Shoalwater Beach is a curving, west-facing, 1.5 km long low energy beach located between Mersey Point and a central sandy foreland. A shallow sands spit extends 1 km west from the tip of the foreland to Shag Rock and Seal Island. 

The low waves produce a relatively narrow steep beach, with seagrass meadows just off the shoreline, and the beach covered by seagrass debris following storms. The beach is backed by the 100-200 m wide Shoalwater Foreshore Reserve, with parking towards the southern end, then a road and houses of Shoalwater. 

There is a permanent ramp leading to seasonal beach matting. There are accessible public toilets, showers & drink fountains with lead up pathways. There is a cycle path, accessible bbqs & accessible playground. There is a car park available with 2 ACROD bays & 1 drop-off bay.

Shoalwater Beach

Phoebe Hymus Park is right on the Rockingham Foreshore and a great place to stop for a play. The playground is undercover with path access to grassed area. 

There is a ramp from the sealed pathway from Alexander Street car park leading to seasonal beach matting. Please note there is a steep section on the pathway. 

There is car parking available with one ACROD bay & accessible public toilets both accessed via pathway.

Phoebe Hymus Park

Bell Park is located at the Rockingham Beach Foreshore. It is lined with shaded trees and is the perfect spot for a family picnic or to take in the view of the tranquil blue waters of Rockingham Beach. 

There is a ramp & pathway from the Wanliss Street car park to the beach matting, through the park. A short ramp with handrail from the pathway leads to the beach matting. 

Car parking is available with two ACROD bays on the the western edge of Wanliss Street car park. The park includes fantastic playgrounds and free barbecues. The park is also popular for City-organised events. 

There are great cafes and restaurants nearby. Accessible toilets & shower can be found at Bell Park Wanliss Street side, along with further toilets nearby at Flinders Lane side.

Bell Park Reserve

The Rockingham Foreshore precinct overlooks Rockingham Beach, a safe and calm beach perfect for families. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, as well as the shady and expansive lawn areas of Churchill Park and Bell Park for picnics and barbecues.

 There are three main areas, Railway Terrace, a pedestrian friendly shopping and eat street Beach Plaza, a new civic heart for Rockingham with a range of recreational, cultural and heritage attractions; and The Boardwalk, featuring timber terraces and some ‘young- at-heart’ attractions connecting to the beach. There is an accessible ‘Lookout’ and ‘Beach Bowl’ have been created, giving all visitors the chance to take greater advantage of the foreshore’s north-facing beach and expansive parklands which can be transformed into a space for concerts and events. 

There is seasonal beach matting available in front of the Beach Bowl in line with Railway Terrace, accessed by using the ramp. The Mobi-Chair & Sandcruiser beach wheelchairs are available 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday from The Cruising Yacht Club on Val Street, 9527 5468. There is also the Mobi-Chair available 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday and 9am-4pm, weekends and public holidays from Rockingham Vistor Centre on Kent Street, 9592 3464. ACROD car parking bays on Rocking Bay Rd & Val St. Lead up pathways to accessible public toilets, showers & drink fountains.

Rockingham Beach Foreshore

Governor Road Reserve offers a concrete pathway with handrail from the carpark to the beach matting. 

There is a further pathway from the car park to war memorial. Car parking is available including 4 ACROD bays.

 Public toilets are avilable via the pathway with cold indoor showers & water tap on the post on the park side of the toilet building, not accessible to vehicles.  

Governor Rd Reserve

Palm Beach is an extensive sand beach bordered by green space, with boat excursions from several jetties. Its a safe calm, north-facing beach ideal for families. 

Beach access matting is available just to the west of the jetty, accessed by using the ramp. It's available between October through to April each year depending on weather conditions. Just call the City of Rockingham on 9528 0333 to confirm. The Mobi-Chair & Sandcruiser Beach Wheelchairs are available from The Cruising Yacht Club on Val Street 9527 5468 available 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. There is also the Mobi-Chair beach wheelchair available 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday and 9am-4pm, weekends and public holidays from Rockingham Visitor Centre, 19 Kent Street 9592 3464.

 The Palm Beach jetty has been designed to allow easy access for people in wheelchairs or with other mobility restrictions. 

Accessible toilet facilities are available at the jetty. Parking can be found closeby at the ferry & Val Street with 2 ACROD spaces & 4 ACROD at Rockingham Beach Road.
