There is a large uncovered car park located on Barrine Drive, Canberra with plenty of regular spaces.

The Captain Cook Memorial Globe is an accessible Terrestrial Globe around 3 metres in diameter & shows the three routes of Cook's voyages, which are described on the surrounding handrail. Meridians of longitude & parallels of latitude form this open-cage globe, with landmasses depicted in beaten bas-relief copper.  There are paved level pathways around the Memorial & along the waters edge with a large grassed area behind.  

The Captain Cook Memorial Jet is also located here in the Central Basin of Lake Burley Griffin, directly in front of the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point.    The Jet sends water to a maximum height of 152 metres, pumping it from,& returning it to, the lake. The exit velocity of water leaving the nozzle is 260 kilometres an hour.  Jet operates daily from 11am to 2pm. It is often turned on or coloured for special occasions & the best location from which to take photographs is the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point.

Captain Cook Memorial Globe

Commonwealth Park is a large landscaped accessible park which runs from the city centre to the edge of Lake Burley Griffin. The park is the perfect place to stroll, roll, run, ride, play & picnic with its wide open grassed areas & intimate sculptured gardens, ponds & artworks.

The park includes a large outdoor stage called Stage 88, a permanent stage, which hosts several sporting, cultural & musical events throughout the year, an amphitheatre & a playground called Castle Playground.  All these are accessed via paved lead-in pathways. 

It's also home to the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point & each year is the venue for the nationally acclaimed festival of flowers, Floriade.

Accessible toilets can be found onsite at Commonwealth Park Multi-use at Regatta Place, Regatte Point Building on Barrine Drive.  Accessible parking can be found on Constitution Avenue & Allara Street.

The venue offers step free entry via level paved pathway approach. Inside is spacious with lots of room to move around & the staff can help with any holiday questions, things to see & do, maps & information on all of Canberra’s attractions.  Plus you can book Canberra accommodation & buy tickets to exhibitions, tours & attractions. 

There is free Wi-Fi & a well-stocked shop of souvenirs, travel essentials & displays highlighting must see & must do experiences.

Accessible toilets can be found in the Regatta Point. Limited free parking available, along with designated free parking for caravans, camper trailers, coaches & RVs.

Canberra and Region Visitors Centre

Floriade is Australia's biggest celebration of Spring,  each year on the grounds of Canberra's beautiful Commonwealth Park.

Each year there's a theme, 'Art Of Bloom"  will be the theme for 2024. The park is alive with music, displays , market stalls, workshops all while taking in the wonder of nature and its colours.

Entry is Free  during the day but tickets need to be purchased for NightFest where you can enjoy it at night. 

Most of the park is wheelchair friendly with paved and flat terrain . Accessible bathrooms available at Commonwealth Park, Regatta Point Building and Parkes Way,  if a hoist or more privacy is needed they have Changing Places Pod with more room and privacy. The Pod and Key is located near the building next to FIRST AID .

Parking available near by at Commonwealth Park &  1 Regatta Pl Parking. Front Gate drop off zone available for mobility impaired or aged visitors.

Sensory hour is held during the week days from 9.30am to 10.30am (unless public holiday) where there's limited amplified sounds or performances to created a relaxed inclusive sensory experience.

Floriade (Grounds) 

Captain Cook Memorial Jet is located in Lake Burley  Griffin, the Jet shoots water 114 metres in the air, the water is drawn from the lake through a 50 metre intake tunnel. The Jet is often coloured to commemorate a special occasions. When this is done ,the best location for photos is The National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point.

The Jet is opened everyday from 11am to 2pm.

On the shore you can admire The Terrestrial Bronze Globe highlighting Captain Cooks, many voyages . 

Paid parking available in plenty of areas Regatta Point has accessible spots.

Accessible bathrooms are available one being at Acton Park about 9 min roll.

You can learn more about what was here before the city, how the site & the design were chosen, what it might have looked like and what may happen in the future.

The Walter Cafe offers step free access via paved level pathway approach.  Inside are freestanding tables, chairs & large covered balcony with more seating & views over Canberra's iconic Lake Burley Griffin.

National Capital Exhibition

Močan & Green Grout is an accessible venue originally designed to be a bike shop/cafe hybrid located on a sunny corner in the city’s New Acton precinct.  The ethical & eco-friendly café serve fair trade coffee, source produce from local farmers, & grow their herbs in a planter at the front door.

There is step free entry to the venue with plenty of outdoor moveable seating & tables with vines, pot plants & overflowing gardens of herbs & flowers that wrap around the cafe's facade.  There is more seating inside but without as much space to move around. 

Accessible toilets can be found on Barrine Drive, Commonwealth Park Multi-use on Regatta Place, Canberra Centre & Regatta Point Building.  Accessible parking can be found on Law Street, 2 Barrine Drive & 41 Marcus Clarke Street.

Močan & Green Grout

Bicicletta is an accessible Italian restaurant serving homemade pizza, pasta & gelato with a separate Library Bar & garden courtyard located in the New Acton Precinct.

The venue offers step free entry via paved level pathway approach into spacious interior with freestanding tables, chairs, banquette seating along the wall, bar stools, access to the bar & courtyard garden area.

Accessible bathroom can be found 200m away at Barine Drive & accesible parking in the New Acton Precinct.

Bicicletta Restaurant

Monster Kitchen & Bar is an accessible plant based restaurant & bar with step free access from Ovolo Nishi Hotel lobby.  There is a back entrance with a striking recycled-timber staircase with further timber features throughout the venue.  There is a wheelchair accessible lift to the first floor along with a wheelchair accessible bathroom onsite.

There is an eclectic range of furniture,  seating is an assembly of fixed Australian boomerang lounges, moveable wireframe chairs & stools, Kafka side tables, large & small marble dining tables.  Monster Kitchen & Bar just ask for you to mention if you are a wheelchair booking so they can remove furniture before you arrive.

There are various nooks around the venue, a faux fire, window seat with big cushions, concrete columns & dividers, even a concrete bar at the servery. The floor is a monolithic polished shattered terrazzo with hidalgoite green oxide seams, nice & smooth & level for easy rolling.

Palace Electric is inside the beautiful award-winning NewActon Nishi complex.  Where you can catch international films, with state of the art sound equipment , comfortable luxurious chairs with plenty of choices across 8 incredible cinemas. Rebel Rebel, named after the David Bowie song is an accessible venue with step free access.  There are unfixed tables, chairs in the dining area & stools at the bar area.  There are also fixed banquette seating with chairs the other side, communal long tables with unfixed seating & stools at the higher tables. 

There is space between tables accessed via polished concrete floors, big windows & the crowning feature being a sloping wooden rafter-like installation that occupies the five-metre roof cavity.

Along with being a restaurant Rebel Rebel also has an on-site takeaway wine shop with old & new-world wines offering takeaway coffee & pastry.  Here there is also fixed outdoor benches & tables accessed via paved pathway approach.  

There is an accessible toilet onsite along with more found at Barrine Drive, Commonwealth Park Multi-use on Regatta Place & the Canberra Centre on Bunda Street.

The Museum Cafe is an accessible cafe located inside the National Museum of Australia.

There is step free entry via a ramp into open foyer to large open glass doors.  Inside the venue is spacious with easy access to the counter lots of freestanding tables & chairs, long communal tables & fixed banquette seating.  There is a large outdoor area with plenty of seating & sweeping lake views.

The Museum Cafe

Brew & Brew is an accessible coffee shop loated on Constitution Avenue, Canberra.  The venue offers step free access to wide entry door.

Inside the venue there are tables & chairs, fixed banquette seating, sofas, high tables with stools along with outdoor seating.  The cafe offers a full food menu and lunch buffet, in addition to the range of cakes, slices and treats from their partnership with local makers like HomeSlice Co. and La Sable.

National Museum of Australia is an accessible venue located on the shores of Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin. The Museum's stunning architecture provides an extraordinary place to explore the rich & diverse stories of Australia & its people. The stories are brought to to life through compelling objects, ideas & events where you can take a guided tour or go solo through the many exhibitions.

With step free entry into the spacious Museum, lifts are available for accessing each of the Museum’s three levels – Ground, Lower Ground & Level 1 (sometimes called the Mezzanine). The Museum shop is located just inside the main Museum entrance stocking homewares, glassware, jewellery, First Nations products, toys, books, bath & body products, candles, gifts & more.

The Museum Cafe combines stunning architecture & spectacular views over Lake Burley Griffin.  Broadbean Catering is the Museum’s exclusive caterer sourcing local produce, with menus designed to match the season. There is seating inside on the deck or on comfortable lounge chairs with room to move around & easy access to the counter.

Accessible parking spaces for visitors with mobility impairment & the required permit are available free of charge, about 40 metres from our main entrance. The route is not protected from the weather.  Coach bays 5 & 9 are suitable for coaches fitted with mobility access lifts, hoists or ramps.

The Museum has a Changing Places accessible public toilet with adult change table & hoist, on the Lower Ground floor.  Unisex accessible toilets, baby change tables & an ambulant toilet are available on the Ground floor, off our Gandel Atrium.

Trained, registered & visibly identified assistance animals are welcome when accompanied by their handler.

Many of the Museum exhibitions & events are free, but costs apply for some. Companion cards & most major concession cards are accepted.

National Museum of Australia

Arc is an accessible cafe by Canberra coffee roaster Redbrick with flat lead-in pathway to entry.  There is step free access to revolving door into the office foyer and round the curtain is the cafe.

A huge central rosy terrazzo bar overlooks the sleek dining room, which is decked out with a mix of fixed curvaceous lounges, banquette seating, communal benches, round tables. unfixed chairs and stools.

The menu offers breakfast, lunch with wines, a standout sweet cabinet and of course coffee with the full spectrum of espresso, batch brew and iced options available. 

There is plenty of accessible parking on Constitution Avenue, 7 Akuna Street and Allara Street.  Accessible toilets are just under 500m away at the Canberra Centre on Bunda St.

Access is via a permanent paved ramp to the double front glass swinging doors which open outwards to the restaurant with a small lip to overcome. Reception to the restaurant is right at the front door.
Seating is both indoors and outdoors (under umbrellas if needed).  Inside the restaurant, tables are spaced well apart with what looks like good access for wheelchairs.
Toilets which are shared with other facilities, are accessed back out the front doors and down the side of the restaurant along a wide flat laneway with dedicated accessible toilets - appeared clean and well maintained.

The Meat & Wine Co Canberra

The Arc Cinema is  an awesome arc deco cinema, with state of the art equipment , where  nostalgic films from 70s, 80s, and  90s all the way through to today. It's located in the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia building. 

All the areas at the NFSA building are wheelchair accessible. The ramps to access  the entry to the building is on the south-facing entrance on Liversidge Street with two Automatic doors .  

Disabled Parking  can be found around the building, Be aware there are limited free parking spots surrounding the building on Liversidge Street.

There are T switch loops available in Arc Cinema for hire.

Wheelchair accessible & ambulant bathrooms are located in the main building for easy access.

They do have wheelchairs for hire at NFSA reception or pre book  by calling them on (02) 6248 2000 during business hours.

Tickets are Adults $14 and Concessions $12. The NFSA only charges concession for people with disabilities and Carers get a complimentary ticket.

Arc Cinema

Constitution Place has 560 basement parking bays, 225 of which are for public access. The car park offers permit holders, hotel guests &casual visitors.

To enter the Constitution Place car park turn onto Theatre Lane from Constitution Avenue.  Turn right into the car park, & drive down the ramp.  Your licence plate will be read when you stop at the boom gate & pay at the boom gate when you exit.

There are three lifts from the car park: one exits to Lyric Lane, one exits to the 1 Constitution Avenue lobby & one exits to the A by Adina Hotel.

City Hill is a 5 hectare landscaped hill located in the centre of Canberra, surrounded by Vernon Circle. It is central to the original design of Canberra and features formal tree plantings from the 1920s.

In a symbolic representation as the heart of the national capital, 6 major avenues radiate from City Hill.

Paved level pathways run throughout the park.  At the center of the park is a flagpole flying the ACT flag since 1989. The highest point of City Hill offers views overlooking Lake Burley Griffin. The park is a popular spot for locals to relax, have a picnic, or read a book. It provides shade, grass, and seating for visitors. Dogs are welcome on-leash.

City Hill

Mu is an accessible Japanese restaurant, where diners are served a seasonal degustation of precise Japanese dishes in an intimate, counter-style setting.  Literally meaning “I leave it up to you”, omakase is a pillar of Japanese dining culture, placing heavy emphasis on technique and market-best seafood.

The restaurant offers step free entry & is accessed via the Cicada Bar.  The low-lit space revolves around the central wooden bar, big enough to seat a dozen guests counter-style setting with unfixed stools. Behind it, chefs prepare and serve around 10 courses hinging on seasonal produce.  There are also freestanding tables with unfixed chairs & banquette seating.

The National Film & Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is Australia's national audiovisual cultural institution, collecting, preserving & sharing Australia's audiovisual culture. 

The venue features step free entry to automatic glass doors via paved pathway approach.  Wheelchair access to the building is available from the south-facing entrance on Liversidge Street.  All areas within the NFSA are wheelchair accessible & a weelchair is available from NFSA reception.  To book the wheelchair in advance, call (02) 6248 2000 during business hours. 

Accessible toilets can be found in the main building.  A disabled spot is located right outside the step entrance.  Dedicated visitor parking is available on the NFSA premises between McCoy Circuit & Ellery Crescent (paid parking, up to three hours).  There is also limited free parking surrounding the building on Liversidge Street.

National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA)

Cicada Bar is an accessible venue located on Constitution Avenue in Canberra.  Serving a premium selection of Japanese-inspired cocktails, sake, wine and beers and light bar food served in a moody interior lined with old Japanese movie posters that nod to the Canberra Theatre nearby.

Cicado Bar features sections on different levels, some able to be curtained off and hidden away and some only accessed via steps.  There is a range of freestanding tables, unfixed chairs and fixed banquette seating.

The restaurant Mu is connected with access via the bar and features intimate Omakase-style dining served in a counter-style setting.

Roy Jr is an spacious accessible venue located at the bottom of 7 London Circuit.

Roy Jr features step free entry via paved pathway approach to sun-drenched deck at the entrance offering a spacious place for dining al fresco with long communal tables with chairs, freestanding tables, chairs & accessible coffee takeaway hatch.  

Inside is marble tile flooring, leather banquettes & restaurant with seating for 150.  Behind the restaurant is the co-working space, with elegant lounge chairs, large communal round tables, charging ports, sofas & benches all arranged like a business lounge setting.  There is a ,student' lounge seating for more than 50, with space for long-stayers who want to settle in for the day.  There is also a six storey atrium providing sunshine for reading the newspapers.

There is an extensive menu offering a range of breakfast, brunch & lunch options seven days a week along with a luxe smoothie menu.  For a quick, easy option there's the counter of Three Mills pastries, pre-made sandwiches & salad bowls.  Roy Jr is also fully licensed with a bar featuring n assortment of wine, beer and breakfast cocktails.

The Canberra Centenary Column is an accessible sculpture in City Hill, Canberra. It was built to commemorate the city's centenary, & unveiled on 11 March 2014. The sculpture is an 8.5-metre stainless steel obelisk on a 5-metre-wide granite-dressed concrete base accessed by level paved pathway approach.

The Canberra Centenary Column is surrounded by grassed area with a paved pathway running through.

Such and Such is an accessible restaurant & wine bar with step free access via double doors.  There is a mixture of fixed & moveable seating & tables.  There is space to move around the venue however it would be limited when busy. 

The menu is share-friendly suiting any occassion from post-work drinks & snacks to a full dinner.  The drinks list is predominantly wine, with a mix of Australian & international along with a selection of non-alc drinks, including a house shandy made with peach, lime, Earl Grey tea & Heaps Normal XPA.

Kan Sushi & Poke is an accessible contemporary Japanese restaurant located on the ground floor of a building on London Circuit in the Canberra CBD.

The venue offers step free entry via paved level pathway approach to glass entry doors.  Inside is spacious, the dining area features paper lanterns,  Western & Japanese style seating including tables, chairs, banquette seating, stool & easy access to the counter.  There is also a large open dining area.

Wilsons car park at 33 Allara Street Car Park is an  undercover car park is located near Glebe Park, Casino Canberra, the Auditor General's Office & many other Canberra businesses & entertainment venues. 

Offering casual Hourly, Weekend & Early Bird parking with accessible parking spots & lift access.  

Canberra Theatre Centre also known as the Canberra Theatre is the Australian Capital Territory’s central performing arts venue.  

The theatre offers step free entry via paved level pathway approach to automatic glass doors.  There are steps as the front of the venue however there is a ramp to the left. There is lift access to the first balcony in The Playhouse, but no lift access to the second balcony.

Mobility assistance is available, if you require access seating at the end of a row, if you need to avoid stairs, or if you would like to make use of the few available wheelchairs in the venue.  Just contact the Canberra Ticketing Box Office team by phone, 02 6275 2700, in person or complete the special seating request form on their website.  The theatre need to have seats removed to satisfactorily accommodate wheelchair bookings. In order to maximise access for patrons with disabilities and their accompanying guests they request patrons who book in this area collect their tickets on the day of the performance.  Staff will give priority to people with disabilities who come to the box office for ticket collection.  There are a few wheelchairs available to use at the theatre.

The Link is an accessible bar located in the foyer of the Canberra Theatre for pre & post-show & interval entertaining.

The theatre offers Relaxed Performance which has been adapted to make it more accessible for a range of audience members.  This may include people with autism, sensory sensitivities, communication conditions, Tourette’s syndrome, learning disabilities, as well as people living with anxiety.  They also offer Captioning for patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Disabled parking can be found in the Theatre Lane car park behind the Canberra Museum & Gallery & in the ACT Government Surface Car Park at Constitution Avenue.

Canberra Theatre Centre

National Library of Australia is an accessible library with step free access via the Library foyer, Main Reading Room & exhibition galleries through automatic doors.

All other areas on the Ground Floor, including the Bookshop & Bookplate café, are accessible through open doorways.  You can access the building by the ramp on the south side of the building.  There are 15 stone steps leading to the front entrance. The steps have handrails that are lit at night.

Inside there are lifts with control panels at convenient height for people using wheelchairs.  Wheelchairs are available from the Foyer Information Desk on the Ground Floor.  All reading rooms have wheelchair-accessible desks.  There is a wheelchair-accessible photocopier in the Main Reading Room.  Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available on the Ground Floor and Lower Ground Floor.

There are 8 accessible car spaces are available in the carpark off Parkes Place, on the south side of the building. Signage and road markers show these areas.

Located on Allara Street in Canberra CBD, Playing Fields Cafe is an accessible venue offering step free entry.  There are a couple of steps leading to the venue from the pavement, however disabled access is available.

The cafe serves a range of brunch & cafe-style dishes, offering non-fixed seating, tables, high benches & stools inside along with an accessible counter.  There are further covered outside non-fixed tables & chairs.

Accessible parking can be found at the National Convention Centre, 7 Akuna Street & Constitution Avenue.   Accessible toilets can be found at Glebe Park on Akuna Street, Canberra Centre Bunda Street & Commonwealth Park Multi-use.  

Playing Fields Cafe

Bookplate is an accessible cafe located in the National Library of Australia offering a warm & inviting indoor dining space as well as an outdoor terrace with magnificent panoramic views of Lake Burley Griffin.

There are freestanding tables & chairs both inside & outside.  The restaurant offers an array of breakfast options, a large range of housemade cakes & petit slices, coffee, fresh-pressed juices, healthy smoothies, classic & craft beers, local wines, lunch & brunch options.

Accessible toilets can be found onsite with further ones at the Treasury Building & Old Parliament House Rose Gardens.  

Accessible parking can be found at Car Park 32 & 33 on Parkes Place & Questacon.

BEDST is a coffee shop & online store located at 20 Allara Street, Canberra which specialises in Nordic coffee roasts from Denmark, Norway, Sweden & Finland.

BEDST features step free entrance via paved pathway approach.  The venue is small but there is room to move around with limited seating.

Accessible toilets can be closeby at the the Canberra Centre on Bunda Street along with accessible parking.  More accessible parking can be found at National Convention Centre, Akuna St & Constitution Ave.

Banana Leaf is an accessible relaxed place serving Sri Lankan dishes and basic bistro food located on Akuna Street, Canberra.

The venue offers step free entry via paved level pathway approach to glass entry doors.  Inside is relaxed & spacious with large floor to ceiling windows, freestanding tables, chairs, banquette seating, access to the bar counter & covered outdoor seating.  There is a wall dedicated to colourful Sri Lankan face mask artwork.

The menu offers a multi-cultural blend of Sri Lankan heritage including Sinhalese, Tamil, Moor, Dutch & Malay tastes & textures with a combo of iconic dishes with a modern twist. 

Accessible toilets parking can be found closeby on Akuna Street.  Further parking can be found at the Canberra Centre along wth accessible bathrooms.

The Cupping Room is situated on University Avenue in Canberra & does have a step on entry.  However, if able to navigate the step inside there are non fixed seating options to tables & shared benches.  There are plenty of outdoor tables, chairs & benches which can also be moved. 

The Cupping Room is a concept cafe that takes its customers on a flavour journey across a range of coffee blends & delicious meals from the all-day menu that changes regularly.

Accessible toilets can be found at Canberra Centre on Bunda Street, accessible parking at Knowles Place & Hobart Place.
