The National Police Memorial is an accessible memorial located King's Park on the northern shore of Lake Burley Griffin adjacent to the National Carillon on Aspen Island.

The memorial pays tribute to Australian Police officers who have been killed on duty or have died as a result of their duties.  Subdued lighting adds atmosphere every evening from dusk where each of the 700+ touchstones are individually lit. The rear of the wall is lit with an image of St Michael, the Patron Saint of Policing.

There is paved level pathway access to & around the memorial. Accessible toilets & parking can be found 200m away at Boundless Playground on Parkes Way.  Further disabled parking spots can be found on Wendouree Drive.

There are a number of accessible cafe & restaurants nearby.

National Police Memorial Australia

The National Boer War Memorial can be found on Anzac Parade accessed via paved level pathway approach.

The memorial of  1.5 life size bronze horses and riders sculptures are dedicated to those Australians who volunteered and fought in the nation's first war.

The two large, copper clad walls emerge from the surrounding landscape to define the memorial space. The walls are aligned to the dominant parallel geometry of Anzac Parade to create a simple yet strong framing of the memorial.  

The different heights of the walls reflect their different functions; the higher back wall is a backdrop to the bronze sculptures, and the lower front wall frames the ceremonial forecourt while allowing interpretation to be read along its top. The faces of each wall will be a composite of several large, hand-forged copper sheets, joined with rivets and finished in a green copper patina.

National Boer War Memorial

Tokyo Canteen

The Whale Tea is an accessible bubble tea shop located on City Walk in Canberra.

The venue offers set free entry via paved pathway approach.  Inside is spacious with easy access to the counter.  There is limited seating inside with fixed communal high bench table & stool chairs.  This is more of a takeaway kind of place.  

Accessible parking can be found at 7 Akuna Street, the National Convention Centre, Constitution Avenue, Theatre Lane & the Canberra Centre (accessible toilets can also be found here).  Accessible toilets can be found under 1km away at Commonwealth Park Multi-use, parkes Way & Regatta Point Building.

Canberra’s famous Old Bus Depot Markets are accessible markets for lovers of fine hand crafted wares, clothing collectors, food fanatics, jewellery junkies & so much more.

The Melted Toasted Sandwich Emporium is an accessible sandwich shop located on Pitie Street in Fyshwick.

Penny University is an accessible artisanal cafe in Kingston, Canberra.  They source their coffee beans from local roasters, & serve specialist cakes all made on the premises. Locally sourced bread is freshly baked daily & you can enjoy all-day breakfast any day of the week.

Accessible parking can be found on Franklin Street & across the road at Coles.  Accessible toilets can be found onsite & at Telopea Park & Eyre Street - Road Verge & Barker Street.  There is no lift to the Upstairs Bar.

Queenies is an accessible restaurant & bar located on the corner of Kennedy & Giles Street, Kingston.

Queenies

Blundells Cottage is a semi accessible is a heritage-listed six-roomed stone cottage located on the northern shore of Lake Burley Griffin in the no man’s land between the lake and the edge of the city, surrounded by gardens, grasslands & a lot of rabbits!

The cottage was built by George P. Campbell in about 1858 for his ploughman William Ginn on the original Molonglo River floodplain.  The six-room stone cottage & slab shed have evolved through several extensions & today, the various rooms are set up to display furniture & items from the different periods each part of the cottage represents. The attention to detail in each room means despite the small spaces, you can take some time to look around & see how the previous residents of the cottage lived. You’ll see examples of how food was stored & prepared, what clothing was worn, furniture, children’s games & even an old chamber pot.

There are five accessible car park spaces in the car park on Wendouree Drive (via Constitution Avenue) & a wheelchair accessible path to the front of the cottage for a close view of the oldest sections of the cottage, gardens & orchard. The heritage cottage was constructed in 1860s & does not meet accessibility standards, however, there is a virtual tour of the inside of the cottage.

Please note that while there are accessible car spaces & viewing points, access to the cottage itself does not meet accessibility requirements because of the building’s heritage status.

There are walking & bike paths & picnic seating nearby, accessible toilets can be found 500m away at Parkes Way & Boundless Playground.  

Blundells Cottage

Axxe is an accessible Urban Axe throwing venue offering a unique experience of throwing solid steel axes at wooden targets & playing fun axe throwing games.  

Axxe offers step free entry via paved pathway approach to glass double doors & easy access to the counter.  There is also step free entry to the throwing lanes.  There are high tables & stool seating along with sofas & armchairs.

Drinks & snacks are available to purchase, the venue is not licenced so no alcohol is permitted on the premises.

The venue also offers Breakr which is a ‘break out’ room which is a dedicated space for breaking plates, mugs, glasses, vases & other fragile items.  These can either be thrown at the wall or smashed with tools provided.

Accessible parking spot can be found just further along the road from the venue.  Accessible toilets can be found 400m away at Maryborough Street bus station on Wollongong Street.

Axxe - Urban Axe Throwing

Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets are Canberra's oldest food market.  Accessible via paved level pathways to step free entry doors the markets are home to over 25 stores, including a range of fruit & vegetable shops, butchers, delicatessens, bakeries, cafes, seafood shops, a speciality Asian grocery, a boutique bottle shop & pet shop. Gates open Thursday to Sunday from 7am-5:30pm.

There are a number of cafes with outside seating & wide ailses inside the market to move around. 

There is a large car park onsite with accessible parking spots.  The main carpark is located off Mildura Street. This carpark is the only one with disabled parking spots. Additional parking can be found on Level 1.

Accessible toilets can be found 2km away at Manuka Terrace & Maryborough Street bus station.

Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets

Canberra Outlet Centre is an accessible outlet shopping centre located in the heart of Fyshwick on the corner of Newcastle Street and Canberra Avenue.  Offering a range of international & national brands with up to 70% off across all factory and Homemaker Centre retailers.

The centre features step free entry via paved level pathway approach to automatic glass doors.  The Centre has complimentary wheelchair hire. The service can be accessed from the security office located near the food court bathroom amenities. Lift access from the carpark is located near the Food Court and Premium Mall, with a travelator located at the Supergrocer entry. All the walkways are made to accommodate wheelchair access & mobility scooters. 

Canberra Outlet offers free underground carparking accessible from Iron Knob street & Newcastle street. The carpark is accessible daily from 7am until 6:30pm.  Lift access from the carpark is located near the accessible Food Court & Premium Mall, with a travelator located at the Supergrocer entry.

There are disabled toilets & parents room facilities located near the Food Court in the bathroom corridor next to the purple entry escalator as well as in the Homemaker Hub. Each parent’s room has changing facilities, breastfeeding rooms, microwave & a book nook.

Canberra Outlet

Manuka Oval is an accessible sporting venue in Griffith, the area of that suburb known as Manuka, Canberra.  Manuka Oval has a seating capacity of 13,550 people & an overall capacity of 16,000 people.

There is wheelchair accessible seating in the outer ground is on the Concourse level only with reserved seats & lift access to the Bradman Stand Concourse also available. When inside the venue, please see a customer service representative if you require further assistance. Call 1300 665 915 Ticketek’s Accessible Seating booking line if you require special access, wheelchair or companion card seating or submit an Accessible Seating booking form.  

There is a variety of food & drink options available from the bar & food outlets in public areas.

Manuka Oval

Peonee is an accessible Mod Oz restaurant located Provan Street in Campbell, featuring a five-course set menu for evenings & a two-course set menu for lunch, with the option of matching wines or non-alcoholic beverages. 

The small & contemporary eatery features step free entry via paved level pathway approach to glass doors. Inside are freestanding tables, chairs & communal tables.

There is an accessible parking spot on Provan Street just slightly further round the corner from the venue. Accessible toilets can be found 500m away at Parkes Way & under 1km away at Kings Park & 1km away at Boundless Playground & Campbell Neighbourhood Oval.

The cafe is bright & airy with floor to ceiling windows & lots of greenery hanging form the high ceilings.
