The Dolomore Reserve Playground is off the beaten track tucked away on a side street & features fun wooden structures with wave slides, scrambling wall, fireman's pole, high bridge, climbing walls & various ladders.

The fully fenced area also has a giant climbing tree, spinner, sandpit.  There is a shelter with two tables & benches, unshaded table & seats, water taps & small grassy area.  

The playground is right next to an athletics field with track & tennis courts. Accessible toilet can be found 50m away from the playground at Dolomore Athletcis Reserve along with parking. 

Dolomore Reserve Playground

Highett Reserve Playground on Turner Road is a cute troll garden nestled under the shade of a large leafy tree which provides shade over the mainly fenced playground.

With statues of frogs, snakes & toadstools the park also features a wooden castle fort with firemans pole, windows & climbing frame, great seesaw, wooden balancing stumps, rock wall, monkey bars & three swings including a bird nest swing & one with a harness.

Closest accessible toilets can be found at Ampol Cheltenham North on Warrigal Road.

There are shaded tables & seats plus a shelter with BBQs, tables, regular toilets at the football club building & water fountain.  The playground is next to a huge expanse of ovals, three in total, pond & basketball half court.  

Free parking is available onsite along with on and off dog-lead areas.  there is no cafe onsite but one can be found 2 min drive from Highett reserve called Drip Café (88 Chesterville Road, Cheltenham) which has an outdoor area out the back which is also dog friendly.

Mordialloc Beach was one of the first accessible beaches in Victoria 25 minute drive south of Melbourne. 

There is a wide flat beach with a 300 metre long pier.   During the summer, beach patrol hours on weekends and public holidays between 12-5pm a beach a mat is rolled out along the sand towards the water. Free use of the Hippocampe beach wheelchair is avaialble via the Mordialloc Surf Life Saving Club, just turn up on the patrolled day and ask one of the lifeguards. There is no booking system. 

There is an accessible Surf Life Saving Club with great wheelchair access along with a disabled toilet. There is car parking and disabled parking outside the club house however on busy summer days it tends to fill up pretty quickly. There is a great walkway along the top of the beach which is wheelchair friendly as well.

Mordialloc Beach and Foreshore

Banksia Reserve features a village themed playground known as the Banksia Reserve Station.  

The mini-town theme playground incorporates a post office, police station, railway station, hospital, monkey bars, spinning wheel, sandpit & tunnels providing plenty of play opportunities for a range of ages.  There is also the train accessed via a rock-climbing wall & disembark down the slide.

The playground is located next to the oval with a vast grassed area, drinking fountain, off-leash dog exercise area, shaded seating & level pathway track around the playground. 

There are regular toilets onsite, closest accessible ones can be found just under 1km away at Concourse Shopping Centre, North Concourse & Seaview Shops, Balcombe Road.  On-street parking only

Banksia Reserve Playground

Thomas Street Reserve features an all-abilities playground with extensive accessible play equipment.

There is an amazing intricate climbing castle structure with ramps, stairs, tunnels, multiple slides, DJ spinning deck with sound.  All ability equipment, including a wheelchair accessible trampoline.  Shaded waterplay / splash area, sandpit, fake turf with cow seat and pumpkin statues, parkour area, zip liner, multiple slides & swings, rocking boat, sculptures & giant hamster wheel.

Seniors exercise area complete with fitness equipment, undercover picnic area, drinking fountain, BBQs & multiple shaded picnic areas.  The playground is adjacent a spacious green reserve to kick a ball, or enjoy a picnic amongst shady trees.  

There is also a 500-metre waking path which can also be used for bike riding, scooters & easy rolling along with a nature walkway with little nest-like huts.

There are toilets onsite including Changing Places facility with fully accessible equipment.

Free Street parking is available – gets busy from mid-morning & into the afternoon.

Thomas Street South Reserve Playground

Basterfield Park on Dane Road at Hampton East features two playgrounds in the one park.

At one end of the park the playground consists of double zip line, sandpit, waterplay area, cubby house & shaded climbing house with slides & tunnels.

The other end of the park features an undercover gazebo, BBQ facilities, picnic tables & expansive open space.  There is an inclusive spinner, swings, climbing structure & crocodile & platypus statues.  

Inbetween the two playgrounds is a duck-filled lake,  tree-lined grass area, easy roll pathways & benches dotted around.  

Accessible toilets can be found onsite, parking on the street. 

Basterfield Park

Mentone Racecourse Reserve sits on the spot of the former horse racing course which operated from 1888 to 1948. The racecourse continued as a training ground until 1972 when the area was sold as a housing estate.

The playground has honoured the horse racing theme with decorated images of racehorses. horse jumps, jockey & life-size horse statues & ride on rocking horse springers overlooking the water.  The playground also features a wooden maze, flying fox, merry-go-round, climbing net,  slides, swings & a sandpit.  There is also a half court basketball, AFL & soccer posts, & a tennis rebound wall.

At the centrepiece of the park is an ornamental lake with water fountains, home to ducks & water birds surrounded by accessible walking trails & bridges & landscaped open spaces.  

There are multiple BBQs, sheltered & non sheltered seating, accessible toilets, baby changing facilities & free parking available at the reserve.  

Mentone Racecourse Reserve

Black Rock Foreshore features a pirate themed fully fenced playground overlooking a beautiful bay in Victoria in the heart of Black Rock Village.

There is a pirate ship climbing structure with captains quarters, wooden steering wheel, telescope, under deck cubby house, rope bridges, nets to climb, ladders & if you need to jump ship a wave slide. 

The park also features a huge rope pyramid, swings, slides, dolphin/shark seesaw, balance beams, spinners.

There are lead-in pathways, picnic tables, drinking fountain, shaded area, benches, BBQs, landscaping, regular toilet & metered car park.  Accessible toilets can be found 720m away at Half Moon Bay Lower Foreshore.

You can also walk, scoot, cycle or roll along the coastal path to Rickets Point Marine Sancuary or check out some of the interesting shops in Black Rock Village.

Black Rock Playground

This beautiful walk along the bluestone sea wall of Black Rock Beach to Ricketts Point Tea House & Marine Sanctuary is accessible by wheelchairs, walkers, cycles & scooters & oly becomes inaccessible to wheelchairs at the stairs between the road & beach.  These can be avoided to just stay on the pathways & just enjoy the views.

The walk starts at Black Rock Gardens, overlooked by the four faced tower block & featuring a great pirate themed playground with picnic tables, benches, BBQs, drinking fountain & regular toilets.

There is a ramp down to the sea wall sealed pathway & beautiful clear water & sections of beach. At the end of the wall there is another grassy picnic area with a rotunda, table & chairs.  There is also the sheltered Quiet Corner Beach where there are often swans & pelicans. 

To get to Rickets Point you can either walk along the beach or head up the stairs & take the Bay Trail along Beach Road.  For those not on wheels there is the option to go through the vegetation along the unsealed coastal cliff top path.

Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary is part of the long stretch of beach that runs along the bayside suburbs & its shallow water & collection of rock pools is great for little kids. There are all sorts of marine life from seaweed, shells, little creatures, seabirds, even black swans can all be found in the area.

The Ricketts Point Beachside Cafe offers wheelchair access, family friendly & seating for up to 200 people. The menu changes according to seasons & is also licensed to serve beers, ciders, wine & champagne with the gardens featuring electronic BBQs. lovely views & plenty of parking.

Black Rock Beach to Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary

Ricketts Point Beaumaris is a fully accessible venue situated on the Rickett’s Point foreshore in Bayside, Victoria.  Located on Marine Sanctuary with unparalleled views of Port Phillip Bay & sightings of dolphins, pelicans & black swans.

The venue offers step free entry along with ramp access to outside seating.  There are tables & chairs both inside & outside, all chairs are moveable but some tables are fixed.  The food is contemporary, pizzas, platters, seafood with beer on tap, wine & cocktails.  Dogs are welcome but you need to book certain outside tables.  

There is desginated disabled parking outside the venue & accesible toilets onsite

Rickett's Point Beachside Cafe

Allambee Park in Sandringham features a playground with partly shaded climbing structure with dual wave slides, firemans pole, ladder, climbing wall, hanging rope, inclined walkway, shopfront, monkey bars, flying fox & hanging disk traverse.

There is also a truck springer, two swings, stand-on spinner, seesaw, birds nest swing, sandpit with water play, lots of diggers & wide open space with some shade provided by the leafy green trees & wide level accessible pathways.

There are picnic tables & benches, shaded table, water taps & unshaded seat.  Free parking is available but no toilet onsite.  The closest accessible toilets can be found around 1km away at Peterson Reserve, Tulip Street Reserve, Southey Street Foreshore with a Changing Places Facility at Thomas Street South Reserve.

Illaroo Reserve located on Wells Road, Beaumaris features a playground with huge leafy tree offering shade surrounded by grassed areas.

The playground consists of slides, fireman poles, see-saw, in-ground trampoline, tic tac toe, climbing equipment, birds nest swing, two standard swings & shaded sandpit.

There are BBQ facilities, shaded & unshaded tables & seats, easy roll pathways, water tap & on-street parking.

There are no toilets onsite, closest accessible ones can be found around 600m away at Mundy Street Mentone Foreshore on Bay Trail & Seaview Shops on Balcombe Road.
