Museum of the History of Tenerife

A late-16th-century mansion at Calle San Agustín 22, with a beautiful courtyard lined with stone columns and carved wooden balconies. The museum tells the story of the Canary Islands' society, economy and culture from the 15th to the 20th century. There's a free audio guide you can use on your own phone through the museum Wi-Fi, in six languages.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 9:00–20:00. Sunday, Monday and public holidays 10:00–17:00.

Entry: €5 general, €3.50 concessions. For Canary Islands residents it's €3, or €2 concessions. Free on Fridays and Saturdays from 16:00 to 19:00, and free for children under 8.

Place: The main entrance has one step. Use the flat, step-free door next to it instead. There's a call button, but it doesn't always work, so let the guard or staff know you're there and they'll open it for you. Inside, the museum is fully accessible. The courtyard is flat and paved, ramps lead into the rooms, and a lift connects the two floors. The route is clearly signposted.

Parking: No car access in the area. Get dropped off at the edge of the pedestrian zone, 5–10 minutes away along a flat path. There are plenty of accessible car parks nearby.

Peeing: There's a spacious, signposted accessible toilet. It has a grab rail on the wall side, clear space on the other side to transfer, and a baby changing table.
