Port Kembla is a relaxed seaside town south of Wollongong where the beach, pool and headland are all set up for easy access. Port Kembla Beach is one of Wollongong’s four accessible beaches. It has a ramp from the promenade down to the sand, free beach wheelchairs you can book during patrol hours, and beach matting on request. Right beside it, the Olympic-sized saltwater Port Kembla Pool has a gentle beach-style entry. It also has a Changing Places facility, open 24/7 with an MLAK key or with help from pool staff during opening hours.
For sweeping views, head to Hill 60. Its new viewing area opened in December 2024, with accessible parking, an accessible footpath and safety railings overlooking the Five Islands and Port Kembla Harbour. Across the road from the pool, King George V Playground has accessible parking right next door.
