The Royal Australian Mint is an accessible venue offering a suite of programs which can be enjoyed by all visitors. These range from education programs for all ages, school holiday programs, family tours, public talks, special events, exhibitions & quiet mornings.

A ramp leads into the Mint’s main entrance. The doorway is automatic & there is a lift on the ground floor that can take you up to the Gallery and Factory Viewing Area.  

You can access all public areas by lift.  When you arrive, the foyer lift takes you up to the Gallery and Factory Viewing Area.

The Mint Cafe is onsite along with The Mint Coin shop with a large selection of coins available for purchase straight from the factory.

Accessible toilets are on the ground floor and the first level. Currently, these amenities do not have a push button entry or slide pads.  There are baby change tables available in the Accessible toilets. 

The entry to the free car park is on Denison Street. Accessible spaces are available for visitors with a mobility parking permit.

Royal Australian Mint

Stromlo Leisure Centre is Canberra’s newest health and leisure facility overlooking the Molonglo Valley, offering world class health and wellbeing facilities.

Offering you access to a fully equipped gym, exercise studios, a 50m Olympic swimming pool, program pool and splash park.

Opening hours Mon to Fri 5.30am to 9.30pm and Sat to Sun 7am to 7.30pm

Services also include a cafe,   accessible parking & entry/exit access ramps, pool hoist and inclusive programming.

Stromlo Leisure Centre

The National Zoo & Aquarium is privately owned and Australia's only combined Zoo and Aquarium.  Situated on around 25 hectares of land just five minutes from the centre of Canberra.

Most of the National Zoo is accessible by wheelchair. The site does include some steep inclines however if you follow the designated adventure trail these areas will be avoided.  There are several mobility scooters available for hire. Advanced bookings are encouraged as there are limited units available on any given day. There is a wide variety of both native & exotic animals, as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia. There are a number accessible picnic areas, complimentary BBQ facilities along with Jungle Vines Cafe, Rhino Bistro, Adentureland Playground, Gift Shop, & Animal Encounters where you get the opportunity to get up close & personal with some of the worlds most amazing creatures.

There are a number of disabled car parking spaces available for use. These are located at the main entrance and near the secondary keyhole entrance.  Parking is free for all zoo and Jamala visitors.

Accessible toilets can be found at the park along with baby change room.

A full viewing of the zoo is a decent walk….easy for some, not so easy for others…

If your mobility isn’t great or you have toddlers who would struggle with the distance, you can split up your visit. You can do one section one day and return any time in the next 2 weeks to see the other section. Parking is generally available near the start of both sections.

National Zoo & Aquarium

The National Arboretum near Canberra features the Events Terrace Loop, a 0.6km loop trail taking an average of 9 minutes to complete.

This short accessible path begins & ends from the main car park, which can be reached directly from the Tuggeranong Parkway.  The trail is a mix of sealed & gravel path, intentionally wheelchair friendly.  The path takes you around the southern side of the village Centre, through a range of gardens including the National Bonsai Collection.    Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.  

Accessible toilets can be found at the Village Centre which is modern & functional with grab rails & under sink roll in.  Further accessible toilets can be found at the children's playground.  The playground also features accessible swings, a cafe & restaurant can be found closeby.

There are 11 disabled car parks near the entrance & 3 more outside the Margaret Whitlam Pavilion Function Centre.  Three wheelchairs are available for hire

Events Terrace Loop

The Weston Park Peninsula Loop is a 4.2km loop trail in the popular Weston Park located on a peninsula on the western side of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra.

Generally considered an easy route, the wide flat pathway allows for easy rolling & takes an average of just under 60 minutes to complete.

The cycle track runs throughout the park & also features a large scale adventure playground including water play, picnic tables, benches, BBQs & accessible public toilets at the playground.

The Yarralumla Play Station offers a minature railway & train, mini golf & cafe.  There is also a off-leash dog park, wild kangeroos, the Yarralumla Gallery, Oaks Brasserie, Heritage Nursery & SievX Memorial.

There is plenty of regular & alloacated disabled spots at Weston Park.

There is an accessible enormous red yurt in Naadam’s courtyard, which stands alongside a vibrant mural of Mongolia. Called a ger, which translates to ‘home’, the yurt functions as both an homage to the owner Mugi’s home country & a space for private events.  The yurt is a traditional nomadic dwelling, a symbol of Mongolian culture & hospitality.  With seating up to 16 people the yurt provides an inimate setting adorned with authentic Mongolian patterns.

The Alby is an accessible venue located on the ground floor of The Albemarle Building off Furzer Street in Woden. 

The Alby consists of bars, chef's table for private dining, beer garen, games basement with bar & food, Duckpin bowling, pinball machines & pool tables.

The Alby features large open step free doorways accessed via paved level pathway approach through a large garden with freestanding tables, chairs, fixed banquette seating & high tables with stools.   Inside is spacious with easy access to the bar & a range of high tables, stools, freestanding tables & chairs.

Accessible bathrooms can be found on the basement floor accessed via the lift on the ground floor.   The bowling lanes are not wheelchair friendly.

Wokitup is an accessible Asian noodle bar located on Botany Street, Phillip.
