A & D Lawrence Oval offers an expansive grassed area, athletic tracks & cricket nets.

There is a large car park, accessible amentities block with changing rooms, toilets including an accessible stall.  There is also a canteen available for hire , shaded cover & benches.

There is also a playground consisting of slides, climbing structure with ropes, monkey bars covered by shade sails.

Allan & Don Lawrence Sports Fields in Thornton are popular community grounds used for local sport, training, and recreation. 

Access into the fields is step-free, with wide open entry points suitable for wheelchairs, prams, and mobility aids. Pathways around the grounds are mostly flat and even though some areas closer to the fields may be grass or gravel, which can be harder to navigate after wet weather. Seating is available in the form of benches and shaded spectator areas. 

Public toilets are on-site, including an accessible toilet, though facilities may be basic compared to indoor venues. Parking is available in a car park beside the fields, with some designated accessible spaces close to the entrance. There is a Canteen open for sporting events, serving food, drinks and treats.

Overall, the sports fields are open and welcoming, offering good community access with practical features to support visitors with mobility needs.

Allan and Don Lawrence Field

This small playground is located in the middle of Thornton's residential area and is located right around the corner from Somerset Sports Field. You can get to the park from Featherwood Pl or you can turn down to the sports field from Somerset Drive and find allocated parking there.

Somerset park is an ungated, unsheltered playground with a bit of a wavy grass plain around it. Once you get to the playground, you'll find it is floored out with soft-fall rubber and concrete outskirts to make it a smooth and easy surface. There is a seat on location as well.

Parking can be found by the sports field although the closest parks you will find is on Featherwood Pl with street-side parks. There are no toilets on location.
