Parliament House also known as Capital Hill or simply Parliament is the meeting place of the Parliament of Australia situated on the southern apex of the Parliamentary Triangle atop Capital Hill, at the meeting point of Commonwealth, Adelaide, Canberra and Kings Avenue enclosed by the State Circle.

Parliament House offers paved pathway approach to step free entry with daily guided tours to explore the architecture, history, art collections, Great Hall Tapestry, Chambers of the Senate & House of Representatives,  & behind-the-scenes experience (bookings are essential). Parliament House contains offers 4,700 roooms with many roooms open to the public. The main foyer contains a marble staircase & leads to the Great Hall with the large tapestry.

There is a Parliament Shop offering step free entry with space to move around the ailses & easy access to the counter.  

There is also the Queen's Terrace Cafe with step free entry lots of space to move around, freestanding tables & chairs & easy access to the counter.  There is accessible outside tables & chairs with umbrela shade.

Accessible toilets can be found closeby at Old Parliament Rose Gardens & parking onsite. 

Parliament House

The Royal Australian Mint is an accessible venue offering a suite of programs which can be enjoyed by all visitors. These range from education programs for all ages, school holiday programs, family tours, public talks, special events, exhibitions & quiet mornings.

A ramp leads into the Mint’s main entrance. The doorway is automatic & there is a lift on the ground floor that can take you up to the Gallery and Factory Viewing Area.  

You can access all public areas by lift.  When you arrive, the foyer lift takes you up to the Gallery and Factory Viewing Area.

The Mint Cafe is onsite along with The Mint Coin shop with a large selection of coins available for purchase straight from the factory.

Accessible toilets are on the ground floor and the first level. Currently, these amenities do not have a push button entry or slide pads.  There are baby change tables available in the Accessible toilets. 

The entry to the free car park is on Denison Street. Accessible spaces are available for visitors with a mobility parking permit.

Royal Australian Mint

Calthorpes House is a window into an almost forgotten world. Built in 1927 for the Calthorpe family, this genuine survivor is a treasure house of domestic history.  With original furnishings, household appliances & photos reflecting the fashionable ideal of style & taste in the middle class Australian home of the late 1920s.

Calthorpes House is a semi accessible venue with steps at the front of the property but there is rear ramp access.  There is a gravel path driveway leading up to the property with a slight steep.  The house was designed for the hot, dry Canberra summers and to correspond with the Garden City ideal of a free-standing cottage set within a large garden. Like many Canberra houses of this period it has a roughcast exterior finish painted in earthy colours, a tiled roof with shingled gables, arched verandahs and shuttered windows.  The gardens are accessible & even comes with an air raid shelter.

Calthorpes' House offers a range of popular community programs & learning programs throughout the year. Admission includes a guided tour of Calthorpes' House. The house is open Saturdays only, please see website for details & to book.

Accessible toilets can be found just over 1km away at Manuka Terrace.  Regular parking can be found on the street, there is no accessible parking closeby.

There is an accessible enormous red yurt in Naadam’s courtyard, which stands alongside a vibrant mural of Mongolia. Called a ger, which translates to ‘home’, the yurt functions as both an homage to the owner Mugi’s home country & a space for private events.  The yurt is a traditional nomadic dwelling, a symbol of Mongolian culture & hospitality. Wokitup! Phillip

A Bite To Eat is an accessible fully licensed venue located in the heart of Chifley.  There is a very slight step into the wide entry doorways with plenty of seating options.

Inside there are freestanding dining tables & chairs, lounge area with sofas with side tables, a sunny courtyard with freestanding tables & chairs along with plenty of tables & seating at the front of the venue accessed by paved pathway approach.  There is a small step from the entrance way to part of the dining area however the rest of the venue is level & accessible.

There are two accessible parking spaces right outside the venue along with further regular parking spaces.   Accessible toilets can be found nearby at Chifley Place, further toilets can 1km away at Colbee Court.
