The Australian Museum offers permanent galleries including the popular Dinosaurs exhibit, temporary and touring exhibitions; and has a collection of more than 18 million objects spanning culture and natural history. The AM also undertakes innovative scientific research through the Australian Museum Research Institute (AMRI). The Australian Museum is located on the corner of College Street and William Street in central Sydney, just across the road from Hyde Park and opposite St Mary's Cathedral. The Australian Museum provides access to all areas of the Museum for people in wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There are ramps throughout the exhibitions and two lifts to take you between all floors. All doors are automatic. The AM’s map with accessibility features is available for download to assist with your visit. The map covers some key features such as: high and low sensory areas/seats/tactiles/ low light areas and stairs.General Admission and major exhibition entry is free to those who hold a Companion Card and are assisting as a carer. Further discount will apply when presenting a Centrelink Healthcare Card or Pension Card. A wheelchair may be available for use during your visit. Please ask at the Admission Desk on arrival at the Museum. Wheelchair accessible toilets are located on all public gallery floors including Level G, 1 and 2. A wheelchair accessible toilet is also located on Level 4 by No. 1 William. There are two accessible areas to eat in the Museum. No. 1 William is located on Level 4 and is accessible by both lifts. The Garden café is located on William Street and has seating and a pop-up coffee cart. It is also a space for visitors who bring their own lunch. Enacon Parking on Cathedral Street has 11 accessible spots and is a 3 minute walk to the Australian Museum. This route has no steps.
