About this place
Gilgandra Reserve
Gilgandra Reserve is a small neighbourhood park featuring a children’s playground, open grassy areas, mature shade trees, seating, and a pedestrian pathway connecting surrounding residential streets. The reserve is accessed via level pathways from the footpath and nearby shared path network.
The playground area is connected by wide, smooth concrete paths that provide step-free access throughout the reserve. The play space includes rubber soft-fall surfacing, which improves accessibility for children using mobility aids compared with loose mulch or sand surfaces. Seating is available around the reserve, allowing carers and visitors to supervise children while remaining close to the playground.
The playground includes standard play equipment such as swings, a small slide, climbing elements, and a spring rocker. While the pathways surrounding the play space are accessible, some of the play equipment may require assistance or may not be fully accessible for children with significant mobility impairments.
A drinking fountain, rubbish bin, and park signage are located near the entrance. The reserve is generally flat with good circulation space and no significant gradients observed. Large established trees provide shade throughout much of the park, creating a comfortable environment for visitors.
Overall, Gilgandra Reserve offers good accessibility for visitors using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, or prams, with step-free pathways, accessible entry points, and level open spaces throughout the reserve.
