Deus Ex Machina Camperdown is a unique destination that combines a café, retail space with trendy apparel, and a custom motorcycle workshop, all under one roof.

The store has two entrances, both with gentle ramps for easy access by wheelchair users and those with mobility needs. It offers a cosy indoor dining experience with flexible, movable seating that can accommodate different guest needs, including those with disabilities. Accessible restrooms are available, they are quite spacious and easy to go through, they are located next to the other toilets. Located on a busy street with ample temporary parking (though no designated accessible spaces), the restaurant provides an accessible environment for all, with wide halls and spaces with low tables ready for you to enjoy a motorbike-style coffee or lunch.

With its industrial-chic design, vintage motorcycles on display, and a laid-back café serving delicious food and coffee, Deus Ex Machina Camperdown attracts enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.

A bright airy cafe with upbeat staff and a great menu.   Luca and Connie were thrilled we were there to check them out and extended a cheerful invitation.  A favourite with local nursing home residents, local school community and mums with prams.
Dropped curb access from the road but no dedicated parking.  A lot of locals use the nearby church parking and comply with community requests to vacate that during school recess times. Some pavement seating plus an accessible ramp into the main cafe. The entry way is always open and requires two quick left turns to enter then a right turn to the low counter to order.
The accessible toilet is to the rear of the property, reached by heading back down the ramp, which is undercover.  The day I was there the door was not marked as accessible toilet, and felt a little heavier than average.  The door opens inwards to the right, basin and mirror at an accessible height immediately opposite the door.  The toilet is a right hand transfer and is in the far left corner.  Lights need to be manually flipped on when entering.

Bad Habits Annandale

Newtown Pork Roll is a go-to destination for a quick and flavorful meal, offering a simple indoor setup without outdoor seating options. Accessibility is a highlight, with a ramp at the entrance providing easy access for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. The interior, though compact, includes a small number of movable tables and chairs to accommodate guests. However, the absence of a restroom and the lack of nearby on-street parking may pose challenges for some visitors.

Coopers Hotel is an accessible spacious bar with wide accessible entrance. Upstairs dining available but via stairs.  A lot of high chair seating.

Accessible toilets can be found at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park & Newtown Train Station.  

Sushi Wow

CLEM'S is a beloved family-owned eatery, known for its freshly prepared chicken dishes and hearty meals made with traditional recipes.

The main entrance features a small ramp, making it accessible for disabled or wheelchair users, while the side entrance has a single step that requires caution. Although the restaurant has no outdoor seating, the cozy indoor space is compact, with fixed high-bar tables that may not suit all guests. There is no accessible restroom available, and while Brown St nearby offers plenty of parking spaces, there are no designated disabled parking spots.

CLEM'S

It's Time for Thai is an accessible venue with step free entrance. The Thai restaurant is really close to Dendy cinema. Spacious indoor seating and also has outdoor seats.  Limited kerbside parking, further parking can be found at 2 Lennox Street & 94 Erskineville Road.  
Accessible toilets can be found at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park & Newtown Train Station. 

It's Time for Thai

The café does not have an outdoor dining area, and accessibility is limited due to two very high steps at the entrance, posing significant challenges for wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties. Inside, the space is compact, featuring high bar-style seating that may not be suitable for all guests. Additionally, there is no restroom available, and the surrounding area lacks designated disabled parking spaces.

This place has a pretty groovy and chilled atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. 

There's a level front entrance, with a standard doorway. Wide space between tables and bar, easy to get through to back area and to the toilets, as long as bar isn't 5 deep. 

There's a mixture of high tables and stools and low tables and sofas. The back area opens up into a fairly wide space. 

The toilet is semi-accessible - it has no rails and is not marked as accessible (it's the one marked for women). There's a small lip to get into toilet, so you need to pop a wheely if you're in a manual chair. A powered chair should have no problem (see the photo). If you need rails to transfer you will have to bring a friend or carer in to assist.

This Spanish tapas bar has been serving authentic Spanish cuisine since 1997, offering an immersive experience with homemade recipes and vibrant, flamboyant Spanish decor.

The venue is spacious, with a dining area that accommodates mobility devices, ensuring everyone can enjoy a genuine Spanish experience.

The main entrance is accessible via a ramp, allowing easy entry for all guests. After entering the venue, you’ll find easy seating options to the right, or you can venture further in to enjoy a Spanish football-themed decor
 

Restrooms are located at the end of the venue. The ladies’ restroom includes ambulant features and is accessible via ramped pathways. While the door to the accessible restroom may require manual assistance, it is manageable, just a heads-up: there are no handrails in the toilets. The men’s restroom is a bit further, up a small step.

For a true Spanish experience, visit on Mondays for half-priced tapas or on weekends, when they have live flamenco shows during dinner.

Pasha Restaurant in Newtown offers a delightful Turkish dining experience, characterized by its warm atmosphere and generous portions at affordable prices. However, there are some accessibility considerations to keep in mind.

The entrance features a step that is at least 5 cm high, which can be challenging for those who require assistance. The threshold is also quite narrow, so help may be needed to navigate through the entrance. Once inside, the restaurant is spacious, providing ample room to move around comfortably. At the center of the venue, you'll find a beautiful vault designed in a traditional Turkish style, adding to the restaurant's charm.

While the food at Pasha is incredible, and the atmosphere inviting, accessibility issues do arise when it comes to the restrooms. They are located at the back of the venue, requiring guests to navigate a step and a particularly narrow passageway to reach them. Additionally, there are no designated handicap-accessible toilets, which may pose challenges for some guests.

Overall, while Pasha offers a wonderful dining experience, it's important for those with mobility challenges to consider these factors when planning their visit.

Pasha's Restaurant

Access to the shop on the roadside with a ledge separating the road and footpath, but it is possible to access the shop from the corner of Francis Street and Glebe Point road where there is a slope in the road to make it level with the footpath.  Entry doors is manual.

The reserve offers obstacle-free access & most

Terrain best option is concrete & grass with no inclines.

Accessible toilets can be found on the ground & lower ground floor levels of Broadway Shopping Centre on Bay Street along with parking.
Other access features include ramp to shopping centre.


Minogue Reserve

The Dispensary 1908 is an accessible coffee, breakfast & lunch house with step-free front & no door.  The venue has a lovely history originally designed as a private residence back in 1896, 33 Glebe Point Road functioned as the Sydney United Friendly Society Dispensary from January 1909.  Patients would bring in their own bottles and jars and purchase ointments, leeches, cod liver oil, lime water, camel hair brushes, poppy heads and chamomile flowers.
A wheelchair can fit around the tables & not fixed seating with assistance.
There is outside seating, but no toilet.  Accessible toilets can be found The Broadway Shopping Centre ground & lower ground floor
along with multi-storey accessible parking, general street parking is available


Dispensary 1908

Carriageworks is one of Australia’s most significant creative industry hubs, renowned for its dynamic cultural events, performances, and exhibitions.

The entrance to the venue is located on the left side of Wilson St, alongside the sidewalk, requiring a short walk downward to access. A ramp is positioned to the right of the stairs at the entrance, providing convenient access for individuals with disabilities. The main door itself has no steps, allowing free and easy entry.

Inside, the venue is entirely step-free, with all dining areas situated on the ground-floor hall for maximum convenience. A wheelchair-accessible restroom is also available within the venue. Additionally, multiple wheelchair-accessible parking spaces are located on the left side of the building, with additional spaces further to the right. Overall, the venue is highly accommodating and disability-friendly.

One can be found on the lower ground floor at Broadway Shopping Centre along ith parking.  Further accessible parking nearby on the street parking.


SULTAN PALACE PAKISTANI RESTAURANT

Restaurant located on the road side, with a ledge between the road and footpath. There is no close access to the path without a ledge.

Kandy by Sri Lankan Bites

Chill Cafe offers a laid-back dining experience with a spacious outdoor seating area conveniently located on the sidewalk. The main entrance is equipped with a gentle ramp, making access smooth for wheelchair users, though the side entrances have steps that may pose a challenge. The café does not provide an accessible restroom, and while there are temporary parking spaces available outside, no designated disabled parking spots are provided.

Chill Cafe

IGoods Store is a convenient stop for a variety of beverages and snacks, catering to daily needs with ease. The store’s entrance features a gentle ramp, offering excellent accessibility for wheelchair users and individuals with mobility challenges. However, the store does not have a restroom, and there are no temporary parking spaces available outside.

Access parking is located on Maze Cres within the University of Sydney and a short distance to Seymour's entrance.

Wheelchair access
There is lift access to all levels of Seymour and wheelchair seating is available in all venues. Patrons can stay in their wheelchair or transfer from their chair to a seat and we can reserve an adjacent seat for companions. If you require wheelchair seating, please advise Box Office when booking.

Mr Wu is an accessible dumpling ar with a lift less than 100 metres from the restaurant to lower ground. There is a ramp to access the lift from lower ground. Closest parking is on level 2 and accessible by ramp, but is a few hundred metres away from the restaurant.		
There are no entry doors with the restaurant being inside the food court. Accessible levels marked near lifts in shopping centre but no signs directing to the restaurant.

Accessible toilet is available in the shopping centre on the same level, shared with the other  food court venues.
Accessible parking is nearby on the level 2 car park with ramp access to the food court

Eat Istanbul

Maeda Newtown serves as a charming spot for coffee and meals, offering guests the option to dine outdoors on the sidewalk in a relaxed setting.

Access to the café is seamless, with a step-free entrance that aligns with the sidewalk, making it convenient for those with mobility needs. The interior is thoughtfully arranged with spacious seating and movable tables, allowing flexibility and comfort for patrons. However, the restroom is less accessible, located behind the kitchen and reachable only through a narrow, cluttered corridor, with limited space unsuitable for wheelchair users. While Holmwood St nearby provides temporary parking options, the lack of dedicated disabled parking spaces may pose an inconvenience.

Maeda Newtown

The cinema is fully accessible, with accessible seating available with no steps or other barriers from the entrance. These seats and spaces are reserved for customers who have a genuine need and are only released by cinema staff in person at the cinema or over the phone.
For hard of hearing or visually impaired the auditoriums are setup with the Fidelio headset & neck loop options.  These receivers are available at the box office when tickets are purchased.  The neck loop option works in conjunction with the hearing aid + the headset has adjustable volume to boost the dialogue levels.

Palace Norton Street

Accessible entry. Outdoor seating available. Inside cramped, Plenty of street parking available with 1 or 2 disabled spots.on the street. Accessible toilet but a bit of an obstacle course to get to it. No signage advertising accessibility.
