Cabo

The Canberra Carousel is located in Petrie Plaza in the Canberra Central Business District.  

This picturesque carousel delights children & adults alike with its air of olde-worlde charm.  The organ & the fifty two hand carved wooden horses & two elephants were specially imported from Germany. The twisted brass upright poles were made in Scotland.  The horses are four abreast in 14 rows,  two hand carved wooden elephant carriages, one elephant is white the other is grey.  Most of the horses & elephants have names; even Pharlap has his place on the platform.  Beginning life in Melbourne in 1914, the carousel was installed in Canberra in 1974.

The Carousel offers paved pathway approach with limited access to actually ride on the carousel depending on ability.  Unfortunately wheelchair access onto the carousel is not possible.

Tuckshop Tamada is a takeaway restaurant serving third generation affordable, authentic Thai Food.  Tucked away on Bible Lane in Civic (next door to Akiba and where Flash Eats burgers used to live).

The Tuckshop does have steps up to the counter, however the staff are friendly & am sure would come down to take an order.

So far, Tuckshop Tamada is only open for weekday lunches. But business hours may expand into dinner service depending on demand. The family also have a permit for outdoor seating which is something they will organise soon.

CMAG Cafe

Gus' Place is an accessible cafe located on Bunda Street in the heart of Canberra city offering step free access.  It opened in 1969 & later became the first outdoor pavement cafe in Canberra.  It is one of the oldest and best known cafes in Canberra and one of the first European-style cafes in Australia with both outdoor &  indoor dining areas.

The venue is famous for its outdoor dining area with loads of seating with non fixed tables & chairs so easily moveable & large glass windows.  There is also inside seating but less room with a busy bar in the centre of the cafe.

White Rabbit Cocktail Room is an accessible cocktail & tapas venue located on Northbourne Avenue, Canberra.

The venue offers step free entry via paved level pathway with ramp to large double doors.  Inside features polished floors & patterned wallpaper, velour couches frame all areas of the interior, with a lower area complete with an antique sideboard as a DJ table hosting DJ nights. Bar Rochford is an inaccessible wine & cocktail bar hidden away in the one of the capital’s oldest buildings, the iconic Melbourne Building.  Being a heritage listed building they are not permitted to install a lift.  However, the staff are more than willing to help anyone with mobility issues, if it's possible, up the stairs to the first floor.  They say they have done it before a number of times, just ask.

There is a mixture of fixed booths & moveable tables & chairs. High tables with stools are available along with the drinks bar.

The centerpiece at Bar Rochford is a huge arched window overlooking London Circuit.  In winter, there’s also a roaring fire to enjoy. The record collection mirrors the wine list: eclectic, funky & extensive.  Traditional classic bottles sit alongside alternate varietals, bolstered by handwritten specials on butcher’s paper that constantly change as bottles run out.
