Wildlife Wonders is a spectacular new ecotourism destination on the Great Ocean Road, just 5 minutes from Apollo Bay.

National Geographic have named it one of the top 5 best places in the world to enjoy nature in 2022:
“Wildlife Wonders, in Victoria’s Otways region, is a new wildlife sanctuary tucked away off the Great Ocean Road amid lush ancient forest and waterfalls. It’s the brainchild of Brian Massey, the landscape designer of New Zealand’s Hobbiton movie set tours. Massey, along with botanists, scientists, zoologists, and environmental specialists, has crafted a sinuous wooden path that winds through the refuge and blends seamlessly into the landscape.
“Visitors can set off on 75-minute guided tours of the sylvan site, wandering through thickets of eucalyptus trees and admiring the koalas, wallabies, and bandicoots that now call the sanctuary home. During a stop at the Research Base, guests can learn more about how the site provides a safe space for native species like the long-nosed potoroo, a marsupial that often falls prey to invasive predators such as foxes and cats.
“All profits from Wildlife Wonders go toward the Conservation Ecology Centre, which helps to fund several vital conservation projects in the Otways, including one that studies the movement of potoroos before, during, and after planned forest fires.”

The entire experience is wheelchair accessible and a wheelchair can be borrowed onsite (FOC). Assistance dogs are welcome in the cafe and visitor centre 


Wildlife Wonders

Visit the Apollo Bay Distillery, the only working distillery along the Great Ocean Road! 

Try a gin flight consisting of our handcrafted gins, distilled onsite, using local botanicals. Our beautiful copper column still is not to be missed! These unique and artisan gins can be enjoyed alongside a freshly made wood fired pizzas, using only the finest flour and ingredients. We are proud to collaborate with local businesses including Hello Coffee who supply delicious locally roasted coffee beans.

Wheelchair access is easy and straightforward. The front doors are automatic and the entry is wide. Interior doorways are regular size. There is also a permanent ramp to enter the facility. 

You can easily fit a wheelchair between the tables. The tables are spaced out through the venue. We do have some stools and benches, but enough tables to sit with a wheelchair. All areas of our venue are accessible in a wheelchair. 

Our toilets are accessible to wheelchairs. There is a sign to the accessible toilet. The toilet is very spacious and clean, with additional accessibility equipment. 

Apollo Bay Distillery

The Great Ocean Road Brewhouse is a craft beer haven with over 100 craft beers on offer. Warm yourself by the fire or enjoy our beer garden with ocean views.

On Tap we only pour the best Craft Beers, including our sister company Prickly Moses Handcrafted Beers. Visitors to Apollo Bay will love dropping into the tasting room Tastes of the Region, located behind the Brewhouse. Here, people can sample local beer and wine and enjoy a produce platter showcasing locally produced cheeses, dips, bread, olive oil and more.

Wheelchair access is easy through the front doors and side entry door, or there is access directly to the beer garden. The front doors are accessible, wide, and not heavy. The side doors are accessible too, but heavy and narrow. Interior doorways are regular size. There is also a permanent ramp to both the bistro and beer garden. 

You can fit a wheelchair between the tables. There is enough space and we are happy to accommodate if needed. We do have some stools and benches, but enough tables to sit with a wheelchair. All areas of our venue are accessible in a wheelchair.

Great Ocean Road Brewhouse

This cabin has an ocean view and is in the centre of the park close to all the facilities, making it ideal for your next accessible family escape to Apollo Bay.
