The Royal Australian Mint is an accessible venue offering a suite of programs which can be enjoyed by all visitors. These range from education programs for all ages, school holiday programs, family tours, public talks, special events, exhibitions & quiet mornings.

A ramp leads into the Mint’s main entrance. The doorway is automatic & there is a lift on the ground floor that can take you up to the Gallery and Factory Viewing Area.  

You can access all public areas by lift.  When you arrive, the foyer lift takes you up to the Gallery and Factory Viewing Area.

The Mint Cafe is onsite along with The Mint Coin shop with a large selection of coins available for purchase straight from the factory.

Accessible toilets are on the ground floor and the first level. Currently, these amenities do not have a push button entry or slide pads.  There are baby change tables available in the Accessible toilets. 

The entry to the free car park is on Denison Street. Accessible spaces are available for visitors with a mobility parking permit.

Royal Australian Mint

Stromlo Leisure Centre is Canberra’s newest health and leisure facility overlooking the Molonglo Valley, offering world class health and wellbeing facilities.

Offering you access to a fully equipped gym, exercise studios, a 50m Olympic swimming pool, program pool and splash park.

Opening hours Mon to Fri 5.30am to 9.30pm and Sat to Sun 7am to 7.30pm

Services also include a cafe,   accessible parking & entry/exit access ramps, pool hoist and inclusive programming.

Stromlo Leisure Centre

The National Zoo & Aquarium is privately owned and Australia's only combined Zoo and Aquarium.  Situated on around 25 hectares of land just five minutes from the centre of Canberra.

Most of the National Zoo is accessible by wheelchair. The site does include some steep inclines however if you follow the designated adventure trail these areas will be avoided.  There are several mobility scooters available for hire. Advanced bookings are encouraged as there are limited units available on any given day. There is a wide variety of both native & exotic animals, as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia. There are a number accessible picnic areas, complimentary BBQ facilities along with Jungle Vines Cafe, Rhino Bistro, Adentureland Playground, Gift Shop, & Animal Encounters where you get the opportunity to get up close & personal with some of the worlds most amazing creatures.

There are a number of disabled car parking spaces available for use. These are located at the main entrance and near the secondary keyhole entrance.  Parking is free for all zoo and Jamala visitors.

Accessible toilets can be found at the park along with baby change room.

A full viewing of the zoo is a decent walk….easy for some, not so easy for others…

If your mobility isn’t great or you have toddlers who would struggle with the distance, you can split up your visit. You can do one section one day and return any time in the next 2 weeks to see the other section. Parking is generally available near the start of both sections.

National Zoo & Aquarium

The Weston Park Peninsula Loop is a 4.2km loop trail in the popular Weston Park located on a peninsula on the western side of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra.

Generally considered an easy route, the wide flat pathway allows for easy rolling & takes an average of just under 60 minutes to complete.

The cycle track runs throughout the park & also features a large scale adventure playground including water play, picnic tables, benches, BBQs & accessible public toilets at the playground.

The Yarralumla Play Station offers a minature railway & train, mini golf & cafe.  There is also a off-leash dog park, wild kangeroos, the Yarralumla Gallery, Oaks Brasserie, Heritage Nursery & SievX Memorial.

There is plenty of regular & alloacated disabled spots at Weston Park.

Lil Milkbar is a small intimate space featuring step free entry via paved pathway.  Inside is cosy with limited tables, chairs & fixed banquette seating.  However, there are a number of outdoor tables & chairs.

Accessible toilets can be found just over 2km away at Chifley Place, Colbee Court & Westfield Woden. Accessible parking can be found closeby on Heard Street & Mawson Place.

Oh My Dough is an accessible venue offering baked goods such as pizza, old school classics, wraps, pasta, wings, hot desserts & more.

The venue in Phillip offers step free entry to double doors via paved pathway approach.   There is easy access to the counter with room to move around & freestanding tables with chairs.

Accessible toilets can be found just over 500m away at Launceston Street & under 1km away at Chifley Place. Accessible parking can be found closeby at Matilda Street, 2 Keltie Street & Westfield Woden (accessible toilets too).

Bloom Coffee is an accessible specialty coffee shop focusing on quality coffee with a community atmosphere.

The venue offers step free entry to a spacious & stunning interior featuring fixed blonde wood banquette bench seating with black seats opposite, high communal tables with stools & easy access to the counter.  There are also outside tables & benches available with lead-in paved pathways.

Accessible parking can be found closeby at Skypark Multi-storey on Worgan Street, Matilda Street & Keltie Street.  Accessible toilets can be found just over 250m away at Westfield Woden & 700m away at Launceston Street.

Naadam is an accessible Mongolian restaurant offering an authentic Mongolian dining experience of rich & unique food culture rooted in place & tradition.

The venue offers step free entry  to large glass doors via paved pathway approach.  Inside there are freestanding tables & chairs along with fixed banquette. 

There is an accessible enormous red yurt in Naadam’s courtyard, which stands alongside a vibrant mural of Mongolia. Called a ger, which translates to ‘home’, the yurt functions as both an homage to the owner Mugi’s home country & a space for private events.  The yurt is a traditional nomadic dwelling, a symbol of Mongolian culture & hospitality.  With seating up to 16 people the yurt provides an inimate setting adorned with authentic Mongolian patterns.

Parking can be found across the road in the large car park, accessible toilets next door at Ampol Foodary, Weston.

Farmers Daughter is an accessible cafe located in Yarralumla offering coffee, sweet & savoury treats in a relaxed environment.

The Piccolo Mondo is an accessible cafe located in Woden with step free access via paved pathway approach.

This small cafe offers easy access to the counter with no seating inside but there is limited seating outside.

Accessible parking can be found closeby 2 Keltie St & Westfield Woden, along with toilets.  Further accessible toilets can be found at BP Express on Melrose Drive. 

The Piccolo Mondo Cafe

Indian Affair is an accessible Indian restaurant serving traditional curries, tandoori dishes & banquets served in a vibrant dining room.

The venue is accessed via paved pathway to step free entry doorway.  Inside there are freestanding tables & chairs with easy access to the counter.  

Accessible toilets can be found under 50m away in Colbee Court or 1km away at Chifley Place.  Accessible parking can be found nearby further down Colbee Court.  

Indian Affair Restaurant

The Mustang is an accessible Nepalese restaurant & bar tucked away in a quite southern suburb of Canberra Farrar, serving traditional Himalayan style cooking & warm Nepalese hospitality.

The venue offers step free entry via glass doors via paved pathway approach.  There are steps at the front of the shopping precinct with side ramp entries either side.  

The restaurant is nicely decorated with various imported traditional Nepalese items such as musical instruments, paintings, hanging-lights, spice displays, wooden sculptures etc to provide you with a Nepalese Vibe. With the space for about 100 dinners, with freestanding tables, chairs, easy access to the counter & outside seating.

Accessible parking spots can be found right outside next to the side ramp.  Accessible toilets can be found inside the shopping precinct.  

The restaurant serves authentic Nepalese dishes & is fully licensed, BYOs are also welcome but wine only & there is corkage charge per bottle. The drinks menu includes varieties of regional & local wines, traditional yoghurt drink – “Lassi” as well as Nepalese beers all the way from Himalayas.

The Alby is an accessible venue located on the ground floor of The Albemarle Building off Furzer Street in Woden. 

The Alby consists of bars, chef's table for private dining, beer garen, games basement with bar & food, Duckpin bowling, pinball machines & pool tables.

The Alby features large open step free doorways accessed via paved level pathway approach through a large garden with freestanding tables, chairs, fixed banquette seating & high tables with stools.   Inside is spacious with easy access to the bar & a range of high tables, stools, freestanding tables & chairs.

Accessible bathrooms can be found on the basement floor accessed via the lift on the ground floor.   The bowling lanes are not wheelchair friendly.

The Alby

Wokitup is an accessible Asian noodle bar located on Botany Street, Phillip.

The venue offers step free entry via paved level pathway to glass door with easy access to the counter. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere offering authentic flavors of South-East Asia, with a focus on noodle boxes. The venue features easy access to the counter & accessible seating.

Wokitup! Phillip

The Coffee Club Cafe is a coffeehouse-style café chain located in the Westfield Woden Plaza, Phillip.  The plaza features paved pathway approach to step free automatic glass doors.

The cafe offers level pathway approach to large open entryway with freestanding tables, chairs, easy access to the counter & further seating in the centre walkway opposite the cafe.

Both accessible parking & toilets are located in Westfield Woden.

The Meating Room is an accessible cafe bar, grill serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner & drinks located on Liardet Street, Weston.

The venue offers step free entry via paved level pathway approach to large glass entry door.  Inside is bright & spacious with graffiti & stencil art adorned walls, wooden freestanding tables, chairs, booths, banquette seating, access to the bar, large covered outdoor area, sports screens & live music.  

There is a large carpark with disabled spots & accessible toilets at Ampol & Cooleman Court.
