Accessible Stroll In State Route 33Black Rock Beach to Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary

    This beautiful walk along the bluestone sea wall of Black Rock Beach to Ricketts Point Tea House & Marine Sanctuary is accessible by wheelchairs, walkers, cycles & scooters & oly becomes inaccessible to wheelchairs at the stairs between the road & beach. These can be avoided to just stay on the pathways & just enjoy the views.

    The walk starts at Black Rock Gardens, overlooked by the four faced tower block & featuring a great pirate themed playground with picnic tables, benches, BBQs, drinking fountain & regular toilets.

    There is a ramp down to the sea wall sealed pathway & beautiful clear water & sections of beach. At the end of the wall there is another grassy picnic area with a rotunda, table & chairs. There is also the sheltered Quiet Corner Beach where there are often swans & pelicans.

    To get to Rickets Point you can either walk along the beach or head up the stairs & take the Bay Trail along Beach Road. For those not on wheels there is the option to go through the vegetation along the unsealed coastal cliff top path.

    Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary is part of the long stretch of beach that runs along the bayside suburbs & its shallow water & collection of rock pools is great for little kids. There are all sorts of marine life from seaweed, shells, little creatures, seabirds, even black swans can all be found in the area.

    The Ricketts Point Beachside Cafe offers wheelchair access, family friendly & seating for up to 200 people. The menu changes according to seasons & is also licensed to serve beers, ciders, wine & champagne with the gardens featuring electronic BBQs. lovely views & plenty of parking.
