Planet fitness Oak flats is located next to Oak Flats railway station. You can only access it coming off New Lake entrance Road via the roundabout. The path to enter the gym is mostly flat with a slight incline coming off the car park.

There are three disability parking spaces; two located to the right of the gym in front of Warrigal where you will turn left to enter the gym, and one located to the left of the gym. You will see the parking lot when you first enter the car park as you turn left and head straight down to the gym. The car park is flat, and is divided up in three sections of available parking. ⅓ of the parking is Warrigal parking, ⅓ is little people’s childcare parking and the remaining ⅓ is unmarked parking, suitable for planet fitness customers. Throughout the busy times (6am, 3pm-6pm), it can be difficult to find parking. During 9am-1pm the gym is usually quieter.

There are automatic doors which are wide enough for anyone to enter, no matter what accessibility you have. There is a front desk where you scan in and will be greeted by staff. The desk is a little high, but if you find it difficult to talk to staff, if you follow the desk around there is a gap.

There is an accessible toilet to the right of the desk, towards the far side of the gym, in between the male and female toilets, next to the water station. The toilet/bathroom has turning space, flat ground, includes rails and the basin is low enough for people to use. The shower has a bench and a hand-held shower head. There is also an ambivalent toilet available in both the male and female toilets.

There are two memberships; black spa and classic weekly. The black spa membership is $10.95 a week, which allows you to use the black spa features, however the only accessibility options are the massage chairs, hydro bed and wellbeing pod, if you have help to help assist you into the facilities, if help is not available you can ask if one of the staff members are available to help. With the black spa membership you can also bring a guest for free. The classic membership is $7 a week, which allows you to only use the gym and do classes, but you are still able to bring someone with you if you need help. Planet fitness also allows assistant animals at the gym.

There are multiple classes available, however, the most accessible is upper body and strength classes. There is also a program design class available, this is where you work with a trainer and they design a workout program for you, in which the trainers will be able to modify exercises for all your needs.

The gym has a wide range of equipment and machines available. There is quite a bit of space available between machines, with wide space in between the isles. The gym is flat, with no stairs throughout. If you are able to transfer yourself or with help into the smith machine, then you can use most of the machine’s. There is a mixture of smith machines for upper and lower body. There are also free weights available, ropes, barbells. If you get stuck on what machines or exercises you can do, there are trainers and managers available to give you tips. There are no clear signs on what is accessible and what isn’t but if you have any questions, staff are able to help.

Staff can help members with getting equipment safely, and safe transfers if needed.

Upon entry to the left, there are two tables available, as well as two couches in the black spa room.

Lockers

There are small lockers available next to the female toilets, as well as bigger lockers in the male and female toilets. There are lockers available towards the bottom, and they have a handle that you turn to the right to lock. If you want to bring a lock to secure your items you can, as the lockers don't have a proper lock.

Lighting and noise

The gym is brightly lit and music can be loud; staff may be able to lower volume on request. Music is managed via CrowdDJ.

There is a small parking lot with two designated accessible spaces, though the surface of the car park and entrance area is rough and on a slight incline. The entry door is a little heavy and hard to push open but is often left open on good weather days. Inside, the waiting area is spacious, but most tables are high with stools, or seating is in cramped sections. Restrooms are available; the male restroom is narrow and not accessible, while the female restroom is accessible and equipped with handrails.

There is one accessible parking space and a bus stop at the top of the street. The entrance features automated wide doors, and some tables have enough space to accommodate a wheelchair. One pathway inside is narrow. The toilet is spacious and clean, located in an accessible spot with an easy push-to-open door.

Bliss Ice Cream and Gelato, there is parking available in a lot about 100 metres away. The indoor bench seating area is a little cramped with limited manoeuvring space, while the outdoor area is spacious with plenty of seating nearby. A public toilet is located just across the walkway.

Rehals Divine Indian Restaurant, there is no designated accessible parking nearby, street parking is available directly outside, and there is a parking lot located about 100 metres behind the restaurant. The entrance door is push to open and somewhat heavy. Inside, seating is limited, with not much space to manoeuvre except near the booths located at the front, back and right hand side coming into the restaurant. No toilet facilities are available in the restaurant.

Hungry Jack’s Shellharbour, there is one accessible parking spot located directly next to the entrance, the parking space and surrounding floor is smooth and flat . The entrance door is a somewhat heavy pull open door. Inside, the area is spacious with plenty of seating options, and there is also a large outdoor seating area. There is one accessible toilet is available inside the restaurant.

Casa Nova, Shellharbour Square, The restaurant is situated on a flat area next to a slight hill incline. The ordering/bar area is raised, with only about one person’s width for access. No restroom is available inside the restaurant; the nearest restroom is approximately 200 metres away, next to the elevator.

Kebab House Warilla, accessible parking is available at the back of the store. The surrounding area is flat with a two-person wide pathway for entry. No restroom is available inside.

McDonald’s Warilla, there is one accessible parking space available. The front entrance is accessed via a long, narrow ramp with a handrail, while the back entrance has a shorter ramp but no accessible parking nearby. There is a small outdoor seating area, and the indoor seating area is spacious with plenty of room to move between tables. No accessible toilet is available inside.

Cafe Els, located within the Warilla Shopping Complex, there is parking available in the lot outside the café.  Lots of seatin available, with space to move around. Toilet facilities are available within the shopping complex.

Zeus Street Greek Shellharbour, there is accessible parking available in the nearby parking lot, it is right next to the elevator and escalator in the upstairs food court. There is plenty of seating out the front of the store, offering a variety of options, though manoeuvring space is somewhat limited. A toilet is available nearby, located outside the store down a hallway.

There are four designated mobility parking spots available in the area, two located near the main street shops and two positioned closer to the adjacent church. The surrounding area is flat and easy to traverse, with ramp access from the carpark up to the sidewalk, providing smooth transition for wheelchair users and those with mobility aids. The nearest public restroom is located 100 metres to the south, down Fisher Street.

Off-street accessible parking

Woolworths and adjacent stores parking area, the area is flat with ramps providing access to the pathways. The nearest restrooms are located in Red Rooster or the Ampol petrol station.

Parking for the cinema and surrounding stores is in a large carpark on a steep incline, with the cinema located uphill and restaurants and offices downhill. Restrooms are available inside the cinema.

Parking is spread out in front of each store entrance, all of which provide accessible entry. The connecting footpath is smooth and flush with the road. The nearest public toilets are located at Hungry Jack’s or the Ampol petrol station.

Woolworths Shell Cove, there is parking available about 50 metres from the store entrance. Inside, the store floor is flat and smooth, with very spacious aisles that allow easy movement throughout. A toilet is available adjacent to the store!

On-street accessible parking

Chemist Warehouse Shellharbour, there are two accessible parking spaces located at the front of the store on a rough but flat surface. The entrance door is automatic and inside, the flooring is smooth with spacious aisles. The collection and payment area also has plenty of room to maneuver conveniently

Redall Reserve public toilets, there is accessible parking located adjacent to the buildings. There are two accessible toilets available, the rooms are quite narrow. The pathway between the taps is somewhat narrow, but there is plenty of space along the main pathways leading to and from the beach.
