Roy Jordan Sports Complex in Gillieston is a large community facility with sporting fields, training areas, and open space for local clubs and families. 

Entry is step-free, with wide open access points and smooth pathways connecting the main areas, making it suitable for wheelchairs, prams, and mobility aids. The grounds are mostly flat, though some grassy and gravel areas may be harder to navigate, especially in wet conditions. Seating is available around the fields, with shaded shelters and basic picnic facilities. 

Public toilets, including an accessible toilet, are located on-site. Parking is provided in a nearby car park, with some designated accessible spaces close to the main entrance.

Maitland Park All Abilities Playground is a great fully fenced, shaded, accessible playground.

To start the playground offers a liberty swing & flying fox designed for children with a disability all accessed by wide level access pathways.  The park features three swings (two of which are baby/toddler swings), roundabout, toddler playground, second flying fox, climbing structure with walls, steps, rope ladders, bridge, slides & balacing rocks & crocodiles & sensory area with ladybird xylophone & bongo drums.

The park also offers a pretend road complete with signs, crossings, speed bumps & refueling station.  There is a wide path that winds around the park grounds & neat gardens which is great for easy rolling & you can follow this path to the War Memorial & back.

There is a large shaded car park, accessible toilets, water fountain, undercover picnic tables, BBQs & grassy areas shaded by huge, old leafy trees.  The park is also located directly opposite Maitland Aquatic Centre.

Bolwarra Heights Lookout is located on Paterson Road & provides  spectacular views over the city & farmaland.

The playground at the lookout consists of a small sheltered play area with swing , playhouse & tractor with wide level easy roll pathways around the playground.

There are undercover picnic tables & benches overlooking the expansive grassed area & view, large car park with designated parking spots & regular toilets.

Bolwarra Heights Lookout Playground

Hunterglenn Drive Park is located in Bolwarra Heights & offers a covered playground with level concrete lead-in pathways.

The playground consists of swing set & climbling structure with rope ladders & easy-fall flooring surrounded by large grassed area.  

Unfortunately there is no accessible toilets nearby & parking is on the street.

Joesph Maxwell Park VC in Gillieston Heights offers a large grassy area & level paved lead-in pathways to a playground.

The playground is partly sheltered by a shade sail including swing set, slide & climbing structure with rope ladders & bridge along with picnic tables & benches.

Parking is on-street & there are no accessible toilets close-by, the closest are over 2.5kms away.  

Joseph Maxwell VC Park

The Rigby is a popular café and restaurant in Maitland, known for its relaxed atmosphere and modern menu. 

Access into the venue is step-free, with a wide entrance that suits both wheelchairs and prams. Inside, the space combines open seating areas with some tighter spots, and while it can get busy during peak times, staff are attentive and willing to help with adjustments. Tables come in a variety of heights, offering flexible seating options. An accessible toilet is available on-site. Parking is located on nearby streets; while convenient, designated accessible spaces are limited, so planning ahead may be helpful. 

The Rigby is both a social spot and dining destination, offering good accessibility features alongside a welcoming environment.

the RIGBY

McKeachies Sportsground Playground is located right next to the sports ground. The playground equipment unfortunately isn't accessible however with the playground being pretty much connect to the sportsground, providing shelter and other facilities when opened.

There is accessible parking right out front of the playground or along Redgum Circuit when the gate to the parking is closed. There is a ramp that winds from the sportsground facilities to the playground area, making it accessible to all.

Unfortunately facilities such as bathrooms aren't always accessible, due to them being locked on occasions.

McKeachie's Sportsground Playground

This playground is located at Victor Warby Reserve, Gillieston Heights.

This non-gated playground has plenty of equipment for to play on, some being monkey bars, tyre swing, and a little climbing tower with a slide. There is plenty of shelter at the location, with a tarp over half the playground and covered seating. Flooring is soft-fall rubber with a paved cement path all around the park, making it very easily accessible.

The best place to park is at the front of the Community Hub right next to the playground, offering vertical parking spots rather than curb side. Unfortunately, there are no toilets on-site with the closest being at the small shopping area just up Redwood Drive.

Gillieston Heights Playground

Lavender Café is located along Maitland's Levee and is a beautiful spot to have your morning tea. This spot features primarily a outdoor seating setting with a very small and condensed inside for those who rather have a inside setting. It features a tiled flooring pattern inside and around the venue which gives it a nice flat surface to walk on. The tables and seating are wooden with table space being a bit restricted.

The best options for parking is the underground carpark at Kmart which is accessible via Bulwer Street and Bourke Street or you can park near the Imperial which is through Stillbury lane, in which you'll find a carpark. Both of these options are about a 5 minute walk to the location of the café.

There are no bathrooms on-site and the closest public toilets will be in the stairwell at the Kmart with the underground parking.

Lavenders Cafe

The Hunter River Hotel is a great spot to grab lunch and chill with the family. The best way to get to this venue is to turn into Day Street and find the entrance to the parking lot just past the building.

This pub offers an abundant of services, including indoor and outdoor seating, kids playground, Restaurant, Sports Bar, Gaming room and two main bars. The inside has spacious corridors from one area to another but dining areas are a bit restricted due to table spacing. The entry point has a heavy swinging door which can make it difficult for some to enter. The venue is rather flat all around and doesn't contain steps.

There are multiple toilet areas located just past the ordering counter in the bistro and in the games room. Although the toilets in the restaurant section have a Wheelchair accessible toilet while the gaming room doesn't.

Parking is great, including accessible parking right next to the entry way and a ramp that allows you to get into the entrance. There are also plenty of spots in the carpark.

Hunter River Hotel

Pender Place is a small shopping are located in the heart of Maitland City. This small centre has services such as Bakers Delight, Woolworths, Priceline and BWS. Within the area, you can also find yourself a sushi store and a small pop-up café in the middle.

There are two main entrances to the shopping centre, both including accessible parking at the front entrances. The entry-ways are two automatic doors, with plenty of room to move through the doorways. The inside is very spacious to manage the busy periods but also allows for plenty of room to move from store to store. Additionally, there are seating within the centre that are evenly spaced and have plenty of room per table.

There are wheelchair accessible toilets on-site and are located just around the corner of bakers delight (no photo unfortunately). 

Pender Place Shopping Centre

The Rutherford Indoor Sports Centre is a great place to stay active and have a little fun. They run sports such as cricket, soccer, hockey and much more. They have a few sports catered to people with disabilities or accessibility problems, although these run at designated times to not only provide the best experience but a safe one. Furthermore, staff offer a wide range of drink options and a small selected snack option for all your sporting needs.

The entry way is a step-free automatic door that leads into a flat surfaced venue. Inside, there is plenty of space to move from field to field and selected seating at the front for each field to watch the games your interested in.

There are a wide variety of vertical parking, with a spot dedicated to for people with accessible needs right by the entry way. There is also plenty of parking on the streets around the centre, with really wide roads allowing for plenty of room for all your needs.

Toilets are located past the main counter, in an easy to find location. There are wheelchair accessible toilets on-site and all the restroom areas are well maintained.

Maitland Indoor Sports Centre

Maitland's Regional Athletics Centre is your stop for all your sporting needs / events in Maitland. Just outside the city's core, the Athletics Centre holds two main areas, this being the athletics field and a rugby field.

The athletics field has everything planned and made to hold up your athletic needs. This ground has a 800m running oval, 2 long jump strips and even some closed off pitching areas. Additionally, the field includes a stand right by the entrance, featuring large concrete paths, seating and the Centre's office.

The Rugby field, located just above the athletics field, includes a 100m long open grass field to hold all your local rugby events in. Just like the athletics field, the stands are right where you enter with seating for all, even levelled concrete pathways that have plenty of room, bathrooms and a canteen selling all your favourite snacks/drinks. Unfortunately, this field is only operational when sporting events are on.

There are plenty of on-site parking with there being 4 separate lots, so you will never miss out on your favourite event or sports. Each parking lot has it's own sets of accessible parking areas that are relatively close to the entrances of both ground areas.

Wheelchair accessible toilets are on site but due to the nature of events, they typically aren't open on busy days with the next closest available being at Harold Gregson Park.

Maitland Regional Athletics Centre

In the middle of Gillieston Heights lies a small café called Sherwood Coffee. This little coffee spot is a recent addition to the Gillieston Heights area and has gain a massive attraction.

This café offers plenty of spots from indoor to outdoors, with cushioning supplied for comfort. There is a ramp near the front that allows for easy access to the venue. The entry does consist of push to open doors which aren't too heavy to push open but can be a pain if you plan to go alone.

There unfortunately isn't any accessible parking at the front but the McDonalds on the other side of the parking lot does have accessible parking. 

The café does offer a well maintained bathroom that is wheelchair accessible. This is tucked away at the beck of the venue, on the other side of some glass walls.

Sherwood Coffee - Gillieston Heights

Reading Cinemas Maitland is a good reason to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy the movies. The cinemas are a flat level with a big entrance, with push to open doors. The tickets can be purchased via the main counter top, where you can purchase all your snacks, popcorn and desserts. The rooms are clearly labelled are can be seen as soon as you walk in. There is also plenty of space in the lobby to move around and find your way to your auditorium. All rooms consist of wheelchair accessible seating and are easily accessible.

NOTE: The counters within the venue are a bit high staff are willing to help you out with your ticket and further purchases.

The toilets are located near the arcade area, with a sign highlighting where they are. They have a ramp down to them and are easily accessible. While maintained well, the toilets also offer wheelchair accessible restrooms.

The best place to park is right outside the cinema or the next best parking is across the road near the Church, unfortunately there is no accessible parking in either of the parking lots, there are still plenty of spots available.

Reading Cinemas Maitland

The Rutherford Hotel is located just off the New England Highway and is perfect for the family. The venue holds a variety of food and drink options to pick from with services such as a bistro, bar, TAB room, gaming, kids area and a liquor store just outside. Furthermore, the Rutherford Hotel has two main two main entry points, one being a wheelchair accessible entrance by the front and a rear entrance near all the parking.

NOTE: The entrance at the back consist of a staircase entry, so keep that in mind when choosing where to enter.

When taking the front entry, you'll be greeted to a restaurant area where the family can choose to sit inside or out on the little veranda. There is plenty of room to move around between the floor and the tables, making it accessible for all. Additionally, you'll find the kids area in this section as well. Going through a corridor on the right side of the entrance will lead you towards the main bar, the back entrance and the toilets. Moving past the main bar will be the TAB area, gaming machines, and late night events are held.

There are wheelchair accessible toilets on site and are regularly maintained by staff to enhance the experience for everyone. Although there is limited accessible parking on-site, with one spot being located at the front of the liquor store, being the closest park to the entrance. 

The Rutherford Hotel

The Bradford Hotel is a restaurant and bar located just off the New England Highway in Rutherford. This venue offers stair-free access with a spacious inside. The main entry point consists of swinging doors that is usually kept open by staff and security during opening hours. There are also two entry points around the sides of the building, one leading straight into the games room and the other leading to the lower half of the building.

The venue provides a small outside seating area with a playground for kids to play amongst. There is ample room for wheelchair access and mainly consist of wooden floor boards and carpet for the inside with a smooth pavement outside. Unfortunately, the lower area isn't wheelchair accessible due to there being a few steps between the levels.

There are plenty of room to move around inside from tables to the bar and the bistro while also having easily diagnosed toilet spot next to the bar. This venue not only consists of a games room but also a kids room in the main restaurant area that is accessible to all.

Accessible parking is available at the venue as well and is near the front where the entrance is.

The Bradford Hotel

Finney Close playground is a small playground located in Rutherford. 

This playground offers a variety of play equipment for everyone to have fun. With the grounding of the playground being flat soft-fall rubber area, its easy for everyone to access. Additionally, there is concrete pathing all around the area to make it easy to traverse around the area. 

There is wooden seating on-site but doesn't consist of a bin, water dispenser or toilets. The area is also not covered at all and is un-gated as well. Curb side parking can be accessed via Finney Close.

Finney Close Playground

Located at Keith Smith Reserve is a playground that the kids will love!!! This park is an un-fenced ninja warrior like course that is full of fun activities like a climbing wall, monkey bar, obscure bridges and even a ramp at the end to try and climb over.

The course is pathed out by soft-fall rubber and surrounded by woodchip flooring. There is a bench on a concrete island at the park although can cause struggles to some as you have to cross over grass. to access it. 

The best place to park right across the road from the park, at Lorn Park Oval. The next best option is to park along Nillo Street.

There are no toilets on site of the location.

Keith Smith Reserve

East Maitland Playground is within a suburban district, located along McGowan Street.

The playground is a small fenced off play space, offering shade, seating and plenty of equipment like a climbing net, swings, obstacle course and a little riding path around the playset. There is seating area to the side that has a tiled flooring for a trusted flat surface.

There is horizontal parking reserved for the park along the street and its right next to a concrete path that leads into the play area. 

East Maitland Playground

Coronation Oval in Telarah is a community sports ground used for cricket, football, and local school and club events. 

Entry is step-free, with wide access points and flat pathways around the oval, making it suitable for wheelchairs, prams, and mobility aids. The playing surface is grassed and expansive, which may be more difficult to navigate after wet weather. Spectator areas include benches and shaded seating, though most viewing is at ground level without raised or tiered stands. 

Public toilets, including an accessible toilet, are available on-site near the amenities block. Parking is provided along nearby streets and beside the oval, with some marked accessible spaces close to the entry. 

Overall, Coronation Oval is a practical community sports facility with good basic accessibility for both players and spectators.
