Rio Caspe Aventura — Nautical & Water Sports Club

    Embalse de Caspe, Aragon, Spain

    About the Venue

Set on the stunning shores of the Mequinenza reservoir in Aragon, Rio Caspe Aventura is an outdoor activity centre with a beautiful lakeside setting. The open-air atmosphere and spectacular water views make it a genuinely appealing destination. However, it is important to be aware of significant accessibility limitations before you visit, so you can plan your trip accordingly and make the most of what the venue has to offer.

    Getting There & Parking

There is a spacious gravel car park just before the main entrance to the hangar and sports area. Parking is available here, but be aware that the gravel surface can make it difficult to manoeuvre a wheelchair or other mobility device. From the car park, you will also need to roll down a small hill towards the water sports centre, which may require assistance.

A better option, if possible, is to request that the barrier be opened on arrival. If you are a member, or if staff are willing to assist, the barrier can be raised to allow a vehicle drop-off right on the deck — the pier directly in front of the water — which makes access significantly easier and saves you navigating the gravel and the slope entirely.

Please note there are no designated accessible parking bays at the venue.

    Entering the Sports Area

The nautical club and sports facilities are located within a gated area that requires a pass to enter. The entrance has a barrier and no ramp, so if you are not able to arrange a drop-off through the barrier, wheelchair users and people using other mobility devices may find this initial access point challenging.

    Getting Into the Water

The water entry point is one of the more positive accessibility features of the venue. A gently sloping ramp leads directly into the water with no steps, and a mobility device can get right up to the water’s edge. This means that, depending on your own abilities and with the support of your group, getting close to the water is very much possible.

That said, the venue does not provide any adaptive equipment, hoists, or transfer assistance of any kind, so getting from your device into a kayak, canoe, paddleboard, or any other watercraft is something you would need to manage independently or with the help of your own companions.

    Water Sports & Activities

Rio Caspe Aventura offers a range of water sports on the reservoir, including kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and jet skiing. However, none of these activities are currently adapted for people with disabilities. There are stairs leading down to the jet ski area, and no specialist adaptive equipment, grab rails, or hoists are available on site.

If you are interested in trying a kayak or canoe and feel it may be manageable based on your own abilities, it is worth calling ahead — though be prepared for the likelihood that the venue will advise that adaptive sport is not something they currently support or facilitate.

    What You Can Still Enjoy

If you are visiting as part of a group, the accessibility limitations need not prevent you from having a great time. There is a lovely accessible terrace right next to the lake where you can relax, take in the views, and enjoy a drink while your companions take part in the water sports. Flat access to the terrace is available, making it a genuinely welcoming spot to soak up the lakeside atmosphere.
