Strathnairn Arts Association Inc. is a not for profit arts association supported by the ACT Government that provides working spaces & facilities for a range of artists, crafts people & community groups.

The venue is semi-accessible with step free entry to the majortity of areas accessed via paved level pathways. including the scuplture garden.  Some areas do have steps.  

Set in a converted 1920s homestead on the north-western outskirts of Canberra, Strathnairn’s 9.5 hectares is host to a Woolshed & Village Hall, all with views towards the Brindabella Mountains.

Located within the Homestead is the shop, which displays & sells a range of handmade works by local artists.

The venue also houses the Cafe Stepping Stone, a community-driven vegetarian kitchen serving café classics with an emphasis on locally grown produce & striving to connect with other ethical and small businesses.  There are freestanding tables & chairs both inside & outside. 

Accessible toilets can be found 500m away at Paddy's Park Blue Folk Lane.  Regular parking can be found onsite.

Hoyts Belconnen is located inside the Westfield shopping centre.

Enjoy the accessibility ease that comes with being inside Westfield. Lift access straight to the cinema. Best Parking Spot is Blue level.

Enjoy all the big blockbusters while being surrounded by state of the art surround sounds.Enjoy Treat city for your popcorn or Artie's Bar & Cafe for yummy hot food. Or Ben and Jerrys Scoop store for something creamy.

Booking accessible seats is best done online so you get the spots you desire.  Sunday of each  month, they have sensory screening for people with sensory issues or Autism, by dimming the lights and lowering the volume.  Visual Impairment Options AO and Hearing Options HO are  available check on their website for information on which movies have those options.

HOYTS Belconnen

Shepherds Lookout is an accessible walk starting at the small car park located on Stockdill Drive.  The track is easy to navigate being a 600m straight line walk down the road to the lookout. The walk consists of a paved path for the first 150m before turning into compacted earth.  The lookout itself is a metal trail platform on the edge of a steep section of the hillside & gives views straight ahead to the Murrumbidgee River over the surrounding landscape.  To the left of the platform you can see both the Murrumbidgee & Molonglo Rivers at their meeting point. 

On the return you can come back the way you came or take the track right on the right which loops left back to the main trail.  The track to the right also provides the option to turn right onto the long 9.1km Uriarra Loop Shepherds Lookout Walk which is not fully wheelchair accessible.  

Regular parking can be found at the small car park on Stockdill Drive or street parking.  The closest accessible toilet is just under 3km away at Paddy's Park.  

Shepherds Lookout Walk

West Belconnen Pond is  popular trail for dog walkers located in North Western Canberra, right near the ACT/NSW state border. The trail begins and ends from the parking area on Percy Begg Circuit, in the suburb of Dunlop 

Enjoy making your way along the mostly flat trail as you make a full circuit around the West Belconnen Pond. There are two playgrounds along the way, making it a great option for the kids. 

Picnic tables and BBQ areas are provided. Dogs welcomed must be on a leash.

NO TOILETS AVAIL ABE : closet is at 5 Charwood Place (5 mins by car)  cleanliness is a hit and miss . Better option Kippax Fair Shopping Centre  Toilets  . Opened 7am to 9pm ( 8 mins by car)

West Belconnen Pond

Café MAMÉ is an accessible venue in Melba offering a wide selection of vegetarian & vegan dishes, as well as gluten-free bread made in-house.

Accessible toilets can be found at Westfield Belconnen along with parking.  Closer accessible parking can be found at Oatley Court & 9 Weedon Court.

Drunken Tiger is an accessible Asian takeaway offering a small menu that crosses cuisines and cultures for dishes jam-packed with flavour that can be served up fast. 

The venue is the shop front next to Cafe Mame at the Melba shops.  This is takeaway only so no tables or chairs.

Accessible parking can be found just outside & accessible toilets 1km away at Charnwood Place. 

Drunken Tiger

Remedy by RSL is an accessible cosy neighbourhood coffee shop located in Belconnen.

The venue offers paved pathway approach to large open glass doorway with easy access to the counter & outdoor tables, chairs & stools with umbrella shade.

There is disabled parking spot opposite the venue along with further parking at Westfield Belconnen along with accessible toilets.  Further accessible toilets can be at Belconnen Fresh Food Markets.

The Shed is a cafe chain restaurant with stores throughout NSW & ACT serving home-style rustic meals & 100% Arabica bean coffee.  The cafes  feature calm earthy tones, industrial metal, concrete, brickwork & soft greenery.

The Belconnen store is located on level 2 Westfield centre accessed via paved level pathway approach to automatic glass entry doors.  Level 2 can be accessed via lift & escalator with step free entry into the cafe, access to the counter, freestanding tables, chairs & banquette seating.

Scullin SweetBones is an accessible bakery, cafe located in the Scullin Shops at Scullin PLace.

The venue offers step free entry via paved ramp pathway approach to glass entry doors.  Inside the airy cafe space with exposed brick featring the rustic-looking Sweet Bones logo on one wall, lots of art hanging on the other, & plenty of macrame plant holders hanging from the high ceiling. It’s a fun & welcoming space with a mix of couches, table seating & easy access to the counter.

Eighty/Twenty is an accessible cafe serving healthy, clean, natural & unprocessed whole foods.   With five locations across Canberra this Eighty/Twenty is located on Lathlain St, Belconnen.

The venue offers step free entry via paved level pathway approach to large open glass doors.  Inside is spacious with freestanding tables, chairs & easy access to the counter.  There is further outside covered seating, hightables & stools.  

There is accessible parking opposite in the large car park.  Accessible toilets 30m away at Westfield Belconnen & 600m away at Belconnen Fresh Food Markets.
