Broadwater Parklands is an accessible park with plenty of parking. There is big green in the middle of the parklands for family picnics & BBQs in the northern section of the park which are accessible by wheelchairs.

Permanent mobility beach matting is located near the swimming enclosure. The matting connects with the pathway and includes a landing section, which is partially covered by a shade sail. Please note that the matting at this location, may not reach the hard sand - depending on the tide.  There is a floating pontoon and walkway which has been designed to provide access for everyone.

 There is a Liberty Swing found at the Washington Waters Playground. Please contact onsite security for access on 0439 580 243. 

Each toilet block at the Parklands has an accessible option including a Changing Places toilet. This toilet includes an adjustable height change table, ceiling tracking hoist and shower, MLAK is required for access. Day visitors, who are eligible for a key, may contact Broadwater Parklands onsite security to gain access. Please phone 0439 580 243. 

Accessible car parking spaces are located directly outside the Changing Places toilet.  There are accessible spaces in each of the park's carparks

Broadwater Parklands Southport

Mermaid Beach is a coastal suburb on the Gold Coast in Queensland, with a relaxed stretch of golden coastline. The beach is  a two-kilometre expanse of sand, bounded by Miami and Nobby's Beach to the south and busy Broadbeach to the north, which offers three pristine swimming areas patrolled by Mermaid Beach Life Saving Club.

Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club offers beach matting Sunday: 8:30am – 12pm throughout the lifesaving season. The Sandcruiser (adult and child sizes) & Mobi-Chair are available 9:30am to 3:30pm, Sundays, September to May. Bookings are not taken for this, you just turn up on the Sunday morning & volunteers located near the tower are able to help get people down to the waters edge. Mermaid Surf Life Saving Club is often heralded by locals as one of the Gold Coast’s best clubs, popular for its vast menu & extensive balcony overlooking Hedges Avenue and the Pacific Ocean.  The Surf Club also offers accessible toilets.  Under the Surf Club is the step-free  smoothie & coffee bar Rafiki By The Sea & further down Venura Raod is Bam Bam Bakehouse.

Across from the Surf Club is Ken Mansbridge Park which offers a range of facilities including outdoor showers, exercise equipment beach volleyball courts and nets, barbeques and shaded picnic tables.  There are public and disabled toilets, plus beach access points and platforms for wheelchairs, accessible beach matting and two Sandcruiser beach wheelchairs (adult and child size).

Parking can be found at the Surf Club & also along the promenade.

Mermaid Beach

Kurrawa Surf Club is a wheelchair friendly venue with lift access & disabled toilets in level 1 bistro area. Tower 28 café is located outdoors on ground level and has easy access for wheelchairs as well. 

There is the Sandcruiser beach access wheelchair available for loan Monday - Friday between 10am & 3.00pm which can be booked via lifesaving@kurrawasurf.com.au or phone 07 5527 5660, however, there is no beach matting.

There is a Changing Places toilet located near the Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club (just outside the All Abilities playground). It replaced the old change room in the playground. The new facility has more space and a wide entry door for beach wheelchairs and includes a shower. There are two off-street accessible car parking spaces are located approximately 100 metres south of the toilet.

Across from the beach is The Oasis Shopping Centre with many retail stores, supermarkets & food courts. There is a easyroll beachfront boardwalk, showers, shwltered picnic spots & grassy park areas.  

Kurrawa Surf Club Broadbeach

At the northern end of Pratten Park is the All Abilities Playground which features 3 main play zones - The hill, the sandcastle and the submarine – with a range of flat and wide concrete paths and fun play equipment between them. 

 The hill area consists of climbing net, huge hill slides, climbing walls with swings covered by a large colourful shade sail.  

The sandcastle zone has 2 sandpits, 3 wheelchair height sand castle tables & a ramp leading to the sandcastle turret.  There are also water jets & shade sails.  

The undersea zone features a fully accessible submarine with wheelchair height controls,  sea creature sculptures & mounds of seagrass.  There is also an accessible sway bridge, flying fox,  swing set catering for up to 5 children, liberty swing, fully harnessed seat for those who need more support. 

The park also features a toilet and adult-sized changing facility designed specifically for those with disabilities and special needs. This facility includes an adjustable height change table, ceiling tracking hoist and toilet. You need to bring your own four-looped sling to use the hoist. A MLAK is required for access. Two off-street accessible car parking spaces are located approximately 100 metres south of the facility.

The playground is fully fenced & interactive with ramps, paths & access to all zones.  There is seating throughout the playground & BBQs within walking distance of the playground.  

All Abilities Playground at Kurrawa Pratten Park

Southport Main Beach is a 2km section immediately south of Narrow Neck. The Southport Surf Life Saving Club, Nippers Club & a dressing shed are located just off the beginning of The Esplanade.  They are fronted by a large car park, a fenced foredune reserve and the beach.

The beach offers accessible beach matting, beach showers, parking & an accessible toilet can be found at Main Beach Viewing Platform.

A wide paved pathway lines the foreshore with benches, BBQs  & picnic tables.  The Southport SLSC patrols Southport Mian Beach & the restaurant & bar at the surf club offers great views over the beach.

Surfers Paradise is a seaside resort on Queensland's Gold Coast in eastern Australia with a three kilometre strip of golden sand. The Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club is wheelchair accessible from the street with parking, automatic entry doors and a lift to the restaurant, bar and gaming rooms.

There is a disabled toilet downstairs, beach wheelchair accessible beach showers & plenty of room for wheelchairs to move around the venue. For beach access there is beach matting available on Sundays 8:30am – 3:30pm. 

There are the Waterwheels, Hippocampe (adult and child sizes), Davinci beach wheelchairs available 9:30am to 3:30pm, Sundays, September to May. Just email admin@surfersparadiseslsc.com.au or phone 07 5531 5966.  A hoist is available at Surfers Paradise Beach, small and medium sling sizes are available. You will need to bring a support person to assist with transfers.

More accessible toilets can be found on The Esplande, Eileen Peters Park & Paradise Centre.  Further accessible parking can be found at the Paradise Centre & Bruce Bishop Car Park.
