Parking

There are four main parking areas servicing the beach:

• Two upper car parks along Cowper Street, each with accessible parking spaces available.

• A car park near the lookout area with two accessible parking spaces.

• Two accessible parking spaces are also available in the lower beach car park near the beachfront access area.

The lower car park provides one of the closest and more direct access points to the beach and beachfront facilities. Accessible parking is also available near the pool precinct off Olympic Boulevard.

Pathways & General Access

• A wide paved concourse and shared pathways connect different sections of the beachfront area.

• Pathways observed appeared relatively flat and suitable for wheelchairs, mobility aids, and prams in many sections.

• Open paved areas provide room for movement and turning space.

• Seating is available along parts of the beachfront foreshore.

• Some areas include gentle inclines between parking areas and beach facilities.

Beach Access

• A ramp leads from the lower beach area toward the sand.

• Sand movement may partially cover sections of the ramp depending on weather and wind conditions.

• Visitors can choose between remaining on paved foreshore areas or accessing sandy beach sections depending on their comfort and mobility needs.

• Beach matting can be arranged at this location on request through Wollongong City Council or lifeguards.

Beach Wheelchairs

• Free beach wheelchairs are available for hire during patrol hours.

• These wheelchairs are designed for accessing the sand and water.

• Hiring arrangements and availability may vary depending on season, patrol times, weather, and beach conditions.

• Accessible public toilet facilities are available near the beachfront precinct.

• A “Changing Places” Accessible Adult Change Facility is available at the Port Kembla Pool building. Features include:

• Accessible showers and change facilities are also available near the beach and pool area.
