One of the most spectacular public gardens in Sydney, Wendy’s Secret Garden has been continuously created like a giant living painting since 1992, by Wendy Whiteley, artist in her own right, and wife and muse of Australia's eminent artist, Brett Whiteley.



In October 2015, what began as a guerilla garden was safeguarded, when North Sydney Council was granted a 30+30 year lease of Wendy's Secret Garden by the NSW Government.
 


Wendy’s Secret Garden – which is no longer a secret! – is nestled in Lavender Bay, just a short walk from the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This is a haven where locals and visitors can explore the tiered gardens with flowering plants, as well as views to the Harbour Bridge. Explore pathways that reveal striking sculptures that range from fine works to rustic pieces. Enjoy a picnic or relax at one of the tables or benches.

Wendy's Garden is not wheelchair accessible. There are steep inclines and a range of steps. Visitors with limited mobility may only access the uppermost sections of the garden via Clark Park.
 


The garden has recently undergone improvements to make the space more welcoming and accessible. A series of ramps have been added within the garden to allow visitors to navigate the garden’s levels with greater ease and gain access to the garden’s lower areas.

Loulou Bistro, Boulangerie (bakery) & Traiteur (delicatessen) is an accessible French restaurant located in the neighbourhood setting of Lavender Bay, North Sydney.  

Loulous offers step free entry via glass double entry doors into spacious restaurant with plenty of seating options from sharing tables, smalled tables with banquette seating & high back chairs, seating booths, access to the bar with high stools & view of the chefs at work in the kitchen.   There is also a large covered casual outdoor seating area.

Bay Ten is an accessible hip, roomy warehouse-turned-cafe with large open doorway with paved level pathway approach.

Inside features wide open space with communal tables with stools, seating booths with high back chairs & wooden bench seating, Chesterfield sofas & armchairs.  There is easy access to the counter, red neon sign, greenery & second flootr accessed via stairs.

Accessible bathrooms can be found at Qubareee Park & Greenwood Plaza.  Regular metered parking can be found right outside, accessible parking 6 minutes roll/walk on Pacific Highway.

Billy Barry's is a semi accessible pub situated in Greenwood Plaza on Walker Street, North Sydney.

The venue is accessed via paved level pathway approach to large glass entry doors.  There is a wide staircase leading to the first floor bar, however there is lift access from Greenwood Plaza but this is only in operation during business hours so only till 5pm during the week. There is a second bar, TAB, eating area & accessible toilet located downstairs, however this is via 3 long steps that need to be navigated.

The venue features bar area with high tables with stools, low tables with chairs, chesterfield sofas & comfy booths. pool tables, game machines, access to the bar & serves pub grub.

Across the street from North Sydney train station on Blue Street. Exit from North Sydney train station via Blue Street using Easy Gate access. Street crossing is directly across from Blue 36 Cafe. Entrance has a ramp, however venue is small. One door open currently, which would not accommodate width of wheelchair, both doors would need to be open.  2 metres from entrance is counter to order. Floor is blocked by a large barrel in the middle obstructing access to service. Bathroom access would be via entry to Greenwood Plaza which is to the left if the Cafe.  Parking can also be found at the Plaza

Blue 36 Cafe

Blue 36 is an accessible cafe situated in Greenwood Plaza opposite North Sydney Train Station, Blue Street, North Sydney.

The North Spoon is an accessible cafe, restaurant & catering situated on Blues Point Road in the heart of Mahons Point.

The North Sppon is an accessible restaurant with two disabled access points into the main restaurant. Indoors there is room to get around but some tables might need to be moved to assist. Pub located on Blues Point Road. Main entryway is via a large set of stairs, however there is a side entrance that is flat (to access this requires travelling up a medium inclined hill).

The main pub area is all on one level and has disability toilets. There is also a downstairs area which is in the process of renovations which will include lift access.

There is customer parking, however it is difficult to utilise for those in wheelchairs, so staff advise to drop off outside the venue, or park on the road outside.

The Greenwood Plaza branch offers step free entry via level path approach to large open plan entry. There is easy access to the food counter, with both takeaway & eat-in options with freestanding seating in the food court.

Greenwood Plaza is a favourite for office workers in North Sydney Central Business District. 

Greenwood Plaza offers transit via bus and train using North Sydney station. 

The food court on Level 2 has several options for different cuisines. There are tables with between 2 and 4 seats. The seats are not fixed in place if you need to move them.

Lovely bar/restaurant. Very open plan seating, easy for a mobility impaired person to get around. Easy access to disabled toilets, with no stairs. Access to venue is via a ramp on 15 Mount street. There is one disabled car spot on Wilson Street on the other side of 15 Mount street, however the car spot backs directly onto a pedestrian crossing so access may be slightly impeded. No other options if that car spot is taken. Easy access from public transport however Mount Street is a steep incline from North Sydney station. 

TreeHouse Hotel

The Treehouse is a restaurant and bar, with easy wheelchair accessible entrance. There is one roadside accessible parking opposite side of the road (near the junction).

Good selection of high and low tables on both side after the entrance. Bar is quite high for ordering. Cafe cashier is lower.

There is an outdoor seating area with low tables and chairs. A small balcony with two steps stairs 

There is an accessible toilet right past the cashier desk on the same level. The toilet has standard facilities for an accessible toilet with a low wash basin. However the toilet was found to be used to store or keep the floor cleaning bucket and mop.

The TreeHouse is an accessible bar, restaurant and cafe located just off of Pacific Highway. Close to public transport with a bus stop and train station near by.
Steps leading up to the main entrance with small inclined ramp/path leading up to a courtyard area where you can access the building.
