Wollongong Art Gallery has free entry and hosts multiple exhibitions throughout the year. The venue has a ramped, step-free entry and appears flat and spacious throughout the main gallery areas, making movement easier for wheelchair users and people using mobility aids.

Access into the gallery is via a ramp at the entrance. Inside, the venue appears open and spacious, with wide gallery areas and room to move around comfortably.

The gallery is generally flat across the main accessible levels.

There are stairs to some upper gallery areas, however there is also a lift available to most floors, including up to Level 3. The lift is easy to find from the entrance, located to the right of the entry.

One thing to note is that there is another section the lift does not go to, so some parts of the gallery may still require stairs to access.

There does not appear to be seating or benches inside the gallery for resting, so this may be worth keeping in mind if you need to stop and sit during your visit.

Illawarra Performing Arts Centre (IPAC) has step-free access into the venue via a ramp. The surrounding surface is flat, and there is generally enough room to move around inside without the space feeling tight.

Theatre Seating
Wheelchair seating is available inside the theatre. It is recommended to call prior to booking, as staff may need to remove seats to create the wheelchair spaces.
One theatre has a maximum of 4 wheelchair spaces available, while the other theatre has 2 wheelchair spaces available. Companion Cards are accepted.

Toilets
There is no fully accessible toilet available, however the toilets have ambulant cubicles in the female and male toilets and there is reasonable space within the toilet area. The female toilets are located to the right of the cafe. The male toilets are located further down to the left of the cafe, follow the pathway all the way to the end.

Parking
There is one accessible carpark in front of IPAC, however it is timed and limited. You can find other parking close by at Woolworths carpark just down the road (about a 5 minute walk).

Public Transport
There is a bus stop directly in front of IPAC. This is a paid bus service.Premier Illawarra runs public bus services across Wollongong using modern, low-floor, air-conditioned city buses. Some routes feature step-free entry buses for wheelchair users. Before planning your trip, it is best to call (02) 4271 1322 to check whether an accessible bus is operating on your chosen route.

Illawarra Performing Arts Centre (IPAC)

Beaton Park is a sports centre with a leisure centre and tennis courts. The venue is generally flat, with no hills and no steps along the main access areas. The pool area includes a pool hoist, which can assist with access into the water. There are also accessible toilets and accessible shower facilities available within the leisure centre pool area. An additional accessible toilet is available within the leisure centre. The tennis courts are also wheelchair accessible. If needed, it may be helpful to contact the venue when booking so a court can be allocated closer to the car park.

Parking
There are three car parks at Beaton Park, plus a line of roadside car spaces. The furthest car park does not have accessible parking spaces. The middle car park, which is the closest to the leisure centre, has 2 accessible parking spaces in the middle row and 5 accessible spaces next to the leisure centre. The tennis court car park does not have accessible spaces, however it is flat and the parking spaces are relatively large. There are also 2 accessible parking spaces in front of the tennis courts, accessed via Foley Street.

Public Transport
Public transport is available further down the road and across the road. This includes both free and paid bus services. The free bus options include 55A and 55C. Tennis Court Amenities

Beaton Park Leisure Centre

Beta Home Living is a home appliance and electronics retailer selling items such as refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, and televisions. It has a step at the entrance, however a portable metal ramp is available on request (ask staff on arrival and for exit). The ramp does not seem steep. The store has automatic doors and there is enough room inside to move around.

Parking is very limited in the immediate area, and there is a kerb near the venue. It is best to park on Keira Street where possible. There is parking around nearby streets, however accessing the store from those areas may require walking around the block due to multiple stairs along some routes.

There are no toilets onsite, including no accessible toilet. The closest toilets are at Wollongong Central mall (approximately a 7-minute walk) or Hotel Illawarra (across the road).

Tsuki Dining, Wollongong, ;ocated downhill in an alleyway from Crown Street. Parking is available 200m away on Crown Street or in the Wollongong Central parking lot. The entrance is on a slight incline with smooth asphalt. Inside, the space is flat with plenty of room to move around. One accessible toilet with handrails is available inside.

Tsuki Dining

Opus Coffee Brewers has a low lip/raised threshold at the entrance (not step-free). Entry is through a manual door that opens inwards. The doorway is more accessible when both doors are open, however this occurs only sometimes, so access may vary depending on whether staff have opened both doors at the time of arrival.

Inside, the venue is spacious, with tables spaced out and plenty of room to move around, which supports wheelchair circulation once inside.

Parking is not available directly in front of the venue. Some parking is available across the road. There is also parking available at Keira Lane (limited spaces). Two paid car parks are located on Market Street: one when turning left off Keira Street, and one on the right. Both paid car parks are approximately a 5-minute walk from the venue.

Inside, the venue is tight between tables with a narrow aisle, making wheelchair movement difficult. Tables are fixed and cannot be moved to create additional space.

Outdoor seating is available and is flat/step-free to access.

Amigos Mexican Restaurant

The entrance is step-free with a small incline ramp (not steep). The door opens inwards and is not heavy. Inside, there is enough space to move around comfortably.

The Living Room Wollongong

Crazy Pasta is not wheelchair accessible due to a single standard step at the entrance and a cramped internal layout. While the doorway is wide enough for a wheelchair, entry still requires stepping up and the door must be pushed inward (door weight not confirmed). There is no ramp and no confirmed step-free alternative entrance. Even if an alternative entrance existed, the tight spacing between tables and the counter would make wheelchair movement difficult inside the venue. There are no outdoor tables.

Parking is limited. There is time-limited street parking on Keira Street, including one accessible parking space. There are also two paid car parks on Market Street: one when turning left off Keira Street, and another on the right. Both paid car parks are approximately a 5-minute walk from the venue.

@Thai Gong Restaurant

Miss Boba is not wheelchair accessible due to two steps at the entrance. Entry is via a standard manual door that opens inwards. There is no alternate entrance and no ramp option available. Inside, there is lots of space to move around once inside.

There is no kerb cut directly at the venue. To access a kerb cut, you need to go to the end of the street, approximately a couple of minutes’ walk.

MISS BOBA

Atari Japanese Cuisine is not wheelchair accessible due to a high step at the entrance and a cramped internal layout. The entrance door is manual and opens inwards. There is no ramp and no alternate step-free entrance.

Inside, the space is very limited, with tight spacing between tables, narrow aisles, and tight corners, making wheelchair movement difficult. Seating/tables are not easily adjustable to create additional space.

Akari Japanese Restaurant

Karma Tea House is a vegan restaurant that may be accessible for some wheelchair users, however there is a very small step at the entrance (approximately a quarter of a standard step). Entry is through a normal single door that should fit most wheelchairs. The door is light and opens with a push. Access is step-only (no ramp option).

Inside, the venue is flat but small. The tables can be moved to create space for a wheelchair, and staff are willing to help rearrange tables and assist if needed. Without moving tables, the space can feel a little cramped due to the venue size. There are no tight corners and no narrow aisle to the counter.

Karma Tea House（善緣素食）

Bollywood Indian Kitchen is an Indian restaurant with a long, narrow internal layout. The entrance appears step-free, with double manual doors that are typically kept open.

Inside, tables are arranged in rows along both sides of the venue with a central walkway running down the middle. The walkway appears fairly clear, allowing movement through the restaurant, though space between tables may feel tighter when the venue is busy. Seating is indoors only.

The footpath outside the venue is flat and wide, providing space to move along the street frontage.

Parking is available at the front of the venue.

There are no toilets onsite, including no accessible toilet. The closest accessible toilets are in the mall near Coles (accessible via the lifts to the lower ground floor). The route includes a small decline and requires crossing through two sets of traffic lights.

Bollywood Indian Kitchen

Domino’s has a step-free entrance. Entry is via manual double doors that open inwards (can be opened wider as needed). Inside, the store is somewhat spacious, with room to move around within the customer area. The ordering/pick-up counter area may become busier at peak times.

There is limited indoor seating available.

A small parking lot is available next to the building. From the parking lot to the entrance there is no kerb, however the pathway is on a slight angle/downhill when approaching Domino’s. Additional parking is available on Keira Street.

There are no public toilets onsite, including no accessible toilet. The closest toilets are at Wollongong Central mall or Hotel Illawarra, approximately a 10-minute walk away. The pathway to these toilets is flat.

Domino's Pizza Wollongong City

El Jannah is located along Crown Street and has level access from the footpath into the restaurant.

The entrance has wide glass doors, providing good clearance for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and prams. The threshold appears mostly level, allowing relatively straightforward entry.

Inside the restaurant, the flooring consists of large smooth tiles, which are suitable for wheelchair movement. The dining area is spacious, with wide walkways between tables and seating areas. There is a mix of booth seating and standard tables. Booth seating may be less accessible, but the standard tables with movable chairs allow space for a wheelchair.

The service counter is located toward the rear of the restaurant and appears to be standard height.

There is an accessible toilet available within the venue’s facility, however it is not directly inside the main dining area.

To reach the toilet, you need to walk down a corridor area connected to the restaurant, then continue through a second corridor. Along this route there is a short ramp with handrails on both sides, which provides access to the toilet area.

The accessible toilet is unisex and includes grab rails beside the toilet, space for wheelchair positioning, and a wide door for entry.

Although the toilet is within the same facility, it is a short walk from the restaurant seating area, which may require additional time to access.

Parking is available along Crown Street nearby, and there is outdoor seating in the plaza area directly outside the restaurant.

El Jannah Chicken Wollongong

North Wollongong Beach has a shared pathway and concrete concourse running along the length of the beach, providing flat access for wheelchairs, mobility aids, and prams along the beachfront area.

Free beach wheelchairs are available and can be booked for use during patrol hours. It is recommended to book in advance through the Wollongong City Council website.

Beach wheelchairs and beach matting are typically available 8:00am – 6:00pm daily during the high season (Sat 31 Jan – Fri 20 Mar 2026).

Beach matting can also be arranged at this location on request. Visitors can speak to the lifeguards or contact Wollongong City Council for assistance.

Accessible parking spaces are available along Cliff Road, next to Stuart Park and in surrounding car parks near the beach.

The path from accessible parking to the beach matting is mostly flat, although some sections include a small incline.

Public transport is available nearby. A bus stop is located along Cliff Road, approximately halfway down the beach area.

The free Gong Shuttle bus (routes 55A and 55C) services this stop and runs throughout Wollongong and Fairy Meadow.
