The Beacham

Simon Says Juice in Darlinghurst is a renowned café celebrated for its fresh juices and healthy offerings.

They’ve recently given the place a fun makeover, making the ground level way more accessible and welcoming. The door is wider, so getting in with your mobility device is a breeze! Just a heads-up: the seating has booth tables, so your device might have to hang out at the end of the booth in the middle of the venue, which could make it tricky for others to get by. But we think it’ll work out just fine! They’ve added a couple of small tables in front of the counter facing the street, making it easy to have a quick stop while waiting for the bus or passing by.

One major inconvenience is the lack of restrooms, which means you’ll need to head to the nearest local pub, The Beacham (10 meters), which has accessible toilets. However, keep in mind that it may not open very early in the morning if you’re an early bird.

Their famous juices are a hit all around Sydney, and the new menu includes a variety of smoothies and bowls, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and a sustainable twist.

Coffee shop on corner of boundary and Glen view street. To access the coffee shop, you need to step over an even step which could be difficult for somebody with accessibility issues. No accessible bathrooms however relative spacious setup.

Bootsdarling Café, while charming and full of character, is unfortunately not accessible due to two large steps at the front door. Cafe C&M (Darlinghurst)

The church present some accessibility challenges since there are too many stairs to get in and no flat entrances up a hill.

Greek Orthodox Church of St Sophia

In 1835, Governor Bourke, in response to the overcrowding and chaotic state of King Street Courts, directed the design of a courthouse outside Sydney Town, on the hill opposite the new goal. This was for convenient prisoner access and to separate criminal from civil matters.

Designed by colonial architect Mortimer Lewis, the Greek-revivalist building was completed in 1845. It was the first purpose-built criminal court in the colony and has been used ever since as a courthouse. The District Court took up residence in the early 1900s, and a new wing to the courthouse was added. In the 1920s, the newly founded High Court moved in, and additional courts were built. Today, Darlinghurst Courts constitute seven courtrooms and hears Supreme Court and District Court matters.

This bar area has plenty of seating and space between tables, however they are higher tables with taller seats. Lower tables and seating is available in the garden further into the bar area. An accessible toilet is located within the games room. While signage indicating accessible features is limited, staff are friendly and happy to assist! There is also plenty of outdoor seating available along the footpath at the front of the venue.

The Oxford Hotel

The Organic Bread Bar in Darlinghurst is a vibrant and inviting take away bakery known for its delicious organic breads and baked goods. The space features a lovely open layout, making it feel welcoming to smell the delicious fresh baked goods.

Tento is tucked away in a hidden spot at 3/8 Hill Street, Surry Hills. To access the venue, you’ll need to ascend a few steps, but the good news is that a lift chair is available for assistance. Please call the venue in advance to ensure they can accommodate your arrival, as the lift chair is the only way to access the restaurant. Once you’ve used the lift chair, the pathway to the venue is flat.

The café offers a spacious outdoor seating area in front of the main kiosk and counter, as well as an indoor dining space. The indoor area is easily accessible, with a wide and open threshold, allowing you to choose between the terrace and the indoors. The friendly staff are always ready to assist and ensure a comfortable experience at Tento.

They have booth tables and small tables inside that can definitely accommodate for wheelchair users too.

They provide small tables in the outside  for those with  mobility needs. it should be very easy to accommodate. On arrival you can let the staff know that you are here and they will help you ordering and enjoying a nice experience. 
 

The main entrance fresh hole it’s quite narrow and it presents one step that might be challenging for some.  If you can make it up the step, it should be easy for you to navigate the venue despite being moderately spacious. 

The toilet area inside the venue is at the very back and definitely not accessible since you will have to go up five steps. 
 

If you make it to the inside and buy through the counter area which will be the narrowest space you can encounter, then you’ll find several small tables where you can sit with any mobility device.

North Indian Cuisine

The East Sydney Community and Arts Centre has two entrances, both offering step-free access via lifts. Clear accessibility signage is present throughout the venue. Unisex wheelchair-accessible toilets, along with baby change facilities and a parent room, are located on the upper level of the centre. The lower level features ambulant-accessible toilets, a short distance from the building’s second entrance. These facilities are well signposted, making the space easy to navigate for visitors! 

East Sydney Community and Arts Centre

This local Indian take away place is in the middle of Oxford Street.

They provide one table in the outside in case you have difficulty becoming the one step at the very entrance.

The venue is small but if you can make it inside their dishes look amazing,  you can always take away or eat in any of the tables inside,  are sure they can put some chairs aside and accommodate for your arrival.

 They do not have toilets for the public but 15 minutes away there is an accessible hotel.

India Times Oxford St

169 Darlinghurst is a floral café located on a busy corner, offering a welcoming atmosphere. The venue is not step-free; it has two small steps to access the terrace, and there are three additional steps at the entryway, located a bit further on the terrace. The space is limited. These factors may pose difficulties for guests with mobility impairments, making accessibility a bit harder for some.

Imperial Hotel Paddington

Chula, a cozy Mexican spot in Potts Point, offers a warm and vibrant vibe paired with authentic Mexican dishes. It’s easy to get to, thanks to a ramp in the connected building complex that leads straight into the restaurant. Once inside, you’ll find smooth flooring and movable tables and chairs, which make it a bit more flexible for anyone using a wheelchair or other mobility aids.

The pathways between tables are fairly spacious, but they might need a little rearranging to make things more comfortable for larger mobility devices. While the main areas are mostly accessible, the restrooms can be tricky—they’re on another level with two steps to navigate, and the hallway leading there is pretty narrow.

If you’re thinking of visiting and have specific needs, it’s a good idea to give them a call ahead of time. You’ll enjoy great food and street views, and the staff will do their best to help make your visit enjoyable!

Chula

Penny’s Hotel in Kings Cross is a super welcoming spot, made easy and comfortable for everyone.
 

It is located on a wide footpath, so there’s plenty of room outside, and while there are stairs at the main entrance, there’s a lift right on the left side of the building for anyone who needs it. 

The lift takes you straight upstairs, where everything is clearly marked for a smooth experience.

Inside, there’s loads of space, and the bar is not so far from the lift entrance. With wide paths between tables and easy access to accessible bathrooms, with handrails at the back of the first floor, you can order right from your table, and the friendly staff are always around to help, making sure you have a relaxed, enjoyable time at Penny’s!

Pennys Hotel

Sun Hot Bakery Café is a local spot located within the Kings Cross Centre. The shopping mall is easily accessible, with entrances on both sides and a ramp linking Darlinghurst Road to Bayswater Avenue. The café is situated on the fully accessible ground floor and features a low counter, making it simple to order their affordable and delicious Vietnamese dishes or grab a quick coffee while waiting for someone finishing their shopping.
 

There’s a small table near the counter if you’d like to sit and enjoy your meal. While the space around it can accommodate a wheelchair for a short time, the area can get a bit busy with foot traffic, though it’s still manageable.

For added convenience, public restrooms are located directly across from the café within the complex. If you need assistance or directions, the friendly and experienced owner is always happy to help and share local tips.

Sun Hot Bakery

Healthy Nuts, on the ground floor of the Kings Cross complex under the famous Coca-Cola sign, is a spacious and welcoming shop that’s perfect for grabbing a healthy snack or drink. The shop is easy to access from the street, with a flat, wide entrance that makes it simple for wheelchairs or mobility aids to get inside. Once you’re in, there are cozy couches that add a relaxed vibe, and they can be moved around if needed to make more space.

The counter where you order isn’t too high, so it’s easy to see everything they offer and place your order. If you need a hand, the staff are super friendly and happy to help. While the shop has two floors, the lower level can only be reached by stairs, so it might not work for everyone.

There aren’t any toilets inside the shop, but don’t worry—the Kings Cross complex has public restrooms that are wheelchair-friendly. Just head into the complex, follow the ramps to the end, and you’ll find the restrooms on the left side.

It’s a chill spot to enjoy some healthy treats, with staff who go the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable!

Health Nuts

Whether you're a ramen enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Bones Ramen offers a delightful dining experience in the heart of Kings Cross.

The restaurant is located on the hill of Bayswater Road and is mostly accessible from the footpath. The entry features a flat surface that transitions into a slight step on one side of the door threshold, which is manageable to navigate with a bit of assistance if needed. Otherwise you can always have some food in their outdoors area. The outdoors tables are quite small and the available spots are on the hill. However, if you can manage a slight steep hill, you can always enjoy their food.

While the dimensions of the entry are not large, they are sufficient for entry. Once inside, the space is somewhat limited, but there is often the possibility of finding a table for you and your guests upon entry.
 

Please note that they do not have accessible toilets, but you can attempt to enter them since the path from the main dining area is relatively easy.

There is 1 parallel parking space in 31 Roslyn Street, Eastside between Ward Avenue and Roslyn Gardens 3.2m wide by 7.3m long.

There is a private garage at 33 Bayswater Road with an accessible entrance.

Bones Ramen

Sonora in Potts Point offers a welcoming and lively Mexican dining experience, where friendly service complements an innovative menu. Sonora features curated tasting menus, including a chef’s “Feed Me” option on Wednesdays and a decadent brunch with tacos and margaritas on the weekends.

Sonora is fully accessible, accommodating both wide and smaller devices. The main entry is at the corner of the street, accessible through their ample door threshold. Despite being a small, charming venue, the tables are spaced apart, providing enough room both inside and outside, in the terrace. The friendly staff will be happy to guide you to an appropriate space in the dining area.

Toilets are located on the right-hand side of the venue, and you won't get lost on the way to the restrooms. There are two restrooms, both equipped with handrails and enough space to maneuver a device.

Sonora Potts Point

Porcine is an inaccessible venue with step-front entry to wide manual door.  Portable ramp unconfirmed.

The Glider is right on Victoria Street in Potts Point, just a hop away from Kings Cross Station, making it super easy to get to with the adapted roads. The café has a lovely outdoor area that's perfect for chilling out. You’ll find a few tables right on the main street, so you can sit there without worrying about blocking anyone’s path. The outdoor space has a faux garden floor and a driveway kerb ramp that makes it easy to access the cosy little terrace.

Inside, there’s a noticeable step up to the main café area, so you might have trouble getting in with a mobility device. But don’t sweat it! You can always ask for table service on the terrace, and the friendly staff will be more than happy to help you out.

They don’t have toilets at the café, but no worries, Kings Cross Station is just a few meters away, and it has fully accessible restrooms that are easy to navigate.

Glider Cafe

Bloom Potts Point is a unique restaurant that blends a natural ambiance with exquisite cuisine, offering every guest a delightful and refreshing dining experience. 

With an inviting outdoor dining area, guests can enjoy fresh air and scenic surroundings. While the main entrance has steps, there is a ramped entrance on the right side, providing easy access for wheelchair users. Inside, the spacious layout and accessible restroom ensure comfort and convenience for all, though parking nearby is limited and lacks designated accessible parking spaces.
