Surf Beach is Kiama’s main beach and is located a short walk from Kiama’s main streets, shops and cafes. 

Surrounded by a grassy park and children’s play equipment, it is popular for both swimming and surfing, with surfers calling the northern break “The Wedge”. Surf Beach is patrolled daily from the October long weekend through to Easter by Kiama Surf Living Saving Club. There is a beach wheelchair available to use, just ask at the club.

Accessed off Manning Street, there is accessible car parking available either end of Surf Beach & there are plenty of ramps & paths going along the beach & around the surf club. There are barbecue facilities, picnic tables, changing sheds, showers and public toilets. There is a disabled toilet on the western side of the surf club building which is large & accessible.

Shell Cove Marina is generally flat and open, with wide pathways around the waterfront, making it easier for wheelchair users and people using mobility aids to move around the area.

The marina precinct has step-free access through the main public areas. There are two ramps down to the marina boardwalk area, one on the left and one on the right, which provide access down to the waterfront.

The boardwalk and surrounding paths appear wide and spacious, with room to move along the marina and between the different venues.

There are several cafes and food options available along the marina, including cafés, dessert places and the Waterfront Tavern.

Most venues have outdoor seating along the waterfront, which generally appears spacious. Outdoor seating areas usually provide more room for wheelchairs and mobility aids compared to indoor seating.

A crepes/dessert shop is also located within the marina precinct, offering sweet food options near the waterfront seating areas.

The Waterfront Tavern is located along the marina boardwalk and has large indoor and outdoor dining areas with views of the water.

Because each venue is separate, entry conditions may vary slightly, but the surrounding pathways between the venues appear flat and easy to move through.

There is multiple parking available around the area, including a car park located near Shell Cove Woolworths.

Shellharbour Marina

Woolworths Shell Cove, there is parking available about 50 metres from the store entrance. Inside, the store floor is flat and smooth, with very spacious aisles that allow easy movement throughout. A toilet is available adjacent to the store!

On-street accessible parking

The toilet is located adjacent to Shell Cove Woolworths, about 100 metres from the main parking lot. There is one toilet available, which is easy to open and does not require a key for access.

Bliss Ice Cream and Gelato, there is parking available in a lot about 100 metres away. The indoor bench seating area is a little cramped with limited manoeuvring space, while the outdoor area is spacious with plenty of seating nearby. A public toilet is located just across the walkway.

Kiama Dumpling Shop, parking is available right outside the store. The shop is small with only a little space to move around inside. No restroom available.

Earnest Arthur Kiama, located on the main street in a flat area, with parking adjacent to the store. There is space outside for eating and some space inside for waiting, though limited room for moving around. No restroom is available inside.

Salwater cafe, Kiama,  there is accessible parking right next to the café. The surrounding area is flat. The pathway to the entrance is tight, but there is sufficient space inside and outside to eat at tables. Only an ambulant toilet is available.

Thai @ Kiama, accessible parking is available across the street aswell as a bus stop. There is a slight incline at the entrance, with adequate seating and space to move around both inside and outside. No restroom is available inside the store.

Meats and Greet BBQ Kiama, located inside the Kiama shopping complex, with parking available in the lot outside. Entry into the complex is slightly uphill, but the interior is flat. IInside pathway a little narrow but many options for seating. Restroom facilities are located within the complex about 100 m away.

Penny Whistlers Kiama, The store is located on a hill, but the inside is flat with enough space to move around. Only an ambulant toilet is available. Accssible Parking is available downhill next to the store or directly across the street.

Condon Park, a small park in Killalea, only has roadside parking available. From the parking area, the path slopes uphill to the main park area. The pathway is smooth, and all sections of the park are connected through it, allowing easy access throughout.

Kiama Harbour and environs is accessible and a nice stroll. There is a fish market and a fish food shop there.

All on the flat, plenty of parking, ramp access.
