Lambton Park offers a range of play equipment from toddlers to school-aged kids.  These include a rope climbing ball, a roundabout, a small play house, swingset, slides and water play equipment along with the large climbing structure best suited to older children.

There is a track to roll or for kids to ride bikes & scooters & plenty of grass to run around or spread out a blanket relax & picnic on . Not forgetting, of course, the historical rotunda with walking/rolling tracks  around the park all the way from the park past Lambton Pool to Elder Street.  The wide walking paths along Howe Street are especially pleasant as they are flanked by large shady trees. 

The park has accessible toilets, a water fountain & plenty of picnic tables & benches including a covered picnic table and BBQ.  

Free accessible parking can be found at 87 De Vitre St.

The Lambton Tea Rooms are next to the playground & there are also cafes in Elder Street across from Lambton Park.

Lambton Park

Jesmond Park actually has two playgrounds at the park, the first being near Newcastle Road best suited to older kids.  There’s a climbing structure, roundabout, double seesaw (fits 4) and a flying saucer swing (fits as many as you can get in). 

At the back of Jesmond Park is another playground with a wide range of cool playground equipment suitable for kids from toddlers to older kids.  Around this  playground is a track suitable for wheelchairs, bikes and scooters. There’s also a half-basketball court as well as covered picnic shelters and BBQs.

The accessible toilets, bubbler and BBQs are next to this playground. Jesmond Park is a fantastic spot for a picnic as there are picnic tables and benches all over the park.

There is a signposed walking track along with a  walk up to John Hunter Hospital, a lovely walk except it is uphill.

Jesmond Park

Brickworks Park in Wallsend is a great spot for families to visit featuring a playground, nature trail & pond area.  

To access Brickworks Park, you’ll need to find a park on the road outside & then it’s 200 metres walk/roll along a paved path to Brickworks Park.

There are covered picnic shelters & barbeques with lead-up pathways & brick artworl along the way.  The playground is to the left offering a range of play equipment including swing set, roundabout & a big wooden fort with two slides & spiderweb climbing wall.

There is a paved trail for easy rolling to an expansive covered picnic area endind at a large bird viewing area.  There are views of the quarry walls, gum trees & peaceful pond with plenty of birdlife.

Accessible toilets can be found at the entrance of the park & water fountains near the picnic tables.

Brickworks Park

Loch Ness Park Playground at Fletcher has a large playground with 41 inclusive activities, split across two levels, suitable for all ages.

The playgroud features a play tower with a climbing cube, three slides, a softfall slope with climbing ropes, a seesaw, swings and more.

There is a concrete path walk almost all the way around the park with just a small section of grass as the start. The walk is approx 500m with benches along the way.  Opposite the playground is a pond with timber jetty.  

There are two covered picnic tables but plenty of grass, a small rotunda & water fountain near the playground.  

There are no toilets at the park & parking is on-street, Loch Ness Drive with concrete paths leading down to the park from Jetty Parade on the opposite side.  

Loch Ness Drive Playground

Set in the leafy surrounds of Richley Reserve at Blackbutt Reserve  in New Lambton is a great colourful 60 metre playground that encourages nature play & adventure.

The park is divided into two main sections, one area for younger kids with toddler swings, group swing, two slides, cubby house & rope bridge.   The other area is an adventure playground for older kids with climbing tower, bridges, slide, fireman pole, rope courses & tunnels.  

The park is surrounded by trees & grass, stone garden, a sand pit with water tap & is inclusive with pathways providing accessible routes to the play equipment. There is a ramp to get to the top of the tower & specially designed wheelchair accessible carousel with a lift up bar to snap in wheelchairs.  

There is plenty of shade, seating, picnic tables, BBQs, water fountain & amenities block next to the playground but no kiosk.  Parking is $4 per hour or $12 a day.

Richley Reserve

Neegulbah Park in Macquarie Hills has a playground nestled in the trees which provide  some shade. There is a large climbing frame with an enclosed  slide & a smaller slide for younger kids.  This climbing frame incorporates a climbing wall, climbing ladder & climbing net to suit a range of ages.

There is a rope spinner, balance equipment including log jump, rope traverse and alligator crossing, & group of swings. 

The park has wood chip, rubber matting, there's plenty of seating areas including sandstone blocks & picnic tables.  There’s plenty of parking behind the park but unfortunately there are no accessible toilets closeby. 

Cardiff Shopping Centre & Stockdale Glendale offer accessible toilets but are around 1.6km away.  

Neegulbah Park Playground

Wallsend Active Hub is located in Federal Park in Wallsend, next to Wallsend Pool & offers plenty to do with a variety of play equipment for all ages.

There is a brightly coloured climbing structure with ramps & stairs, ropes & bridges, rope climbing frame, with bark & softfall flooring & flat concrete lead-in pathways.  A swing block with two regular swings, a baby swing, group swing & an accessibility swing. There is also an all-abilities spinning carousel in the playspace.

For older kids there is a rectangular climbing frame with spiders web, climbing nets, mini climbing wall & balancing components & mini in-ground trampolines.

The hub has a playspace that includes pump track for bikes, scooters & skateboards, multi-sports courts for basketball & futsal, rebound wall, climbing wall & fitness stations.

There is seating all around the playground with clear view of playground to pump track to sport courts & easy roll pathways throughout.  There are covered picnic shelters, drinking fountain near the climbing wall & bike racks.

There are currently no toilets or BBQs at the park, these will be delievered in Phase 2. Nearest toilets are at Wallsend Pool when it’s open, accessible toilets at Wallsend Village Shopping Centre & the Library.

Wallsend Active Hub, Federal Park Playground

Richley Reserve Circuit is 731m return wheelchair accessible walk which travels through open grasslands that are surrounded by a healthy eucalyptus forest.  

Within the grasslands are two large ponds, with two black swans on the lower pond.  Do be careful though, the swans can get aggressive defending their territory.  

The wide sealed trail offers easy rolling, timber bridge over water, picnic tables & benches dotted along the way, playground & car park.

Harold Myers Park in Birmingham Gardens can be accessed via Sandgate Road & the the playground from Wilkinson Avenue, featuring multiplay equipment designed to encourage interaction between children.

This includes slides, gangways, climbing nets, a climbing wall, ladders, ground level shop, fireman's pole, sit-on bouncy, noughts and crosses, balancing beams,  spinner & ninja-style climbing cube.  

There is a selection of swings including a regular, group swing & baby/toddler swing.  The base of the playground is a mixture of softfall & woodchip, surrounded by grass however there is a slight concrete ridge into the playground.  

The park is not fenced but the playground is placed away from the road.  There is no shade over the playground but the trees do offer some shade.  There are no picnic facilities, BBQs or toilets.  Closest accessible toilets can be found at  Stockland Jesmond, 28 Blue Gum Road.  Parking is on-street on Wilkinson Avenue.  

Harold Myers Park Playground

Novocastrian Park features a playground with wooden fort centrepiece with spiral slide & two smalled slides.  There is a rope climbing frame with spiderweb & climbing wall.  

There is a regular and baby swing as well as a group swing, small roundabout, seesaw, log balancing beams, & puzzle blocks.

The flooring is a combination of softfall paths & bark chips & a water fountain is onsite.  Parents can sit around the playground on benches & sandstone blocks & the playground is surrounded by grassed area with picnic tables & wide lead-in pathway from road to playground.

Adjacent to the playground is a half-basketball court with both basketball & netball hoops.  Behind the playground is sport fields used for soccer & cricket.

Regular toilets can be found onsite, accessible toilets can be found just under 1km away at Richley Recreation Reserve & Homeworks Kotara.   Parking is on-street & at the sports field.  

Novocastrian Park Playground

Tempest is an accessible cafe located Nelson Street, Wallsend.

The cafe offers step free entry to  wide glass double doors via paved pathway approach with easy access to the counter.  Inside the cafe is spacious with frestanding tables & chairs along with outside seating & tables.

Accessible toilets can be found just over 250m away at McDonalds Wallsend & just under 500m away at Wallsend Park Community Hall.

A disabled parking spot can be found in the car park further up Nelson Street on Kemp Street.
