Fairlight Walk

Fairlight Walk is a scenic coastal path along Sydney Harbour, running past Delwood Beach and Fairlight Beach. It features a wide, paved concrete surface suitable for power wheelchairs and assisted manual wheelchairs, though continuous gentle inclines, steep side stairs, and rock pool access constraints require planning.

Path Conditions & Terrain

• Surface: Smooth, wide concrete pathway providing excellent rollability.

• Gradient: Mostly gentle, undulating slopes.

• Key Access Limitation: Wheelchair users are recommended to turn around near the Manly Boatshed / Lauderdale Avenue junction where the paved path ends.

• Side Access Barriers: Side routes off the main path such as the long, steep flight of stairs near the Fairlight amenities are not accessible and require staying on the lower foreshore path.

Fairlight Beach Amenities & Accessible Toilets

• Toilet Facilities: Located at Fairlight Beach within the public amenities block, accessed via a paved path with a slight slope.

• Cubicle Features: Step-free tiled interior equipped with wall-mounted angled L-shaped grab rails.

• Hours & Access: Open during daylight hours. Locked outside daylight hours using a non-MLAK locking mechanism.

• Rock Pool & Beach Access:

  • An accessible ramp leads from the amenities concourse down to the rock pool platform.

  • The rock pool itself is not accessible (no ramped entry or hoist into the water).

  • There is no beach access ramp onto the sand.

Parking & Public Transport Connectivity

• Nearest Parking Area: Paved parking is located at the start of the walk near Manly Pavilion / West Esplanade (sloping asphalt, no dedicated accessible parking spaces).

• Closest Dedicated Accessible Parking: Whistler Street Council Carpark or on-street spaces along Wentworth Street and Market Lane in Manly.

• Public Transport: Approx. 5-minute flat wheel (400m) from Manly Wharf ferry terminal and bus interchange to the start of the walk at Manly Pavilion.
