’t sit inside, and despite the terrace presenting inconvenient layouts, takeaway is always available! And if you need to use the restroom, Kings Cross Station is just a short walk away after you grab your delicious food. They do not have toilets for the public.

Anotherplace

This small sandwich shop on Victoria Street is a tiny, local spot that draws a big crowd during lunchtime. Many enjoy their sandwiches on one of the chairs set up on an improvised terrace by the curb.

Though the passage is narrow, it’s still manageable with a mobility device, allowing you to order a sandwich on the go from the friendly staff. Keep in mind that the counter is quite high, which may make ordering difficult for some. The shop also offers cured meats and local products displayed and visible from the street. The venue itself is very small, with a step at the entrance that may limit accessibility inside; however, you can place your order from outside.

There are no public restrooms, with the nearest toilets located at King’s Cross Station, approximately 600 meters away.

Small's Deli

Ms. G’s in Potts Point is a lively, urban-chic restaurant offering a fun twist on Southeast Asian flavors, all with stunning panoramic views of the cityscape.

The entry connects directly to the curb, making the ground floor easily accessible for guests with mobility devices. While only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible (the building’s age makes further modifications tricky), the staff are always happy to accommodate you at a terrace table when space is available, so you can enjoy your meal and refreshing cocktails in comfort.

Please note that the toilets are located on the lower level, which is only accessible by stairs, so it may be best to plan accordingly, since you might not have access to the restrooms. There aren’t many public venues with toilets available in that street.

Despite these limitations, the vibrant décor and inventive menu make Ms. G’s a standout spot in Potts Point. On a nice day, the terrace is a perfect setting to relax with friends or family, enjoy the food, and soak up the unique atmosphere.

There’s seating available in a spacious open area out front, as well as a few seats inside, all on level ground with no steps. It’s a small, cozy cafe, so seating is limited. Unfortunately, there’s no accessible restroom on the premises.

Customer toilets are located in the building next door, but access requires navigating steps in the corridor. Alternatively, public restrooms are available at Kings Cross Station.

The restroom is located inside the hotel next door, ask reception and they will lead you towards the right until the end of the corridor, where accessible toilets can be found. While there are numerous temporary street parking spaces nearby, there are no designated disabled parking spots.

Shuk Elizabeth Bay

Right next to Tuyo Cafe in Potts Point is Melted Monster which is a quirky yet inviting cafe that specialises in all-day breakfast, good coffee and the ultimate comfort foods. The staff are very friendly and thoughtful. The atmosphere is casual and fun, making it a great spot for food lovers looking to satisfy their cravings.

The interior is bright and colorful, featuring playful decor that enhances the relaxed vibe. It’s designed to be a cozy place where guests can enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family. However, there is a big step at entry level that might hinder its access. The cafe is located at street level and it provides a terrace area on the other edge of the curb. The space between tables isn’t/t generous but sufficient to enjoy a coffee break or lunch.
 

There is unfortunately no accessible toilet on the premise. But Kings Cross Station only a few minutes away, offers free public toilets, accessible to all.

Melted Monster

Mr T is an accessible restaurant with step-free front but has a swinging narrow door & no portable ramp.
Wheelchair could fit round the low tables, benches & low stool, but might be cramped.
Seating is not fixed except for the bench along one wall.  
There is outside seating at night but needs to be validated.
No accessible toilet onsite but ones can be found on the ground & lower ground floors of Broadway Shopping Centre, along with parking.

The closest toilets are located in Kings Cross Station.

There’s plenty of outdoor seating, making it a great spot for a quick lunch or a relaxed brunch with friends. Just a heads-up, though, it’s a pretty popular spot, so it can get crowded. While it’s still accessible, space might feel a bit tight.

Getting inside is easy thanks to a small ramp at the entrance, but the interior is a little snug, which could be tricky for larger mobility devices. The toilets are at the back, and the path to them is flat and wheelchair-friendly, though a bit narrow. On the bright side, the toilets are spacious and have handrails to make things easier for anyone who needs extra support.

The Butler in Sydney is a chic and stylish restaurant nestled in the heart of Potts Point, offering stunning views of the city skyline and Sydney Harbour.

The entrance has a step, making accessibility challenging, as you need to go down this step to enter. Since it’s an old building, modifications are difficult, so accessibility is limited.

If you can manage the step, the street-level dining area is relatively flat and spacious. The friendly staff are happy to accommodate you at the bar, where they can serve food from the dining menu.

As for reaching the venue, the footpath is smooth and easy to navigate, allowing you to move comfortably along the street. There are curb ramps on Victoria Street, and most street parking is free for one to two hours

The Butler

Cafe C&M (Rushcutters Bay)

The cinema is fully accessible, with accessible seating available with no steps or other barriers from the entrance. These seats and spaces are reserved for customers who have a genuine need and are only released by cinema staff in person at the cinema or over the phone.
For hard of hearing or visually impaired the auditoriums are setup with the Fidelio headset & neck loop options.  These receivers are available at the box office when tickets are purchased.  The neck loop option works in conjunction with the hearing aid + the headset has adjustable volume to boost the dialogue levels.


Palace Chauvel Cinema

Café St. Blue in Potts Point is a cozy little spot just a quick stroll from Lawrence Hargrave Reserve, reachable through a wide hill, accessible friendly. After enjoying a nice stroll around the neighbourhood, you can easily stop by the café and follow the footpath to the small park nearby, which has gardening activities and a dog-friendly space. Perfect for taking a breather from the city's hustle and bustle!

While the café has a step at the entrance and isn’t accessible, you can always grab some takeaway and head over to the park. The nearest accessible toilets are right in front of the park at the police house building. After your visit to the café, just follow the curb to Potts Point Square, where you’ll find public restrooms that include accessible features, right in front of the Park. Enjoy your day out!
